I am going to be spending more of my online time here. I have been hanging at 1911 forum, but it seems they have a power hungry, arrogant moderator that wants to have everyone under his thumb. Locking threads, banning pepole, closing forums and just generally showing his immature way of dealing with conflict.

I have been here since Christmas Eve and have seen lots of great people and interesting discussion. Bummer I missed TFL.

Welcome to the family, Habu! We're always eager to get new members who can contribute to the discussion. Of course, here, unlike other forums (fora?), the moderators are witty, charming, intelligent, open, good-looking... did I forget to mention "modest"??? :D

Do you mean you never showed up at TFL...? Astounding!

Anyway, the best of TFL are posting here, and TFL's archives will endure for the good of us all!

This will be a great place, born of the spirit of TFL.

Howdy, and I'll add a welcome, too.

Looks like you like blackbirds, in addition to guns.

Trapshooter, my interest in the SR-71 is predated by my love of firearms. I've been shooting since I was a kid. I shoot IPSC as well as falling plates at a local range. The blackbird is arguably one of the most complex military machine around (notwithstanding its mothballed status). Its amazing that even the Skunk Works had that kind of technology in the early 60's.

Habu tastes good also
Nasty poison snake in the highlands of Okinawa, While on jungle training in USMC we caught a couple and fried them up with some "c" rats good stuff, not much meat lots of bone but tasty. I got to see a few of the black Habu close up at Kadena Air force base in the mid 70's

I'm with you. I recently migrated here from another popular forum that I shall not name, but I too have seen forum moderators lock threads simply because they are either: a) losing an argument or b) suffer from cancer-causing levels of political correctness.

One may obtain a textbook sample of "mob behavior" and "virtual lynching" by daring to speak critically of moderator behavior. It amazes me how many people talk the talk of liberty and freedom yet refuse to practice those principles in their personal lives.

The discussion rules here seem far more fair and balanced. Discuss what you want, so long as you do so without insulting each other.

I'm thrilled to call Highroad my online home.
