That is if I get a permit this year I would like to get a good one up in northern MN. Two years ago the guy who invited us sayed he had it all set up for us well both me and dad got skunked partly because we don't know the first thing about bear hunting and second because the guy who set us up new only a little more. Are there some good books out there ? Do any of you fine men and women have some friendly advice?

Well the best advice would be first to contact the local DFG office. They probably have some general habit information on the bears in your area. That will also include local favorite vegetation and habitat. I have been successful with spot and stalk method here in california. It is important to know the localtion of the bears. They don't just hang out anywhere. good luck and good hunting
