Recovered a mushroomed 30-30 bullet from an 8 pointer I killed last week. It weighs 7.8 grams. Wondering how many grains that is to see how much weight it retained. Any ideas how to convert grams to grains?

1 grain = 0.0648 grams

So 7.8g = 120gr. (7.8/0.0648=120gr.)

Hmmmm......I was shooting a 150 gr bullet. Now, half of the "petals" were gone (torn off?) But does that still sound right? Shouldn't it lose a lot less than 30 grains? I'm shooting remingtons.

No, losing 30 grains is not out of line with my experience. Don't forget that this is designed into the bullet - it's not a bug, it's a feature!

BTW, on a professional note, a previous poster mentioned http://www.onlineconversion.com/. Hmmm... "Online conversion"... sounds like a new evangelistic tool! :D
