We all know about airplanes and the carry on of weapons and guns. How about trains? Do you go through an extensive search before boarding a train? Could I CCW abard a train?

Amtrak has an official policy barring CCW and any guns not in locked cases, checked as baggage.

That said, I've never seen a security check when boarding Amtrak here on the west coast. It's rather hard to hijack a train and take it someplace off the rails. :D

If your local city station screens passengers, just find a small, unmanned station to board from. 'Course, I've never been screened by AmTrak either, even at big cities like Denver.

The same laws concerning firearms on commercial aircraft apply to all modes of commercial transportation, including rail and bus. They just don't have the same security procedures.

I rode armed half way across the country on Amtrak. There was a notice in small print on the back of the ticket that said not firearms, not even in checked baggage.

By golly, it gets hard to read all that fine print as you get older - don't it?
