My Alessi Talon clip broke-HELP!!

May 19, 2008, 10:26 AM
I normally carry a G33 in a Talon Plus,and recently the plastic clip broke in half.I've called Alessi TWICE,with no response.I've emailed 3 times,no response.:banghead:

So much,at least in my eyes, for his reputation for good customer service,I guess he can't be bothered with such a trivial thing as after-sales service.

Enough of the rant, does anyone have a source for the Talon clips?I have a local leather shop that can re-sew the new clip in the holster, but I can't find any of the clips. Thanks in advance...

"To anyone reading the following thread,my percieved lack of response from Lou Alessi regarding my broken holster was my error for failure to update my email addresses on certain boards,NOT a lack of response on the part of Mr Alessi".

Any follow up on this?

IMHO Lou earned, deserves and lives up to his reputation for good service. On the other hand it is a one man - and his family - shop and if Lou isn't handy everything will stop.

To the best of my knowledge and belief the Talon is a Lou Alessi product with a patent although he has, as I think typical of the man, allowed other fine holster makers to use his ideas and products. I would expect any of the holster makers using the Talon to be willing to help any of Mr. Alessi's customers as though they were Lou himself. Josh Bulman uses the Talon by permission of Mr. Alessi but I'd expect Mr. Bulman to be hard to get ahold of given recent circumstances that don't apply to Mr. Alessi.

In the event of continued failure to reach Mr. Alessi, which I find inexplicable, I would try Craig and Audrey at Lightning - as an Alessi dealer I have found them interested, concerned and helpful -

you sure you got the right email address?
All my contact with Lou has been by email and is always prompt in responding.

I am shocked your clip broke.

Clark,I started with lightning arms and their web links, they do not stock the clips.

Matt,I used an email address that was in a profile Mr Alessi uses on a gun forum. It's possible I got a bad address, but I also called twice and left my number on his answering machine, with no response.

I have no doubt that he's a fine man,but in my case,he has dropped the ball...And that's a shame,I really liked his holsters...

Hello Kirk,, A little birdie told me I should check in here.
If you e-mailed me, I never received the e-mail. I always answer E-mail, usually within the same day. I know a lot of people claim not to receive E-mails when there is a problem, but just to make sure, I just went back through all my E-mails for the last month, and didn't find anything about a broken clip.

I just checked our old messages on our answering machine, and don't find anything from you either. Of course that may have been erased accidentally.

Our phone number is 716-691-5615

E-mail is

Now, for the problem at hand, just send the holster back to us, and we will install a new clip no charge. Those clips are guaranteed for life. We'll have it back to you within a week.

Our address is:
Alessi Holsters, Inc.
2465 Niagara Falls Blvd.
Amherst, NY 14228

The last two posts demonstrate why I love my "Uncle Lou", even if I am older than him. I have had a lot of dealings with Lou Alessi and he is "TOP SHELF"! Regards, Richard:)

Ran across this thread and was going to tell kirkcdl to just send it back, but Lou beat me to it. I've used his stuff for many yrs and have managed to break two clips. Both times Lou had them repaired and back to me ASAP.

I've seen alot of leather but in my carry class I tell the folks you can spend time and money on crap or you can order world class leather from Lou.

Mr Alessi,I apologize, both for questioning your integrity, which was not intended but my OP does look that way,and for my delayed response to your post.

Over the years I've registered on many boards, and apparently I have missed a few when updating my email address, the email address I used was from a Google search I did,and I guess it was from a board I haven't frequented in a long time,I honestly was so excited to find an email address I did not check to see if my return email was correct.

You have a stellar reputation, both for your quality products, and your customer service.Granted,it's generally known you are very busy, and therefore it cannot be expected that you spend hours online hanging out on various boards. This is why I was disappointed after several days,to get no response, and the gentleman from Lightning Arms was even more surprised than I was over the lack of return contact.I see now that this was MY error, not yours.

I have already removed the broken clip,as I had originally planned to have a local leather shop,(45+ years of leather experience),sew a replacement clip on if I located one.I will put the holster in the mail tomorrow.

Thank you once again for replying.I have to say,for the benefit of anyone that has not tried your products, and by the following comment I am NOT attempting to start a comparison thread, this is ONLY my opinion, but when I got my Versa Max II I thought I had found the ultimate carry holster for my USPc,and I still carry with it on occasion, but I obtained one of your Talon Plus holsters for my Kahr P40 and I liked it so much I got this one for my USPc.The Talon Plus is my "everyday use" holster now,for whichever gun I decide to carry at the monent,so to anybody that hasn't tried an Alessi product, you're missing out.

One last time thanks for the response, and I have attempted to edit my OP to at least blunt some of my stupidity regarding my contact info, but I cannot, for some reason,so I have emailed the Mods to see if they can help...:o

Thank you for the OP edit,Brian...

Kirk, I'm glad that got cleared up. I was worried about that E-mail not getting through.
You're holster is repaired, and will go out Monday..
Thanks a million for the last post. I really appreciate that very much. Most people probably wouldn't take the time to make that correction.
Thanks again,

Alessi Talon holsters tend to hold up. Mine has been around for 8-10 years and still look brand new. Some have been passed along even:

Oh great!! Now we have the first post in what may become the "What's the best Gun/Holster Combo for Washing Dishes"

I have 4 Alessi holsters. I plan to order at least 2 more in the next six months.

If we could wrap up our new Union Contract, I would order them now.
