Has anyone else had this experience?
Yesterday I had my first FTF's with my 625. After running several hundred rds. of American Eagle and Federal Gold Match through my 625, I tried 3 clips of Winchester 185 gr. FMJ (white box). The result was 5 FTF's even though the primers were struck. I checked the strain screw, thinking it must have backed off. It was still fully seated, so I continued with the Gold Match and Amer. Eagle and ran another hundred or so rounds with no problems.
This is the first time I have ever had any FTF's with any ammo in either of my Smith's and was wondering if anyone else has had this experience. BTW, I kept pulling the trigger and the second strikes didn't help.

Sounds like a bad batch of primers. I haven't shot a lot of whitebox stuff, but I've never had any problems with it going "bang".

"Sounds like a bad batch of primers."

Mike, you're right. I just looked at the remaining ammo and many of the primers are discolored.
While I was demooning and reloading this morning, I looked at the spent casings: 100% solid strikes and the color of the primers was uniform, except for the Winchesters. Over the years, I have stayed away from Win. white box and will continue to do so.
Thanks, Steve

I hear a train a comin

Is that train to congratulate him on owning such a fine 45 ACP revolver that is fed via moon clips?

:p

Ric,

Not meaning to pile on you here, but the term "clip" is entirely appropriate for the 625. It is a revolver that fires 45 ACP. Since 45 ACP is not rimmed, the cartridges are clipped together in either "half moon" clips of three, or "full moon" clips of 6.

I have problems with my S&W 625 when I use Winchester primers in my handloads. But I haven't shot much WWB in it, so I can't help you there. Will the "Bad rounds" shoot in any thing else?

And there are also two round clips that can be use for the 625.

Respectfully,

jdkelly

"Will the "Bad rounds" shoot in any thing else?"

I don't know. Right now the rest of the box is keeping company with other "orphan" rounds.

I'd pull'em and start over, if you reload. If not, give 'em to someone who does, and tell them what you think. I have a bunch of cheap stuff thats waiting for the right method of 'disposal'.;)
