I work in a archery and gun shop part time and the owner traded for a Manchester Arms Lenoir Tenn. 45 cal simi-auto. Now this is as uggly a gun as I have ever seen. It sort of looks like a Uzzy or short Thompson 45 and it has a 30 round mag that hangs in front of the trigger. This thing is so heavy you have to hold the mag to shoot it. No I do not have a camera to t a picture.
He sent it home with me to see if I could get it to feed as it wants to jam the feed ramp is the problem as it is plastic and rough so I smoothed it out as much as possable.
Now the question do any of you have any idea about the history of this "pistol" and is there any possability of finding parts?
forgot to tell you the length it is 16" long 10" tal with the mag 5" without it 1 3/4" wide at the widest part and the weight empty is 5#

Not certain from your description Freightman, but it sound a little bit like a Sites Spectre. The were available in .45ACP, had a 4 column 30round magazine, and were imported by a number of companies.
Take a gander at the pic below and see if that's the gun.

Looks a little like it but the front is different. This one was made in the USA in Tenn. and has Commando Mark- 45 as the model no.

Commando, later Volunteer Enterprises, was located in Knoxville. They originally made the Commando as a cheap lookalike to the Thompson SMG. They were poorly made and the early ones fired from an open bolt, which got the company into trouble with BATF. They changed that, and then they tried a "pistol" version, which seems to be what you have.
It is of the general class the antis have called an "assault pistol" and they are banned in some areas. (In MD, they are banned unless registered when the law was passed 20 or so years ago.)
In any case, the guns were poorly made and very unreliable. The carbines were inaccurate, and the barrels seemed to have very shallow rifling. I don't know about the pistols, not having fired one. IMHO, they are all junque.

The ugliest pistol of all time, and a real candidate for the biggest POS, too, is the Japanese Type 94.
Yes, it's the "Chunder Five", hideously inaccurate, insanely powerful, ergonimically nightmarish. With 3" magnum 410s, a threat to anything anywhere near the barrel's direction, and then some :).
Ambi safeties! DA trigger varies between "bad" and "Godawful"! Sights are pathetic! At close range, a highly effective club!
Yes, it's the CHUNDER FIVE!

re: the Chunder
wasn't that the pistol that the redneck in Three Kings (played by Spike Jones) was carrying around? I had wondered what the heck that thing was...

A little different perspective, I suppose. To me, if you're talking PURE AESTHETICS, not function, quality or anything else, the ugliest pistol ever made:
A tie between the AMT Automag and the Colt 1911.

Re: 3 Kings,
Yeah, in one of the deleted scenes his favorite gun shop sends him one hidden in a foil-wrapped Easter bunny. It is part of the early scene in which they are all dancing around in the tent. In another deleted scene he accidentaly shoots an inflatable decoy vehicle with it from an ungodly distance for a handgun, let alone a handheld shotgun.

Have to go with Lancel on the Dardick. That's ugly with a pitiful attitude!
Long live the Dardick! The Tround will not be mocked! :D

I present you with the Japanese Type 94 pistol. Unquestionable the ugliest gun (and biggest POS) of all time:
That 94 Nambu is the Ugliest handgun I've ever encounterd.
Even had the chance to fire one a few decades back, original military ammo. God alone knows where the bullets went - there were dust clouds on the berm, but no holes in the paper at 10 yds. Wish the pic had come up, this thing wins Hands Down:rolleyes:

This hideous thing gets my vote. I still can't believe that my beloved HK made this thing. ( HK VP70 ) http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/images/smilies/barf.gif

NAAA! THE uggggliest pistol in the world was the S&W M10 (pencil 4" barrel) I kept under the seat of my truck for a couple of years. Second gun I ever owned. When I traded it ( rust, dings, cracked grips and all) the local dealer laughed out loud, but gave me $100 for it anyway, and earned a customer for life. :D
January 28, 2003, 10:06 PM
Or maybe the Bergmann....
January 29, 2003, 12:40 AM
Huh? The VP70 looks pretty dang good!
January 29, 2003, 02:40 AM
I would have to vote for either the...
Liberator Pistol or...
the Deer Gun
January 29, 2003, 03:56 AM
I'll agree with Steven on this one. t
January 30, 2003, 01:29 AM
I vote for the Grendel p30. I know, 30 rounds is cool, but man is it ugly.
