I would like to get a 9mm conversion barrel for my new Walther P99 .40 Auto.

Does such an animal exist? Who? What? When? Where? How?

Thanks!

I don't think anybody makes one at this time, but you might try giving Bar-Sto a call to find out for sure.

Sorry guy - can't put a 9mm barrel in a .40 or .357sig pistol. The head diameter is different.

You'll need a new slide too.

Yes the diameter between the Walther made .40s and 9mms are different but Bar-Sto had plans to make a 9mm barrel for the .40 slide. Not sure if they ever did or not though. They do/did make a .357sig barrel for the .40 slide though.

Yes... .357 <-->.40 is a legit swap. The different head (base?) size of the 9mm is a completely different problem than barrel diameter.

Maybe they machined the barrels to dfferent sizes to prevent someone from just dropping in a 9mm barrel & getting themselves mangled?

// What an appropriate thread for it... :D

Something to think about ...

Even aside from the breech face dimensional differences between 9mm & 10mm(.40) ...

The extractor and ejector (part of the sear housing block) are caliber-specific for the 99 series. Both the extractors and the sear housing blocks are marked for the specific calibers for this reason ...

A friend of mine resolved this dilema by buying one gun in each caliber.;)
