Recently I bought and fired a box of winclean and fired it from my P99. I noticed it produced more muzzle blast and recoil although it didn't say +p on the box. Does this have something to do with its "cleanness"?

I don't know whether it has to do with 'cleanness' or what- my wife likes to use the .380 WinClean load in her KelTec P3AT. The muzzle flash at dusk/dark from that stuff is bright yellow, the size of a soccer ball- amazing! She thinks it recoils less than any of the other loads she's tried, and since it's a reasonably heavy (95 gr.) flat nose bullet I think it's OK for her to carry. Can't get over that muzzle flash tho... .

I had that same thing happen with PMP ammo. Sparks came out of the muzzle with a huge muzzle blast. It was somewhat spectacular. I would just run another box through and if it does the same thing and your not comfy with a big muzzle flash just change up your ammo.

i have a p220st and whenever i fired winclean ammo it would leave tiny little yellow/gold bits w/the consistency of fine sand in the action, and my p220 choked a couple of times on it. failure to go into battery.

It's not +P, but it feels like it.
If you like fireballs, give .357Magnum Winclean a try!
A 16" fireball is quite obvious even under a bright sun. Yup, leaves crap in the action that seems very abrasive. I think they could have gone with a little faster burning powder.
Very accurate though.
I've noticed in Glocks and HK's in both 9mm and .45acp, Winclean has always been consistantly accurate.
Mabey that bullet shape (BEB) goes well with polygonal rifling.
It's my 'poor mans match ammo'.

We use Winclean in our IDPA leauge...here's my review:
9mm.....feeds good in most guns(Glocks,Sigs,Barettas,Tauruses),not too hot
(I had one FTE w/ Winclean in my Taurus PT99-it's only failure ever)
45....feeds ok in Glocks, but feeds like crap in 1911's(some guys have actually had to re-crimp them before they'll feed.)not all that hot
38....a little hot...always goes bang...real easy to clean those cylinders
357.....holy crap.....wicked hot...I think it's the fast burning powder(?)these things are like cannons.....
one interesting thing...I shot some 38 winclean in my yard a few years ago...I found some of the bullets and they were completely intact..no deformation at all, even with the lead in the front.I guess it acts like FMJ or ball ammo.
Also we've had some failure to fire's with the 9mm and the Glocks with the 3.5lb. trigger thing.....
I've never had any problems with the 9's in my Glock 17....

I never really "took" to winclean myself.
