It's silly for me to even be posting this. While I'm looking for a better paying job, I'll be out of the United States for at least 10 more months, and in the interim can't really buy any guns.
Nonetheless, I need more revolvers. My 6" S&W 25-5 in .45 Colt is great, but I need a better packin' gun for those road trips.
S&W is currently doing a limited run of 4" M25s in .45 Colt, that have the current strength enhancement package. While not as strong as a Ruger, it would allow me to worry less about beating a great old revolver to death.
Then you've got the 625 in .45ACP. This would be a great choice for me, as I already have two .45 Automatics and it would allow me to practice revolver shooting on the cheap (compared to .45 Colt).
But...there's this little voice inside me that keeps telling me to just get a .357 Ruger GP100 and be happy with it. It'd be about $300 cheaper than any new S&W, and Ruger revolvers have a rugged, elegant simplicity to them that I just like. (Sort of like AKs and FALs, really.)
It'd certainly be a sensible choice, and .357 offers a wide range of power from anemic .38s to Buffalo Bore stompers that spank .45ACP handily.
But...it's not big bore.
I"ve got this thing where I like big bore handguns. I like .45 Automatics and .45 Revolvers. A .44 would be good, too, but since I already have guns in .45 Colt and .45ACP that'd make more sense.
So yeah, I can't decide. I can't just get both, becuase I have to be careful wtih my hard-earned money when I get home. Right now, a lot of what I earn goes into paying bills, but after those are done it's college fund time.
So, we'll see, I guess. A lot of other contractors are hiring. If I'm lucky, I'll be picked up by someone up in Iraq and will make double what I do in Qatar (Qatar being the "rear" over here). Then it won't be such an issue anway. :D
