I know a lot of bad press has been written about the mod 10 but What is this thing worth???

pull the trigger

DUh?!
it slid right back together then...

Take down should be:
pull the trigger
push release and rotate the mag end connection
pull out the mag and pull forward on the forend
rotate the barrel 1/4 turn pull front

I had not pulled the trigger first.

Reassembly is easier then just reverse the steps.

What is it worth????????

It is probably 60% finish
no rust
forend checkering is just a pattrern of lines and the buttstock has been replaced with a homemade stock of weird formation and a junque buttpad.

I also have a Remington model 10 take down. It too has made me look foolish trying to put it back together. While I think the buttstock is original, the butt plate is an obvious home-made replacement, (unless Remington made buttplates from rubber belts in the early years of the 20th century).

My understanding is that the model 10 was extremely popular in the first 3 decades of the last century. Some one once told me that the serial number on my gun indicated it had been purchased by American Express in 1915. "Don't leave home without it!"
