What do you want to see about or see pictures of?

The 2012 Shot Show is less than a month away and some of the staff will be there to see and report on who will be new for the coming year. We'd be interested in hearing what the membership is interested in hearing about and/or seeing pictures of.

If you enjoyed reading about "SHOT Show 2012" here in TheHighRoad.org archive, you'll LOVE our community. Come join TheHighRoad.org today for the full version!

Kick the tires on that $99 polymer complete lower they have been talking about. I am itching to buy one, would like some first hand evaluation before pulling the trigger.

If you guys get to shoot that Colt 7.62/5.56 convertable on media day would love to hear about that--and anything Colt is up to.

See if the slim line Glock 9mm or the Glock carbine are there.

Ducking for cover.

Interested in new innovative handguns and what's new and lightweight in the 223s.

Two things come to mind
1. I'd love to see if Rufer has new versions of the Gunsite Scout.
2. I'd love for someone to talk to the Marlin, Remington folks and have a frank discussion regarding the lever actions manufactured in the new plant. I got one and it should have never passed QC and went out the door. Its being fixed by a reputable gunsmith on my dime. They halted production on many lever action models 2H2011 and I'd love to hear a honest answer on what they've done. I'm a huge marlin fan and am hopeful this mfg hickup is fixed soon.

Dhow that stuff that's different! An AR is an AR, we've all seen them. Not much else can be done to them. Same with 1911's. Unless it's a new model or a drastically new variation, why bother? Otherwise it's like going to an auto show and showing pictures of a model car that doesn't have any changes to it.

why go? So I can talk to my distributors in person and be there to get in on the front end of the alloted items which everyone wants. To see any new products and be able to order them right there so I can get them sooner than later.
To be able to connect straight to the makers of most products without going threw a middle man (distributor).
My share for a round trip airfare and 4 nights at a nice casino next to the convention is like $270. Since I do not gamble anymore I go for the show, great food and entertainment. Plus the collectors show at the riviara is a great place to pick up that hard to find gun or part you have been looking for.
yeah some of that I can do on the phone but heck for going for that low price and to get a chance to get out of this cold weather for a few days is well worth it.

Anything new in the compact/sub-compact conceal carry market.

Anything new and interesting in accessories like scopes, holsters, belts, slings, bags, etc.

Hawthorne2k
January 2, 2012, 10:44 PM
The new Ruger .22 is interesting: Looks to be a great training gun for their SR9/SR40/SR9C and a complement to their new .22 wheelgun.

I'd like to see them complete the series with a .22 version of the LCP and LC9. I like my P3AT, but training with it is a royal pain in the...

... hands. :D

Also, the .223 black rifle craze is well-played out, but the market for pistol caliber carbines consists of the Kel-Tec Sub200o, the Beretta CX4, and various lever guns, and that's about it. Ruger could do worse to revive the Police Carbine with a folding stock and rails galore.

Now that the company has it's H.P. White testing laboratory report back, you might want to stop by the Teludyne Tech Industries booth and see how to fix most of the shooting problems with conventional firearms. The STRAIGHTJACKET barrel system was introduced 3 years ago, and from arguments that the company didn't exist to the arguments that everything that was told about them was a pack of lies, they have survived and prospered during this horrible economic time. The "proof" is in the pudding, and STRAIGHTJACKETS are now available on bolt guns, AR's, and AK platforms. In fact, my PSL will be one of the display guns at shot this year, and the results just keep piling up.

The guys at Teludyne have worked 12 and 15 hour days for the past three years to make this company a go, and they have (according to results and laboratory testing) the best technology out there for accuracy and heat control for high round-count shooting.

These are great people to know, and have a product that more than proves its worth if you're a serious shooter.

I going to SHOT next week. I read on the SHOT site that only official "media" are allowed to take photos / videos. Is this true? Or do they care. I was planning on recording some of the sights visually and want to plan accordingly.

correct...but the staffing is light, and it's rare that that you will get caught with all the traffic (kind of like driving faster than the speed limit on the highway).

If you ask the company who makes the sights if you can take pictures/video, you should be fine, even if you are not official media.

I'd like info from Alliant (aka ATK) about the "Black MZ" blackpowder substitute. There has been loads of speculation out here about what exactly it is. Some say it is simply retooled older stuff, while others disagree. I need to know whether it is actually new, and if the Alliant claims about moisture resistance are real.

Tavors, .300 BLK, and Magpul 870 stuff are all neat, and I would like to see those, but my main vote will have to go to see various manufacturers of leverguns (especially big-bores). I wonder if anyone will have anything new this year (and I would like to know whether that sick monstrousity of an idea known as the Mossberg 464 SPX Tactical actually exists or not).:what:

EmGeeGeorge
January 19, 2012, 04:04 PM
I think the tactical mossberg levergun is a ploy to test out the integrity of gun-writers and reviewers... if they say "Hey, this is stupid, bad idea, ugly and pointless..." then they are good to go.

Any reviewer who says things like "fills a niche", "suprisingly innovative", etc... well, I'll never look at anything review-wise with their name on it again.
