my wife recently inherited her fathers wini single shot 60-22, and she thinks she remembers him saying it had belonged to his father, it doesn't have a serial number that we can find, but does have "patent pending" on the barrel. any ideas on how old this is? (basicaly is it old enough to have belonged to her grandfather?).

Nanaimo Barr, the Winchester Model 60 was made from 1930-1934 with a total of 160,754 being manufactured. Originally the Model 60 was issued with a 23" barrel. This was changed to a 27" barrel in 1933. The Model 60 was not serialized so it would be extremely difficult to pinpoint the exact year of manufacture for this model of rifle. Hope this helps!

thank you Steve, this one messures out at 23 inches crown to breech, so it's a fair bet that it was made before '34, and that makes it possible for it to have been my grandfather in laws.

thanks for the rapid answer, my would say thank you as well I'm sure.

Wife does say thank you :) It is really nifty to have something else of my grandpa's (the other thing I have is a refrigerator he made me out of wood when I was a little'un. It is now in my kitchen as my herb and liquer cabinet).
