Indefinitely.

From a metallurgical standpoint, a spring gets weakened by repeated compression and decompression, not by being compressed. Once a spring is compressed for a second, it may as well be compressed for a decade. You hurt the springs more by loading and unloading them every week or month to "give the springs a rest".

Load `em up and leave `em! It wont hurt them at all.

I leave mine full, I will replace the spring at the first sign of weakness, I haven't replaced any yet:cool:

I know of several instances where M16 mags have been loaded for better then 20 years and functioned fine when fired. Leave em loaded.

I voted 0-24 hours. Loaded mags??? What are those? I think you will shoot all of that ammo in less than 24 hours! :D

Now you know why I put that 0-24 hrs up... bait - and I caught you. That's a real DUH!!!, huh?

To the others... I'd suspected that from my other mags, but wasn't sure. They are - full up. Kind of like the ready aircraft on a carrier deck... mine are "ready rifle" ready - on deck.

Now, does the same philosophy prevail for tubular magazine springs - as in Browning auto 12g????

Give civilization some credit, we have mastered the perfect spring.
