My preference would be to have a forum for history/warfare/tactics/weapons systems (ie cruise missiles or artillery) etc. and leave the firearm specific posts in the appropriate rifle/handgun/shotgun forums, especially given we already have NFA and C&R firearms divided into those forums.

I voted YES. Maybe a section on Military with forums on weapons, tactics, historical, etc? Before you say "No, there are other such forums out there," let me say that the rich mix of folks here at THR is what I would enjoy; not just talking about militaria.

This is TheHighRoad, dedicated to the advancement of responsible firearms ownership. If the occasional thread on warfare slips under the wire by virtue of being tangentially gun-related, fine & fun. If you want a dedicated Military History & Hardware forum, start one; I'll register there.

When one wanders too far afield from one's core purpose, it just waters down the quality of the board.

Currently, mil equipment/tactics goes under rifle/shortgun/hanguns/tactics forums and anything left over (tanks, nukes, French victories) goes in General. Is there a compelling reason to separate it? I am not sure -- especially since the whole idea of avoiding a separate NFA forum was to "mainstream" discussions of the connonly unavailable arms.
