I think I need new grips for my 25-5

I love my Smith & Wesson 25-5 6" .45 Colt, I really do. THe checkered walnut grips look great, but they aren't the most comfortable for me.

See, I have funny hands. They're nto that big, but my fingers are long. Thus, guns like double stack .45s (except the Glock 21, thanks to its finger grooves) fit me fine, whereas guns with really thin grips don't.

The 25-5 has a hand filling grip, but that's not the problem. The problem is my middle finger knuckle seems to hit the back of the trigger guard, unless I hold the revolver lower than I would instinctively.

Suggestions for new grips?

With long fingers, maybe a grip that covers the backstrap would help. I've got a Pachmayr Gripper in my parts box, you're welcome to it.

Actually, I think something like you've got on your weapon there in that picture might do the trick. What kind of grips are those?

A lot of the 625 and 610 shooters around here seem to like these:

Those are Hogue monogrips. I have them on all my S&W revolvers and most of my other handguns as well.

They are open on the backstrap area however...

I like the esthetics of the S&W target grips, but they are a little much for me. I went to the trimmer Spegel Target ++'s on my N-Frame. Less filling...Great taste. :)

I have either Pachmayr Presentations or Grippers on my Smith N frames. I found Smith wood grips hard to hold onto at times, and somewhat irritating to the hand otherwise. Hogue rubber grips always felt too hard to me.

Midsouth Shooters Supply Co in Clarksville, TN has a good selection of revolver grips, speedloaders too, www.midsouthshooters.com.
