All the pretty pictures of peoples guns posted here but I see no signs of wear on any of them.Do all of you have two sets of guns? One to show and one to carry? All mine show lots of blue gone.

Walther P99
December 27, 2002, 06:19 PM
I carry my Walther P99 almost everywhere I can carry legally. Once I upgrade to a larger caliber (hopefully sometime next year), I'll carry that gun as well.

December 27, 2002, 06:19 PM
I carry my G27, but I really haven't had my CCW long enough to cause wear marks. I carry in a Sidearmor so I don't think it will cause as much wear as leather. I also wipe-er' down frequently with a CLP cloth followed with a silicone cloth. :)

December 27, 2002, 06:25 PM
My G29 has that nice, warn in look. I have fired well over 20k rounds through it in the 2 years I have owned it.

All of my guns get fired quite a bit. My shotguns really seem to get a workout, since I enjoy shooting them the most.

December 27, 2002, 06:40 PM
I carry a Para-Ordnance C7-45 LDA daily. I don't worry about wear since being stainless steel it is easy to buff out minor blemishes, and I really don't care if it isnt perfect as long as it shoots when I pull the trigger and the bullet goes in the K5

December 27, 2002, 06:47 PM
I carry mine. "Cept when I don't.:D

December 27, 2002, 07:54 PM
When I can.:D ;)

December 27, 2002, 08:23 PM
Not here. Not yet, anyway.

December 27, 2002, 08:34 PM
Whenever I'm not at work, I carry!!!

December 27, 2002, 08:38 PM
It's rare to be able to legally carry here in CA. I can't so I don't. On the plus side, it keeps my guns looking new and pretty. :p

December 27, 2002, 08:46 PM
Does anyone carry their guns????

[As I put on my CR Sam hat]

Yup! :D

(I saw Gary do this once on TFL,so I figured why not.) ;)

December 27, 2002, 09:04 PM
My carry piece is stainless steel, it has a bit of blemish on one side from being in my right front pocket everyday of the week.

December 27, 2002, 09:09 PM
I carry a Glock-19 everyday, but it does not show much wear.

December 27, 2002, 09:12 PM
I often carry a stainless Mod 60 LS and it looks like new. I take it when out for walks every morning and when out quail hunting (for snakes, etc.) Does not get any abuse.

Worn scratched guns with missing blueing rarely make the owner want to run out and buy a $300 dig-cam- Thats my little club anyway ;)

December 27, 2002, 10:13 PM
It's definitely been carried.

I keep touching up the parkerizing on my Officer's ACP, otherwise it'd look more like the Kahr.

December 27, 2002, 10:13 PM
Here's my carry gun, which has been carried for nearly 4 years. In fact the old holster wore out, and this photo shows my new-at-the-time OWB High Noon. No noticeable wear in photo, but the bottom of the trigger guard does have some shiny spots from insertion into the holster.

December 27, 2002, 10:20 PM
But if I had one, I could show you a Hi Power and G23 that both need reparkerizing, and a worn bead blasted 640-1. OTOH, there is really nothing wrong with honest wear :)....

December 27, 2002, 10:23 PM
Ahhh......yep. Carry either my Kimber Ultra CDP, or my Colt Mustang, or my Makarov.

December 28, 2002, 01:30 AM
Oh, yeah. . .I pack it a lot. But being stainless, and carried in a nice suede holster or sometimes in soft cotton in a fanny pack, it doesn't show a lot of wear.

Now, my blue Colt .45 SAA is another story. It shows many years of holster wear.

... Note the wear & tear on the bottom two (especially the very bottom one) but the top one is in mint condition.

December 28, 2002, 02:11 AM
Did you ever see the movie "Dogs of War"? Oh yes- I carry, along with guns near the door, and in the fridge, and in the bathroom and even on the garage bench. In the car, in the briefcase, and in the wintercoat.
I usually carry the 239 sig in 40 S&W or the P-99 in 9mm. When my clothing permits, I carry a 1911 style.
My Ed Brown Custom Classic is a favorite for carry.
This is not to say I don't have a bunch of vault queens, I do. But I do have daily users also.
And the one in the ice box.....;)

December 28, 2002, 02:58 AM
I carry this one about 4-6 times a week, its a tribute to the toughness of Bear Kote. Im too ashamed to take a pic of my NAA 22 that always rides in my front pocket, its waaaaaay to disgusting...

December 28, 2002, 03:44 AM
If I have my pants on, I carry.

December 28, 2002, 03:49 AM
Carry-very rarely
Wear- everyday(except detectors and restricted areas)

December 28, 2002, 07:12 AM
Kimber Compact CDP most every day. Variety of holsters - BladeTech paddle, Fobus Roto-Paddle, Galco Summer Special, Sparks #60 TK OWB, and sometimes just Mexican. No real discernable wear on it as yet.
Just gave a digital camera to the Mrs. for Christmas so maybe I'll post on one of those "show us yer gun" threads that pop up every so often.

December 28, 2002, 08:12 AM
The one I carry all the time is my Colt Pocket Nine... just rides in my jacket/pant pocket. Stainless, so not much wear to show. I carry my bigger guns on "special occasions."

December 28, 2002, 08:56 AM
I'd really like to carry a handgun!

But that is legally impossible in that benighted cesspool of my fatherland!!!

December 28, 2002, 08:58 AM
I wear mine everyday, and it shows. Its going to show wear and tear, no matter what you carry it in. Face it, its going to get beat up, especially if you are active. This Commander started out as a blued gun. Sweat and leather dont mix, especially in SE PA in the summer. It didnt take long for it to rust, even being wiped down a couple of times daily. Once leather is wet, it stays that way, unless you have a holster for each day. Its been hard chormed and has held up pretty well since I went to a Kydex holster, but it still needs to be stripped and gone over on a regular basis.

December 28, 2002, 10:38 AM
If I have my pants on ....well, you know! My carry guns not only get carried, shot..babied loved and read bed time stories every night....they are also the molds for my holsters.....versatile little buggers......shoot well

December 28, 2002, 10:48 AM
I carry when not at work, and I do have 2 of the same style pistols but I don't have a carrying pistol and a showing off pistol per say I just polish any wear marks off of them as they are stainless:cool:

December 28, 2002, 11:35 AM
Been working on wearing the "Armor-Tuff" finish off my CQB. Another six months and I should be able to justify a new finish :)

December 28, 2002, 12:30 PM
Hello. Yes, I carry them....
You'll note the shiney areas on the Commander's parkerized slide. It's "worse" on the other side.

Anodizing is worn away along the edges...

December 28, 2002, 12:47 PM
yep, carry the P-11 and/or P-32 all the time I'm not at work.

December 28, 2002, 01:01 PM
Carry mine all the time when Im home in Az. Glock 19 doesnt wear too much in a Kydex holster. Comp-Tac undercover works for me. I carry in a Gould & Goodrich leather belt holster in the winter and it seems to be wearing the slide down a little but who needs a show pistol when its for self defense?

December 28, 2002, 03:09 PM
Carry all the time. My carry guns are all stainless steel. A little Flitz will remove almost any handling marks on stainless.

December 28, 2002, 05:09 PM
I carry when legally able.

December 28, 2002, 07:08 PM
All day every day legal or otherwise.

My HK USP .40 is showing wear on the slide. Now it looks cool!!:D

December 28, 2002, 08:26 PM
Here's me Colt. Lotsa holster wear but runs great.

Dang, still wont work. Gotta figure this posting thing out...

December 28, 2002, 09:27 PM
I carry a P7PSP that was tefloned by Briley. In 18 months of carry only mild wear of the finish on the front leading edge of the slide from the holster. (Milt Sparks VM2).

December 28, 2002, 09:29 PM
Imagine a well worn parkerized SA gov't 1911. That's my primary.

Imagine a Kahr MK40 I could never get LNIB prices for; that's my secondary.

Come to think of it, even my safe guns look pretty well used.

I guess that;s because they are. :)

December 28, 2002, 11:19 PM
Of course I carry my guns. Why not? But not all at once!

December 29, 2002, 12:05 AM
After a couple of blued Colt's and Springfields started showing wear inside of 6 months of carry, I've switched completely to stainless. If I ever switch back to a blued piece for carry it'll be a coated stainless.

Otherwise, a Kimber SS Pro Carry 4" in a Safariland 5181 is my constant companion.

I don't typically carry as I live in a state where that is illegal. However, I have carried my Bersa in a front pocket holster on a couple occasions when I was more worried about going where I had to go when I had to go there unprotected more than I was worried about being caught (doesn't happen often). When I had it my Taurus 605 came out with me twice I think (not much I know). I do carry some (many alternate) of my guns in a holster around the house and I do occasional holster drills for when I move/should MD become CCW/for the occasional times I ignore the law.

My Bersa is almost perfect (the slide is blue the frame is nickel) and it spends a lot of time in my front pocket around the house. My S&W 65LS is almost perfect (matte stainless). My Charles Daly 1911 has quite a bit of holster wear from the nylon hosters and a nick in the finish from when I used a kydex holster around the house (I kinda like it looking a bit worn like that- I like blue guns that are either high polished beauties or a bit worn with some character). My CZs are pretty much perfect (the polycoat finish works wonders). My Colt Police Positive Special bluing is very worn, but I got it that way. The S&W 586 has holster wear around the muzzle but I got it that way too. The 605 was perfect even though it was a blue gun and it often (usually) went around the house in my front pocket.

Carried daily doesn't have mean used and abused.

December 29, 2002, 05:13 AM
I carry all the time. Only the eldest of my pistols shows any sign of wear. It is a Series 80 Gold Cup. I can honestly say all the others are too new to show any wear!

December 29, 2002, 11:34 AM
My Colt GM and my Colt mustang show the most wear. Oddly engough they are the guns I carry the most. The mustang being a stainless pocketlite shows little wear except on the rear tang were it rubs in pocket. The 1911 shows wear near the front of the slide, from countless holsterings. The most rewarding wear is the on the right side of the trigger gaurd from my trigger finger riding outside the trigger gaurd untill the sites are on target.

December 29, 2002, 11:51 AM
My S&W 640 when I need to!
Oh! no we don't have a CCW here!

I carry but I have enough I can mix it up. Some are more worn than others, but a gun just doesn't look right until the bluing has rubbed off a bit.

December 29, 2002, 04:09 PM
Carry? no CCW in our state..............  ;)

December 30, 2002, 01:33 AM
I carry them all (but not all at once).
Ain't none of mine 'pretty'.
And only two (or three or so) are blue.

December 30, 2002, 09:27 AM
Yup, carry them now.
Used to sail them ...
but my Navy days are over!:p :(

December 30, 2002, 10:11 AM
I carry when I can, but not at work. I work at a pretty save site so I don't feel worried about having a gun locked in the glove box while I'm in the office. That's also why I don't have an NRA or gun club sticker on my automobile as not to draw unwanted attention in the parking lot at work.

December 30, 2002, 10:38 AM
Yup, I carry whenever legally possible.

December 30, 2002, 11:33 AM
The only ones I don't carry are my Mauser HSc, my SA wheelguns, and my Les Baer Concept III (huge target sights and a giant gas pedal make it somewhat impractical for CCW).

December 30, 2002, 12:56 PM
I usually carry when I am hiking in National Forests. Its hard to get a CCW in the PRK

Carry legally in Ga. Most of the time its a G&G pancake or IWB.
Galco Miami classic shoulder holster in the cooler months.

My 10 year old G-17 is wearing around the slide edges, and the crappy plastic fixed sights are getting worn down. ( If I ever get around to it the Glock facility in Smyrna will replace 'em for free. )

Only carry gun I've ever owned, or ever will own.

December 30, 2002, 01:22 PM
Are wear-resistant, or not too pretty.

There are four, one semi in stainless, one in nickel, a P32 in hard chrome and a blued FEG .380 Walther clone that's no beauty contest winner but is dead reliable and as accurate as any .380 I've shot.

December 30, 2002, 03:00 PM
Every day.

December 30, 2002, 05:53 PM
Every waking moment of every day - no exceptions (OK, 'cept when I soak in the hot tub... but then the FP-6 is within arm's reach...)

Only my G21 shows any wear after all these years...

December 30, 2002, 07:19 PM
I don't have any show guns they all get used as much as $$$ allows and carried where my C.W.L allows.

December 31, 2002, 09:39 AM
I carry all the time. I've noticed that the way I carry seems to have more effect on gun wear than the amount I carry. My Kahr K-40 shows almost no wear but I carry it IWB, almost always under a jacket or shirt.

OTOH, the S&W Model 19 I carried when I was a LEO (back when LEOs carried .357 revolvers) has great looking metal and looks new when viewed from the left side but the right side of the grip is chewed up pretty bad. The wear pattern probably doesn't make too much sense until you see where the seat belt buckle on a Crown Victoria falls on a holstered gun in a duty belt.

The overall "worst for wear" gun I own is the S&W Model 36 I carried in an ankle holster for backup. Between the dirt and smacking into things, after thousands of hours of carry it's not exactly the belle of the ball. Naturally it also holds the record for the gun that I cleaned the most times. It may not be pretty but it's still going to put a bullet downrange when I ask it to!

January 2, 2003, 01:27 AM
I remove my gun and holster as a unit, so my Glock 29 has received almost no slide wear in the 8 months I've been carrying it....every day....everywhere legal.

January 2, 2003, 11:05 AM
I have carried a gun or 2 in the past...tough in the PRK when CCW is a 4-letter word :banghead:

Maybe it's my holster or something, but almost all the wear on my Colt so far is right on the muzzle, so it doesn't show up in the pictures. Using a cheap digital camera for the pics doesn't hurt, either. :D

January 2, 2003, 06:45 PM
I have two Kimbers that have holster wear, the slide on the Pro Carry HD is getting very shiney, its just a tool for selfdefense and it gives it character.

January 2, 2003, 08:03 PM
Permit restriction: has to be visable and unloaded. Why bother...?:cuss:

Right now I live in an anti-gun state. It is illeagle to cary a gun here period.
But when I lived in AZ I did cary either my S&W, or Ruger. So they show lots of use and character.

January 3, 2003, 01:11 AM
Always wearin' but none are pretty!tom.

January 3, 2003, 10:33 AM
All mine show lots of blue gone.
Simple solution... Don't buy blued guns! :p

I only own stainless and matte finish pistols... NOTHING gets on my nerves with firearms more than an otherwise beautiful gun with worn blueing. Looks like crud!

January 3, 2003, 02:55 PM
Everyday, everywhere (including church).

January 3, 2003, 09:06 PM
I carry often where legal. ;)

The slide now shows some 'fading' wear at the muzzle and along the slide.

January 3, 2003, 11:19 PM
I carry my S&W M38. I'd like to have a duplicate.
