Kansas City Area (North) shoot....?

I'm willing to host a shoot up at my farm/range near Smithville, MO. About 11 miles east of the KCI Airport & a couple miles north of I-435.

Please respond with your interest in such a shoot. We can nail down a weekend (Sat or Sun) or an evening shoot(s) after work.

I'm set up for pistols (plate rack, bells, steel sheets) and of course paper.

I'm set up for rifle up to 150 yds. One steel plate capable of withstanding rifle action and of course paper.

I have "benches(s)" at 100 and 50 yards and have posts marked at 10, 15, & 25 yards.

The range is dirt, suggest we shoot on a dry day!

I also have a pop-up shade type unit we can use to eliminate some cases of sun-stroke!

Please reply here or e-mail me:

vonfatmanNOSPAMPLEASE@kcnet.com

(just take out the NOSPAMPLEASE to send me an e-mail)

Bob,

That sounds great. If it is on a Sat. I should be able to make it. I will check back for a date. I am just north of St. Joseph so it shouldn't be a bad drive.

KCMO,
Great, got you down. If it dries up...I may try to do it during one of the next two Saturdays...Saturday seems best so far.

Kamicosmos & S_O_Laban,

Great. I've got you down. I'll shout at everyone in a week or so and try to line the date up...gotta check with Karli to see what she has scheduled...I'm getting married in a bit less than a month...gotta respect that time frame.

Bob, throw my name on the list. A Saturday would be good for me too.

Put me on the list too.
A Sat or Sunday is fine with me.. I'm usually off work by 2pm.
Although my vote is for any weekend AFTER Father's day weekend.

Karli just told me I'm "open" next Saturday and I'd
like to take advantage of it since the wedding will be coming
up soon and it may be a month or so before I can set another date.

Next Saturday morning...June 19th. Let's start around 9 or 10 am (in case it's a REAL nasty hot day).

I need each of you who are interested in shooting to drop me an e-mail so I can send you directions. I will want to exchange cell/phone numbers so we can get & stay in touch. We'll hope for good weather!

If the deal goes well, then I'd be happy to consider some future shoots as well!

I apologize to those who can not make it on this date.

If we have a number of shooters, we'll need to take turns and kick back in-between shooters...

I can pretty well shoot all day (keep the range open most all day).

My e-mail will get you the details.

My e-mail:

vonfatmanNOSPAMPLEASE@kcnet.com

Remember, just take out the NOSPAMPLEASE and you will have my correct e-mail address.

Regards.

Hi guys, I'm new to this board but I've been on a couple others like Shooters, Glocktalk, Rimfirecentral, etc. I've been to Bob's range twice and it's a really nice range. We will have a ball.

Bob thanks to the link to this site, I like it. :)

By the way, if any of you would like to come out and shoot bowling pins at a range near Desoto, KS (Millcreek Rifle Range) on a Wed night, let me know. I belong to an organization out there that shoots bowling pins every wed night starting around 6:30.

Desoto is directly west of Lenexa in case you're wondering. The range is about 5 miles west of K-7 and 83rd street.

Bob, wish I could come, sounds like it's going to be a good time...

Bigmac, after my wedding (same weekend's Bob's having the shoot) I think I'm going to come out to the pin shoots... looks like fun... is this your guys's site?

That is our website.

The Mid West Pinblasters started shooting pins a LONG time ago down in the basement of the Bullet Hole in Overland Park. Several years ago we moved out to Millcreek when we finally got permission to build the 10 yard range there. Anyone is welcome on Wed night. You do not have to be a member of Millcreek to shoot pins with us. (The rest of the range is members or guests with members only.)

We got a heavy dose of unreal weather (for a change...mid-70's all day w/NO rain!)

I think we all got sunburned a bit just because most did not realize it was happening with the thin overcast and cool temps.

Some THR members who managed to make it out to shoot:
KCMO, Kamicosmos, Bigmac, S_O_Laban and Chairman.
A couple other buddies of mine also came out...Larry and son Alex and Craig.

Karli was the best as she did a terrific job of getting lunch ready and somehow, I managed to keep the brats n'dogs from burning. She made a killer pecan desert that was unexpected and appreciated. She also cleaned up the lunch mess so we “boys” could get back to the range!! Only in America!

We got the range open around 9:30am and the last cars pulled out about 7pm...we expended a BUNCH of ammo!

We hope to have photos posted here soon. I think KCMO and Kamicosmos are working on that.

Thanks to everyone for helping with the clean-up and for working so hard to be safe and thoughtful. It was a great day at the range.

I intend on hosting another "Bullets & Brats" this fall/late summer. The name may say "Annual", but we really can't limit this kind of fun to once-a-year!! I hope next time we can get even more members out to shoot!!

Oh, and guys, don’t forget to send me a snail-mail address so I can mail off the 35mm photos I took.

I had a great time as well! I enjoyed meeting everyone. The only downside seems to have been the surprise sunburn!

Here are some pics, taken by KCMO:

How about a rundown of the weaponry? Looked like some serious fun.

Rundown of the weaponry?
You name it, we had it. :D

Everything from a 2 shot 22. Mag derringer to a 40 round AK.
We had 1911’s ranging from a Chilean military surplus gun to Kimbers, to a modified and compensated Springfield Armory.
We had TWO Desert Eagles, one in .357 mag and one in .44 mag. (The guy with the .50 AE couldn’t make it Saturday.)
We had CZ’s and an EAA. in 45 acp, and a couple more CZ’s in 9 and 40. We had Glocks, we had Sigs, We had Smith and Wesson’s, Rugers, Brownings, and even a North American Arms Mini revolver.

Rifles were well represented also, there were a couple AK’s, a really nice AR Varmint rig, several 10/22s from stock to customized. A CZ452, an Anshultz 22, and several older surplus firearms. Oh yeah, we even had a black powder rifle to try!

We had iron sights, scopes, red dot sights and even a Bushnell Holosight.

In truth, I’ve been to sporting goods stores with less of a selection! :D

Then we could shoot more!
Kamicosmos & KCMO....a big thanks for taking and posting the photos!

I'm snail-mailing the 35mm shots I took today to everyone who came out.

Glad to hear everyone had a good time. I was a little bummed that I didn't make it but I did have a good time at the air show at Whiteman. :) Nice selection of iron although it gives me a good idea on what to bring next time you have one of these. I see that there are a few holes that could be filled. :D
