I'll try and make it, although it's perilously close to my wife's due date. :D

Why do a poll on Yahoo and not here?

Can I get a link?

TechBrute
July 28, 2004, 12:31 PM
Using Yahoo, we can post several polls and then only have a single discussion thread going here.

We get a little poll happy and if we had a new thread here for every poll, there wouldn't be much cohesion to the whole discussion.

My sig line has the link to our Yahoo Group.

Sounds like a winner to me-I'm in on this one. By the end of August, we'll be having some nice cool weather around here to enjoy our range time.

Or not! :neener:

Hey guys whats up. I thought I would explain why you haven't seen me at any shoots or on the Yahoo group page. It seems that my wife read one of the "anti" cop threads on this page and began to worry about meeting people I don't necassarily know that well. I have limited my discussions here to pretty much hardware now and have began to use other forums. I wanted you guys to know that this is nothing agains anyone in particular.

Jim (Hawk) you rock...I still got your SKS or money anytime you want to meet.

Techbrute (Tim)......Love ya man. I'll meet you at the range anytime one on one.

RRTX (Justin).......I think I've seen more of your bare ass than your last girlfriend due to you not having a belt. Not that this was a bonding experience, but I think it changed my opinion of belts.

Geegee......super guy. I thank you for all the coordination you put in putting things together at Tiger Valley. Made me want more.

Patentnonsense........I never met anyone with a nicer pistol collection than yours......or that wore hardhats to the range.:D

CZSteve.......Take care of the 40B.....it was really great to know you.

aguyindallas.........Hang on to that SigPro. Good luck with the newborn.

If any of you guys want to go shoot one on one or somthing, send me an email, but I don't think I'll be doing the group thing anymore. I have recieved some less than flattering emails here and some down right alarming comments. Given that everyone who has payed attention knows what I do for a living, I don't want to be some right wing nut jobs idea of letting off steam anymore.

Oh...I forgot Bill....the 9mm man. Good luck with your girlfriend....still think you should have sold me the Sig.

Take care.

I have recieved some less than flattering emails here and some down right alarming comments. Dude. That's just not kosher. It's one thing to complain about a particular experience with a cop, or to complain about a particular department/agency, or to complain about a "state of the state", but direct emails to someone is just crossing the line. I hope that you let the mods know.

Although I can't say it makes me happy, I understand about the wife. Wives worry about their husbands, and I can't imagine what a cop's wife feels.

orangeninja
August 9, 2004, 05:56 PM
No problem. Actually I don't feel like getting everyone involved since I have really only ever recieved one half A$$ed threat to whup me on sight or somthing. If they were death threats...well, that would be a different ball game wouldn't it.

Letting mods know would be fine, except they can change handles or lurk....either way it has been less than proffitable and not worth the time. I have recieved some good PM's from people and some possitive emails. I just think that there is too much venom concerning "whiny cops". So I'm opting out. I still love to shoot, I still would like to hook up at the range once in a while. But I'm out for meeting at unkown places with multiple people.....and yeah....wives get paranoid.;)

I wear a belt all the time now :o Sorry to see you go man, hope we can still get together and shoot sometime

August 9, 2004, 10:26 PM
Well, I was cussin' you pretty good for giving me the "shotgun bug" by letting me try out your 870, but I'm pretty sure nobody overheard, 'cept maybe Techbrute ;) Besides, I'll probably wind up thanking you for it.

The internet is the great anonymizer - amazing how people say things from behind the veil of a keyboard that they would never say out load. Still disturbing, though.

Don't stress about the SKS - so long as she's in a good home. Pick a convenient time and email me. Who knows? Maybe I'll take you to Elm Fork to try out my new shotgun - dang ya anyway :D

Is just anyone invited to this shoot, or is there some sort of secret handshake and you have to kiss a pig (no, I'm not making a cop reference, I promise) to get into it? I'm new to this board and I'm just about to pick up my newest addition to my puny collection (CZ 75B .40) and will be needing some range time in the not too distant future.

I hope that you let the mods know.
Agreed. I don't like the sound of that at all. I can appreciate your wife's concern, though ( although that doesn't mean I'm going to suggest we all bring our wives to the next THR DFW shoot :what: ).

Hey, I'll bet your ears must have been burning on Saturday, as your name came up at a "post NRA political workshop at Wendy's THR meeting." Oh, yeah!! ;)

We will shoot again, Alduro. More TIGER Valley is in the tea leaves, believe me.

is there some sort of secret handshake and you have to kiss a pig
Relax, beardking. We're an easygoing group. All we ask is that the newest guy to join us cleans all the guns after the shoot. :neener:

Could someone clue me in on where the shoot is? I've seen the poll on the Yahoo group, but I have not been able to figure out where it was decided to go. Thanks in advance.

TXBera

It may not happen for me though, they just announced at work that there will be no more approvals for time off in August. Unless your wife goes into labor or other "qualifying life event." Just when I get some new hardware and a chance they drop this bomb on us at work.

Oh well, time to put in the paperwork for the time off in September, last Sunday of the Month, correct?

TechBrute
August 10, 2004, 10:15 AM
For all the noobs, we'll teach you the secret handshake at the range. :neener:

Anyone is welcome to shoot with us. We use our Yahoo group to establish the venue. If you are interested, please take a moment, join, and vote on where we're going to have it. The poll is open until 8/20. That's when it will be decided.

Alduro, I'm sorry you'll be departing the DFW group but I think you are making a wise choice to err on the side of caution and ease your wife's mind. Hopefully in the future things will change you'll be able to be involved again. I wish I'd been able to make it to a shoot to meet you.

Hey guys thanks for the support. I will be shooting at the Winchester Gallery as often as normal and would gladly meet you guys there since I am well known by just about everyone who works there. I feel it's a pretty safe enviroment. I will just not be going to a range I've never been to, to meet people anymore. If I do plan to go to a shoot, I will definantly not make my intention to do so known.

This is the price you pay for getting on peoples nerves sometimes.

Hawk.........Shotties rock. I have decided that I would rather have a shotgun for most things except shooting beyond 50 yards. I shot about 25 rounds of #4 Buck into a silouette the other day....whooeee. What that target looked like afterward. Heck the first 3 rounds ripped it apart.

Geegee....what did you guys talk about?

Ok, for the August 29 Sunday Group Shoot:

The Shooting Gallery
6054 E Lancaster Ave
Fort Worth
817-496-9900

Starting at 10:00am.

I will contact them to attempt to reserve the secondary range as we usually do.

Remember, this is open to anyone, so if you are new to the group, come on out. Bring your friends and family. All we ask is to be safe. They have 2 rifle lanes, but are somewhat tight. The main focus will be pistol.

See ya there.....chime in for a head count!

Would love to meet you guys sometime; but can't make it to Ft. Worth to shoot on an indoor range.

Anybody interested in heading out to Tac-Pro Shooting Center in Stephenville some time? It is a long drive; but a great facility.

TechBrute
August 25, 2004, 05:50 PM
Hey Bart,

Long time no talk. There's been some interest expressed about Tac-Pro. I don't know if I'd be able to make it due to the current family state, but I'd try, and I'm sure there are others, too.
