OK, who changed their names from TFL?

I'm in a rut, I guess. I seem to keep the same name all over the internet. Who came up with a new one and why?

I changed mine -- "dzeanah" made people think it actually meant something. Now I'm just me. :)

Not Me,TexasVet.I'm the same guy on all of the forums I subscribe to.tom.

December 24, 2002, 02:36 PM
Been wanting to change mine, just didn't want to start over...But now we are starting over. :)

December 24, 2002, 02:39 PM
I decided to leave mine alone too.. ;)

December 24, 2002, 02:42 PM
I dropped "The", and became just "Preacherman". Just too lazy to type, I guess... :D

December 24, 2002, 02:46 PM
I changed mine - from Ceol Mhor to simply my first name. Easier to type and easier to pronounce.

December 24, 2002, 02:47 PM
I was going to go to my rel name to make myself more "official" (and it's not like everyone's not going to know it when Feb. S.W.A.T. hits the mailboxes) - but I decided "runt_of_the_litter" was more fun. :p

December 24, 2002, 02:47 PM
Not me!

December 24, 2002, 02:48 PM
I added a space between Lone and Gunman.

Big change, huh?:D

I was formerly "Long Path" (english translation of "Sendero", which I had been shooting a lot and reloading a lot for when I started with T.F.L.) at T.F.L.

December 24, 2002, 02:59 PM
Long Path :D.

December 24, 2002, 03:01 PM
Doh! :D

December 24, 2002, 03:09 PM
I kept mine because I use it everywhere. Since I moved I am ont affiliated with a Fire Department or EMS agency.

December 24, 2002, 03:09 PM
not me... cheers everyone!

Tango Sierra
December 24, 2002, 03:10 PM
I was known as "oops" on TFL and some other forums and also as "Tango Sierra" on others. I decided on "Tango Sierra" for here.

I changed it because if someone asked how I came up with the name "oops" it would take far too much typing to explain it. "Tango Sierra" stand for the initials of my real name.

December 24, 2002, 03:14 PM
Each day, I still see the mountain range that inspired my nick...I kept what I had and use it here and elsewhere.

Greg L
December 24, 2002, 03:16 PM
Not me, I've managed to remember it for 36 or so years so I don't want to change it now. :)

Glock Glockler
December 24, 2002, 03:18 PM
My handle used to be spelled with lower-case "g"s and now their capital "G"s.

December 24, 2002, 03:25 PM
Left mine alone, same handle I use on all other boards I'm registered on.

December 24, 2002, 03:27 PM
I figured i would keep my same name here.

December 24, 2002, 03:28 PM
I'm "Bigdog" on most sites I'm a member of, but when I registered onto TFL I was told that moniker was already taken - so I was "FF1090" there - my old Navy frigate's hull number.
I didn't post much on TFL (it wasn't one of my main sites - )
but I'll try to remedy that sad state of affairs. :)

Capital Punishment
December 24, 2002, 03:31 PM
Im the same. Im the same everywhere. :)

December 24, 2002, 03:31 PM
I'm in a rut, I guess. I seem to keep the same name all over the internet. But aren't you "Tonkin Gulf Yahct Club" (or some other misspelling of yacht) over on FR? :D

December 24, 2002, 03:32 PM
Rose by any other name would smell as sweet

guess who?

December 24, 2002, 03:33 PM
Same name that I use on all the other boards I'm on. Been using it since highschool, figure why stop using it now. :D
btw, love the new board:cool:

December 24, 2002, 03:35 PM
I did, I was k77/22rp and now I'm Jeff D.

December 24, 2002, 03:36 PM
I guess I am in the same rut. Besides, it's easier to keep user names straight if they are all the same, all you have to change is passwords.

To paraphrase that great sailor (Popeye):

I yam who I yam.

Silver Bullet
December 24, 2002, 03:55 PM
I wanted to change my name, partly because there was another Silver Bullet variation on TFL, but I was afraid someone else would sign in as Silver Bullet and say even sillier things than I do.

Like this.

Jim V
December 24, 2002, 03:58 PM
Nope, stayed the same, I've used Jim V on every board I've belonged to since I figured out how to get on line. Since it is my name, why confuse myself? :D

December 24, 2002, 04:12 PM
Thanks, Tom. :)

I'm noticing that people changing their usernames are almost all going to their real names (or portions thereof) in place of anonymous handles. That's got to be a sign of a great group - people using the internet to establish a legit reputation and share useful information, rather than take advantage of anonymity to post junk.

December 24, 2002, 04:14 PM
kept mine....but i was tempted to use my handle from MOHAA: aeonflux

i decided against it cause i'm sure i would get mistaken even more for being a girl having that name. (those who watched mtv before it started sucking should know what i mean)

December 24, 2002, 04:15 PM
Been want'n to get rid of that dang SW9M for a long time. Seems like it was not long after that S&W thingy. Sorry gun too. And it was hard to type.

I likes my Para:cool:

December 24, 2002, 04:22 PM
Change is sooo hard.

December 24, 2002, 04:30 PM
It's now my alter identity. Got an e-mail address and website. Not gonna change.

Pappy John
December 24, 2002, 04:33 PM

Nathaniel Firethorn
December 24, 2002, 04:40 PM
It's still spelled "pdmoderator," but now it's pronounced "fruit warbler mangrove."

- pdmoderator

Brian Williams
December 24, 2002, 04:44 PM

Still am

Zak Smith
December 24, 2002, 04:46 PM
I was smithz on TFL, but I'll go by my real name here.

December 24, 2002, 04:53 PM
I used Matt19 at TFL. I use Slotback on some other boards, and I like it enough to keep using it.

December 24, 2002, 04:55 PM
Not I said the Squirrel.

December 24, 2002, 04:58 PM
I was thinking about changing to the name I use on 1911 forum (Automatic), but I had this one first, as I came to TFL before 1911 forum. Besides, Prodigalshooter has more "cache" than the other;)

Neal Bloom
December 24, 2002, 04:59 PM
Kept the same one. Too old to try and remember new handles and such.

December 24, 2002, 05:09 PM
I used a handle when I first started on TFL, then realized that I was posting stuff from behind that name that I wouldn't post if my real name was attached, so I asked for the switch.

On this one I just dropped my last name.

I guess that "Jorah" could be considered a handle of sorts; it is my nickname, but everyone has called me that for 14 years... I'm Jorah and Jorah am I.

For a while, I may have been the only Jorah online, but now there are several others floating around... including one young lady.

-Jorah (Lavin)

December 24, 2002, 05:11 PM
After all these years . . .

December 24, 2002, 05:12 PM
I just kept mine for old times sake........

Here's to you all..........

December 24, 2002, 05:30 PM
I am known the world over as Zundfolge so why change now.

Damn you pdmoderator, you beat me to a classic python joke :p

December 24, 2002, 05:31 PM
Formerly NYRSCCA on TFL and currently M700Police on Gun-Talk.

Like this one the best though. :)

Ted Bell
December 24, 2002, 05:32 PM
Used to be MGB (well I still am) but decided to go with a new name -- my favorite fictional radio character ;)

December 24, 2002, 05:36 PM
Nope. Same on most forums, unless it's been taken. What a wonderful Christmas present.

Felonious Monk
December 24, 2002, 05:43 PM
Fignozzle : unique, but somewhat nonsensical.

Felonious Monk : Unique, and appropriate on many levels.
--Love Jazz (especially bebop) and play jazz guitar.
--Used ta be...mildly felonious (okay, at least misdemeanorous :p )
--Am...interested in spiritual disciplines.

I understand comments about some people saying things behind a screen name they wouldn't say using their real name. That's not the case here, I'll tell you what I think regardless. Anybody that really wants to know me better will know my real name before long anyway.

We live in a litigious society, and (G-d forbid) if I ever should have to off a bad guy while protecting my family, I DO NOT want posts on a forum to be misquoted, misconstrued, or used against me in a court of law.

PLUS, gun-grabbers aren't the ONLY ones attempting to erode your rights and freedoms.
Personal privacy is my other soap box.
Hence, the nom de plume.

Glad to see all of you!

Thanks and BIG respect to you, Oleg, and your team. Site looks world-class!

December 24, 2002, 05:46 PM
Was JohnnyGotHisGun1 (just bought my first handgun at the time I registered with TFL).

Now, several years and a myriad guns later, its just doesn't fit.

Always loved the passage about Grond from the seige of Gondor in Return of the King.

Erik Jensen
December 24, 2002, 05:54 PM
I changed mine from Kopfschmerzen just because.. besides, no-one can pronounce it unless they're german. that, and my Beretta 92F was my first handgun.. why not.

December 24, 2002, 05:59 PM
Nope, same name, same no frills attitude. lol

Glad to be here. The collective knowledge base of TFL was irreplaceable. At least, so I thought until Oleg gave us a home.

Merry Christmas to all.....

December 24, 2002, 06:08 PM
Same-O, Same-O for me.

December 24, 2002, 06:20 PM
I kept the same name. I have joined Gun-Talk, Thefireingrange, and now THR. I wan't sure where all the ex TFLers would end up so I joined all of them. :)

December 24, 2002, 06:25 PM
Not me... I'm cratz2 pretty much everywhere I go except eBay and glocktalk which, almost unbelievably, someone else already has cratz2 at both places.

December 24, 2002, 06:26 PM
same old "stellarpod"

Likely me anywhere you see it on the net.

(who else would want it?)

December 24, 2002, 06:35 PM
Went from Fritzers to Bruz...TFL would not accept Bruz as it apparently was taken. If I'am stepping on someones toes let me know and I'll be glad to change! ;)

December 24, 2002, 06:50 PM
Same old Thumper here.

December 24, 2002, 06:50 PM
Same ole me. critter before/critter now!

December 24, 2002, 06:52 PM
Well this tiome I used my callsign from when I was the GLO with the 127th Wing of the MIANG: Blackcloud Six.

I was Fred S on TFL.

December 24, 2002, 06:52 PM
Im close enough to my old Name.:)

Point Blank
December 24, 2002, 06:53 PM
Same here. Thanks for the nice gathering place along with the best "hands" around!!

December 24, 2002, 06:56 PM
Not me. Still semi- hiding in the shadows.

The site feels like home folks...good work! :)

December 24, 2002, 06:58 PM
Went from 1st name to initials.

December 24, 2002, 06:58 PM
Well, I guess I did by mistake.

I was Cuchulainn; now I'm cuchulainn.

Tricky shift key! ;)

December 24, 2002, 07:01 PM
Got promoted, so the radio shorthand changed. Used to be EchoFiveMike. S/F...Ken M

December 24, 2002, 07:02 PM
Stayed the same......TheFiringLine is the only site that I use JG as a username (also a car forum, but I haven't participated there in quite some time).

Not everything has to change.

Walther P99
December 24, 2002, 07:19 PM
Kept the same one since I'm not creative enough to come with something original...

December 24, 2002, 07:22 PM
I'm just plain Gomez. Anything fancier than that and I get confused. Of course, I'm pegomez, someplaces simply because I never thought about just plain Gomez when I first got on this internet thingy.

Harold Mayo
December 24, 2002, 07:24 PM
Went from my initials plus a number (hdm25), which is my AOL e-mail address, to my name. Simpler that way.

December 24, 2002, 07:25 PM
You dont know me but some exceptionally cool guy named Edward429451 let me use his handle. :D

December 24, 2002, 07:26 PM
I kept biere since it is so far the only name I have been able to use on multiple boards and not find something similar.

Well, there was one guy called beer, but that is just pronunciation. Biere I am, biere I will be. :D

Mostly wanted to make sure I can post here.

December 24, 2002, 07:27 PM
Didn't change mine. This makes 6 boards as MarineTech.

Jim March
December 24, 2002, 07:31 PM
No changes here :)

December 24, 2002, 07:34 PM
Hi All! How are ya doing!

December 24, 2002, 07:45 PM
I like to stick with the same handle. Once people get to know who I am and I know who others are, it makes it easier to converse with.

December 24, 2002, 07:46 PM
I'm missing part of me..

Frank Jones
December 24, 2002, 07:56 PM
I'm not sure why I picked my old handle on TFL. Morbid thoughts about our future, combined with a desire for anonymity. Anyhow, this here's the name Frank Sr. gave me.

December 24, 2002, 07:56 PM
I'm the same on all forums except "Glock Talk". There I'm
BIG DAWG #383.

Glad to be here.

H&K Fan
December 24, 2002, 07:56 PM
Not me. It is an alternative to the usual id I use on the web.

December 24, 2002, 08:38 PM
Telewinz is still telewinz, I had it copywrited:)

El Tejon
December 24, 2002, 08:54 PM
Changed it. Was my nickname from the LE daze. Someone called me by it the other day and it stuck in my head.

December 24, 2002, 09:06 PM
I kept mine the same if for no other reason than to prove that, unlike the stock market, I actually CAN get in on the ground floor of something good.:)

Thanks for the new site Oleg, and Merry Christmas everyone!

December 24, 2002, 09:11 PM
Not I. I think I define the term - being in a rut. lol

December 24, 2002, 09:16 PM
used to be DC8-73, now dadman.

December 24, 2002, 09:17 PM
I decided early on that I pretty much hated Diaperchanger. I'd been Lucky Devil before that, but that wasn't working for me either. This was a chance to start over with a name that I know I like! :D

December 24, 2002, 09:22 PM
Ted Bell, I have the Official Ted Bell shirt. In fact it's great for CCW, you can hide a 5" 1911 and two mags under that thing and no one's the wiser ;)

LOL ! Been listening to Hendrie since 1995 when I lived in LA and he started on KFI (late nights no less).

Was disappointed that I only got to listen to him on trips to the mother ship in LA after I was transferred to SLC, but a year later, he want nationwide. I still can't quite believe the SLC station that carries his show hasn't been besieged with flaming torches by the local culture ;)

Oh, as for the topic...

Dropped the "1440" (perfect score) from my TFL login as I go by just Archer everywhere else.

Oleg, I am simply gobsmacked at what a good job you and your associates have accomplished putting this together in such a short time !

December 24, 2002, 09:32 PM
No changes here using the same name.

December 24, 2002, 09:34 PM
Don't post much, but try to keep the same name on every board I visit.

December 24, 2002, 09:36 PM
Dropped the "the".

December 24, 2002, 09:37 PM
Same old, same old here and other boards. The whiskers ain't exactly going back to being black ... BTW, Merry Christmas all!!!

' Likin' seein' the familiar names. A great gift here, huh?:D

December 24, 2002, 09:49 PM
Hawk is a new user name - this'll be the only forum where it wasn't already taken so I grabbed it. Somehow it became my name to friends, family and co-workers - probably because they didn't want to deal with my whole last name (Hawxhurst).

Previous name was the (mostly lurking) "jart" - a reference to my other hobby - rocketry, specifically an unintended "ballistic recovery".

December 24, 2002, 09:53 PM
I thought about it being a new board and all but I figure I haven't made anyone mad yet so I'll stay the same

December 24, 2002, 09:57 PM
I kept mine the same. I'm still too new of a shooter for anything better yet!

December 24, 2002, 10:03 PM
I switched from my old name on TFL to Rusty Hammer ... figured I'd make the Feds start a new file. (ha.ha)

December 24, 2002, 10:12 PM
Same 10. Hard enough to remember all my phone numbers, let alone multiple internet handles.

New Sig line, does that count?:D

Old Fuff
December 24, 2002, 10:16 PM
"Old Fuff" is present and accounted for. No changes. Good to see so many of my old friends are here.

David Scott
December 24, 2002, 10:23 PM
I use the name I was given by my parents, here and everywhere else.

Horny Toad
December 24, 2002, 10:26 PM
Mine is my dad's old CB handle. I couldn't let it go. :D

Horny Toad

December 24, 2002, 10:27 PM
Until my initials change, I think I'll keep the same handle.

December 24, 2002, 10:37 PM
Was Templar333 on TFL but decided to change it to i-SHOT to stick with the brand I'm forging. Besides TFL and the 1911forum, I'm i-SHOT on the other forums.

Man, it is great to be here. Felice Navidad, everyone.

2nd Amendment
December 24, 2002, 10:42 PM
Same old same old. I've used it for years, since I picked it to infuriate some anti-gunners, and I'm just too old and slow to change now. :)

December 24, 2002, 10:47 PM
My username is almost the same, but the user name field doesn't allow enough letters, so the last three letters are missing.

December 24, 2002, 10:55 PM
I'm too old to switch. Besides, it makes me feel like I'm continuing the fine TFL tradition. So no switching for me.

December 24, 2002, 10:58 PM
|Left mine the same. No imagination :o

December 24, 2002, 11:02 PM
Still me!

3 gun
December 24, 2002, 11:11 PM
Same old me, same old name.

December 24, 2002, 11:26 PM
same ol same ol here too.

December 24, 2002, 11:38 PM
zanthope was getting boring.

Nice Site!! Thank you for building it.

December 24, 2002, 11:45 PM
I did. I was blades67 at TFL, now I'm blades67 at THR. See the difference?;) :D

December 24, 2002, 11:50 PM
Nightcrawler was, Nightcrawler is.

Nightcrawler will ever be.

It is...good to be home.

December 25, 2002, 12:01 AM
Greetings !!

Same ole TargetShooter2

Al Norris
December 25, 2002, 12:01 AM
I've been using my real name everywhere but TFL. 'Bout Time I got rid of Antipitas!

December 25, 2002, 12:37 AM
I just did make it to 150 posts on TFL as Hardtarget, so I'll just stick with that name. I don't change things very much...I drove the same pick up truck for 20 yrs. (just changed that last month), still rabbit hunt with the same gun I used when I was ten('60). I'm just like that. By the way...I'm glad to see all these famaliar names here...feels like home!

Calamity Jane
December 25, 2002, 12:41 AM
Calamity Jane at TFL, Calamity Jane at THR.

Thought about changing it, but a split second later, decided... NAH. :)

ed dixon
December 25, 2002, 12:46 AM
I went lower-case by accident. Poor self-esteem or poor typing? Poor self-esteem because of poor typing? Whatever, it's okay for now. (The post padding already begins in earnest.)

December 25, 2002, 12:47 AM
Kept the name I use evrywhere I go. I am still PATH!

December 25, 2002, 01:10 AM
I am 'agony' everywhere on the web, but as TFL was my first experience with a forum, I was known as "spleenandideal."

agony is easier. :)

December 25, 2002, 01:16 AM
I was thinking "threeblink" but twoblink has just so much history ;) ;)

December 25, 2002, 01:33 AM
Im just a new member. I came to TFL days before this happened. Im a convert from many other boards. My name is allways the same

December 25, 2002, 01:41 AM
What's this "TFL" I hear so much about? :p

December 25, 2002, 02:01 AM
I dropped the silent and invisible 'h' from my name.

You know, like the silent H in pants. (Really obscure reference there.)

December 25, 2002, 02:10 AM
I am here, same guy, same name.

December 25, 2002, 02:43 AM
I'm the same, I keep this all over since I have found only one place that had it already in use, and it might have been me on an old e-mail account and registration!

Guy B. Meredith
December 25, 2002, 03:02 AM
Guy B. (Burton) Meredith was good enough for my wonderful late parents and it's good enough for me. Besides I've never felt comfortable with being a trend slave and end up going an independent route.

Oddly enough I will miss Longpath, KSFreeman and Lavin.

Hawk, do you participate in amateur or model rocketry? I was one of the founding members of an amateur rocket club in high school that had some outstanding people as members and miss the whole headset and comaraderie of those brilliant minds (one of whom was killed in Viet Nam). One of the members is now doing Mars probes and the faculty advisor is still around at age 80 and acting like his 38 year old self--a regular "Mr. Chips".

December 25, 2002, 03:02 AM
Too stubborn. ;)

December 25, 2002, 03:20 AM
Wow, it's great to see familiar faces! :D

December 25, 2002, 03:22 AM
Since I didn't change anything I wouldn't have posted here except it kinda became a "tell us you are here" thread so... Here I am, the party can now begin.

December 25, 2002, 03:54 AM
Changed to my e-mail address since I use that everwhere else. Used by given name at TFL --"W.F.McElhany". (easier to type too)

Robert Farrar
December 25, 2002, 06:33 AM
I changed (was rmf3, then Rmf33). I figured I'd just use my name.

December 25, 2002, 07:23 AM
Same jimmy as before. :)

December 25, 2002, 07:29 AM
Not me. I'm the same everywhere. I 'play' with my old classic musclecar Cougars, hence the name.

December 25, 2002, 08:14 AM
I was Gonzo_308 on TFL but am Orion on most other boards so I decided to consolidate now and I am Orion here.

Kentucky Rifle
December 25, 2002, 08:47 AM
Same ol' white haired, dinged up, Kentucky Rifle.:)

December 25, 2002, 09:29 AM
I've been using Braindead (with a 0 in many cases..when Braindead was taken) for over 10 years..not about to change now! ;-)

December 25, 2002, 09:29 AM
I was cliff715 on TFL,just cliff here,same as over at sigforum.com.

December 25, 2002, 09:54 AM
I kept the same one ;)

December 25, 2002, 10:01 AM
Same darogue1. Different forum

December 25, 2002, 10:15 AM
I changed.Got tired of the old handle of Pinball.Been using it for years.

December 25, 2002, 10:15 AM
Same name on all of my forums...Tady45 is a fishing lure that is used on the Ocean. Very effective... :)

nine fingers
December 25, 2002, 10:18 AM
Same stupid name that I got for doing a very stupid thing.

December 25, 2002, 10:30 AM
I droped the 1 as no one here had used cowboy yet. Cowboy has nothing to do with horses or ranches just a nick name given me by a very good friend years ago.

December 25, 2002, 10:36 AM
I had very few posts on TFL since I lurked for a long time w/o posting- but I decided to stick with the name I finally did post with.

December 25, 2002, 11:27 AM
Changed from 45Rookie to 45R. I am not longer a Rookie. :)

Johnny Guest
December 25, 2002, 11:55 AM
Same name here - - -

Merry Christmas and holiday greetings to all - - -

December 25, 2002, 12:55 PM
Same old HankL here.

December 25, 2002, 01:26 PM
I was "bruels" on The Firing Line. "Pilgrim" is the callsign that was given to me when I was flying A7E Corsair IIs in the Navy.

Nope, never registered as a freeper. Read it a lot, though! I have (and guess I still am) been EastTexVet on the first boards I ever joined, too long to type, so it got shortened.

And Runt...the board would NOT be the same with out ROTL as a board name!!!!;)

December 25, 2002, 01:42 PM
Changed mine,from HntnFsh to QuickDraw.

December 25, 2002, 01:48 PM
Still me, last I checked! :D

Red Dragon
December 25, 2002, 03:34 PM
I haven't been a member but I have gone to TFL for several years now reading the different posts. When I found out that TFL was being shut down, I was seriously bummed. Then, Nightcrawler told me to join here. And here I am :D

Jason Demond
December 25, 2002, 06:23 PM
Mine is the same.:)

December 25, 2002, 06:30 PM
Yep, I changed my user name. I was Sandhawk on TFL, but decided to go with the whole name here.

December 25, 2002, 06:53 PM
Not me where you see same old riddleofsteel.

December 25, 2002, 07:34 PM
Went from Jhp147 to JHP147. Just looks better, and most folks called me JHP when they addressed me, anyway. Does case count? I'm Jhp147 @ 1911forum and sheepdog at a couple of other places, if anybody cares.

December 25, 2002, 07:54 PM
Changed my screen name from "Phillip" to "Kuroineko."

December 25, 2002, 07:56 PM
Itsa me! Dactah JONES!

Actually, I do NOT derive my name from the movies, but that's a whole other story... WAKE UP NOW!!!

I must complement everyone who has changed their names: Thank you for putting your old name in your sig!!! Eases the confusion!!!

Barbie Girl's Doctor....

December 25, 2002, 09:23 PM
Red Dragon, welcome! Thanks for joining in...good crew here.

December 25, 2002, 09:29 PM
I'm still 'Erik.'

Though I was 'edenver' prior to 1999. (Record of the old name, along with the personal information and stats disappeared somewhere along the way, though.

Changed mine from WaltherP99man for a couple of reasons.
First was to avoid confusion with my compadre quoted above.
Second WaltherP99man came from the gun I no longer have, my sig line on most of the other boards is a spin off of my first name so I decided to start anew with that name here.

December 25, 2002, 10:38 PM
Kept the same.

December 25, 2002, 10:42 PM
I was private_idaho, but I have been talking (posting) more lately so I figured the private wasn't applicable any longer.

Not I, said Kcustom45

December 26, 2002, 12:28 AM
I was:The JAMES L. SMITH.Still am on my birth certificate.

December 26, 2002, 12:46 AM
Changed mine. Think I'll wait a bit, just to see if anyone can tell who I used to be.....I mean, who I was before......or maybe who I am now........or, er.......I mean.......oh, shoot......................I forgot who I am.

Just kidding. New here myself.

December 26, 2002, 01:43 AM
I tried to simple it down for me to not forget, and in this case it was my name!:D
I actually am trying to standardize on one simple (for me at least!) unusual name that won't show up as taken, which has happened a couple of times as of late.
So- it went from
Dave Cameron
dacinokc aka david alan cameron in Oklahoma City

Confused?

At least I'm not:rolleyes:

December 26, 2002, 02:09 AM
same O same O:cool:

December 26, 2002, 03:19 AM
I lost the "_II" at the of my handle.
Makes things easier when you use the same name on each discussion board.

December 26, 2002, 03:43 AM
Was GUTTERbOY, now misANTHrope. Getting a bit tired of the old name, and I feel I've outgrown it over the 4-5 years I've been using it.

No, it means she is the magazines new art director, so when you see all the flawless layout work, and design graphics be sure to give her all the credit :D

December 26, 2002, 08:59 AM
I changed. My name here is consistent with my GlockTalk name now.

December 26, 2002, 10:33 AM
Too lazy to change and the old one was still available.

Politically Incorrect
December 26, 2002, 11:02 AM
I'm still and probably always will be politically incorrect!

December 26, 2002, 11:36 AM
Same name but sharper then ever.

December 26, 2002, 11:40 AM
Formerly Covert Mission on TFL and elsewhere (aka Mall Ninja too some places). Now: Gobhainn. New year, new site, new name. ;)

Bottom Gun
December 26, 2002, 11:45 AM
Thought about being "The New Improved Bottom Gun" but I haven't improved much.

Ain't shootin' any better either.

Fudgie Ghost
December 26, 2002, 12:52 PM
My name is the same. Since it's my real name, I don't have to remember any stupid sounding nickname that makes no sense.

December 26, 2002, 01:09 PM
I was able to drop the -1 at the end of my name. :)

December 26, 2002, 01:13 PM
Not me ;)

Kurt S.
December 26, 2002, 01:22 PM
Just a little bit. My old TFL name was ckurts, derived from a Unix logonid of long ago. I go by Kurt in real life anyway.

As has been mentioned, it's great to see the old familiar folks around, though!

December 26, 2002, 01:57 PM
I needed to change my TFL handle anyway. This was the boot in the rear I needed

December 26, 2002, 02:10 PM
I did. Thought I'd go with something short and vague.

I thought about using my real name, but I can't spell it using the English alphabet. There is also the additional danger that someone might try to pronounce it and that could become downright nasty! :D

December 26, 2002, 02:21 PM
Still the same old Correia. (Its my actual name. Pronounced Korea, like the country).

December 26, 2002, 02:36 PM
Nope - kept mine the same, & I use it everywhere when I can!

December 26, 2002, 02:47 PM
Not bright enough to remember another name...

December 26, 2002, 02:48 PM
Mine is the same.

December 26, 2002, 06:25 PM

December 26, 2002, 07:37 PM
Nope. Still boat trash.

December 26, 2002, 08:53 PM
I did. I'll let you figure out who I used to be.
Winner gets 10 dozen eggs from our wonderful flock.

December 26, 2002, 09:20 PM
Still gbelleh.

It's good to see most of the familiar names still here!

George Hill
December 26, 2002, 09:30 PM
Yeah, This time you put the emphasis on the "Hill".

December 26, 2002, 09:32 PM
I kinda hung my full name out there on other forums but for brevity went to first name on TFL and had to add b. as the name was taken. hence: gordo b. becomes Gordon.

December 26, 2002, 10:32 PM
Same as it was at TFL...:)

December 27, 2002, 02:08 AM
I changed mine, altho not sure why- I was pretty much a lurker there.

What a great site TFL was...I think THR will do its memory justice.

December 27, 2002, 02:11 AM
Changed from "Mister Rogers" to "mack", as that is the name I use on the other board I mostly post at, AssaultWeb, and because it was taken, (though never used by whoever had it), at TFL so I couldn't use it there.

December 27, 2002, 06:16 AM
Kept mine. I am still the Dad of three and I hope I'm not gonna add any more :D
I'm glad so many kept their names. It's nice to recognize so many.

December 27, 2002, 06:30 AM
Well my Signature says it all:D

December 27, 2002, 07:54 AM
I was Eric Larsen in my past lifetime...now PCRCCW. I could tell all of you why, but then Id have to .........
Shoot well

December 27, 2002, 08:15 AM
stans is still stans. I decided to keep the nickname that was pinned upon me in college. Short, simple, and I have registered with it everywhere, so why change now?

December 27, 2002, 01:03 PM
Changed mine. I was R Varn at TFL, but I've used Cabby at Ar15 and Glocktalk, so I thought I'd be consistent.

Big Al
December 27, 2002, 01:06 PM
I'm still Big Al, same as on all the other forums.

December 27, 2002, 02:49 PM
Still the same here.

Though, if there is a Lone_Gunman... maybe I should have changed. :D

December 27, 2002, 03:10 PM
Still robear for me...

Like stans, it's a nickname I picked up earlier in my life, and now seems to be a common username for me..

Stay safe!!

December 27, 2002, 03:26 PM
Changed mine from an obscure story of years gone by to a silly pun that hit me in the night.

December 27, 2002, 03:36 PM
From Herb Leventhal to 44Caliber
(1) My legal name is too long to type
(2) I wanted to get more in the spirit of the forum. I shoot at least 5000 44 magnums each year so henceforth the new handle of 44 Caliber
By the way who bears the expense for this new forum? Perhaps a small contribution from each member would help keep it alive for a long period of time!
44 Caliber

* I am beginning to really like my new name. I may go to court and make it my "legal name":p

December 27, 2002, 04:10 PM
No change here, I'm Kestryll everywhere I post.
How do you find out what number you were with TFL? Several have a number listed in thier sig line.

December 27, 2002, 04:38 PM
I was mostly a "lurker" on The Firing Line (LadydeeJ) so I decided to change my name to coincide with all the other forums I visit.

December 27, 2002, 05:19 PM
I have changed. Was rob_p90; sold the Ruger, so needed something new. Always got a rueful chuckle from these quips.

December 27, 2002, 05:30 PM
When I first started this in '98 I was known as Bear both here and on AR15.com

In '99, the servers crashed, software was corrupted, and I was finishing grad school. When I came back after a 9-month hiatus, my nickname had been snagged.

From '99 till yesterday I was Bear Flare. I now re-claim my rightful title! HAA hahahahahah!

December 27, 2002, 05:52 PM
Not me. I try to get Chickenhawk whenever I can (sometime's it's taken).

First post!! :D

Nando Aqui
December 27, 2002, 06:21 PM
Just spelled it properly - used to be "nandoaqui"

December 27, 2002, 06:34 PM
I've been wanting this handle! I was Randy63 on TFL. Actually I'm still Randy.

Study Butte
December 27, 2002, 09:39 PM
Same, too hard to keep track of user names and passwords.

December 27, 2002, 10:43 PM
I changed mine.

A secret I'll take to the grave.

December 27, 2002, 10:52 PM
Yikes! KevlarTester,

I hope that name doesn't REALLY come from personal experience!

December 27, 2002, 11:21 PM
I changed, but I have been through many incarnations throughout the oh, 8 years or so I've been posting things. Yes, they once called my Zentox, or RevZen, even boltactionmag or dial911. Now I am Galdalf the White, err, Metatron.

December 27, 2002, 11:33 PM
No change here

December 27, 2002, 11:34 PM
Still so boring that I use my last name as my screen name...

December 28, 2002, 03:22 AM
...... an enemy of the people.

December 28, 2002, 05:36 AM
Way back when I joined TFL, I was pretty new to the BB / Forum thing and used the first thing that popped into my head. Slisher became Slish based on nicknames.

Moondancer was my "handle" years ago during the CB phase of my life, and I thought of it again just a couple weeks ago. Always kinda liked it, so I thought I'd change the persona here at THR.

December 28, 2002, 05:50 AM
I kept the same name I had on TFL. I post on several forums and the same name keeps me from getting confused.

December 28, 2002, 07:09 AM
I kept the same name so that the people I offend here will know it's the same person who did it to them on TFL :D

Gray Peterson
December 28, 2002, 07:50 AM
I used to be LonWilson. Now I'm Lonnie Wilson.

I also go by the name Gray Fox, and also Glock. Yep, I was unable to grab up those usernames from TFL and now I have THR. Very cool. :)

December 28, 2002, 10:04 AM
Same name.

New board. Good to see so many familiar names here.

Thanks to Oleg and all who put this together.

December 28, 2002, 10:20 AM
I have a hard enough time remembering this one.:o

December 28, 2002, 12:35 PM
No Change.

December 28, 2002, 02:42 PM
Grampster here, grampster there, Grampster everywhere. Got the handle from my grandkids. Now everybody is starting to call me that. Badge of honor due to its origin.:D

December 28, 2002, 02:47 PM
I didn't need to change mine. I was surprised no one had taken Yohan yet. Go me!

December 28, 2002, 03:26 PM
Well, this is my first post on The High Road and I am pleased to take part. I was a member of The Firing Line for just under two years and used to post there as "NG Bruce". I decided to switch to my SASS alias "Odessa" as I have been using that as my "internet name" on all other forums I post at (Ruger, S&W, Marlin, BearTooth, and SASS. Just happy to have another TFL like forum as TFL was unique. Odessa

December 28, 2002, 03:52 PM
&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspHi all! I just heard about this forum today, and decided to grab my normal user name before someone else got it. I use Drifter on all the forums I'm registered with except the Pravda forum, where I got banned, and had to sneak back in as John Nada.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspI didn't change my name from The Fireing Line because I never registered there because someone else had the name, and like a lot of other posters I didn't want to get myself confused by using a bunch of different ones.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspAnd no, I didn't steal my name from an active Fireing Line poster. There was a Drifter registered there, but the last time I checked he hadn't posted anything in over three years, so I figure I have a right to the name after so long.

December 28, 2002, 04:58 PM
No change.

Warn't broke. Didn't fix it. 'Nuff said.

Average Guy
December 28, 2002, 05:10 PM
I'm different on every forum I sign up for. I get bored very quickly. Story of my life.

December 28, 2002, 05:43 PM
I didn't. this one works fine for most of the places I go.

December 28, 2002, 05:52 PM
Not me!

December 28, 2002, 06:20 PM
Droped the b243 in Butchb243 . Couldn't get Butch on TFL as it was already taken by someone who never posted.

December 29, 2002, 12:55 AM
Changed. Read Steven Pressfields's 'Gates of Fire' account of the Spartans at Thermopylae recently. I found this particular character impressive.

December 29, 2002, 01:28 AM
Used my full name - Gary L. Griffiths - on TFL. Seems a bit formal, so I thought I'd go with something a little more informal. Since "Griff" was already taken, went with my old mascot symbol (I used to do investigative hypnosis). Looking forward to receiving the same top-notch info on this board that I got from TFL. Thanks, Oleg.

December 29, 2002, 01:57 AM
Same here and all but one place (1973)

When I started this net thing my name and any variation taken.
So I used the year I graduated from HS.
Family joke with 4 sibs parents made a big deal out of calling us by wrong name and confusing B-days. Parents got cockey (wrote them down in wallets) and asked to be quizzed "we know you kids". Me -'yeah well when did I graduate?' [dumb blank stare] when did bro grad and where" [dumb blank stare] Understand this info now written down in wallets...durn eldest son may ask someday [smirk]

December 29, 2002, 02:38 AM
I was Cowdogpete.

It's the name I've used for sometime on various boards.

I am a range officer for a firearms training facility in Colorado. The owner has a name for everyone, he calls me Smoke. I thought it fitting for the enviroment here.

December 29, 2002, 03:14 AM
same name, new place, good to be here, sad to see TFL go...tom

December 29, 2002, 03:19 AM
I'm still me. :)

I understand how your parents feel about all that. My kids don't much mind me calling each by his brothers' names, but get a little upset when I get the dog's name mixed in! :D

One thing they never tell you about child raising is that for the rest of your life, at the drop of a hat, you are expected to know your child's name and how old he or she is. -- Erma Bombeck

December 29, 2002, 03:27 AM
OT, but you'll appreciate this. My good friend not worth a hoot at being around babies...clueless. But he knows hunting dogs. So he goes hunting, daughter about a year old, the one dog is upset about not going hunting, baby is crying, doorbell rings, telemarketers on the phone...wife is frazzled...dog is eating the kids food and the baby girl is into his dog food. Mom lets out a sigh, brushes her back " aw to heck with it...both had shots...I give up"...:D

I think she was glad I brought some groceries over...she was about to forget adult talk....sound familar pax?

December 29, 2002, 03:39 AM
All too familiar! :D

Back when we had three still in diapers, I had many days like that. Have a picture of one of the babies crawling on the floor underneath the high chair that the other baby was sitting in. Wasn't until the picture was developed that I realized that he and the dog had been competing for the dropped leftovers...

A dog teaches a boy fidelity, perseverance, and to turn around three times before lying down. -- Robert Benchley
