On the front page of today's South Florida Sun-Sentinel (http://www.sunsentinel.com) , there is a poll regarding the AWB. I'm happy to say that it's 89.3% in favor of letting it expire...

We're at 84.6% now.
How about the wording of the responses?

On Monday, the 10-year ban on selling military-style semiautomatic assault weapons in the U.S. will end because Congress would not vote to extend the law. What do you think?

The ban should be re-enacted. There is no legitimate reason for people to own these guns.
I agree with the NRA. The ban was ineffective, in part because these weapons are rarely used in crimes.

My union rep tried to tell me last night about how grenade launchers and RPG's are going to be easy to get for a terrorist attack on a train with Haz-Mat cars (I'm the rail security liason for the union)

I calmly tried to explain to him that when the AWB expires you still cannot buy grenade launchers or RPG's or automatic weapons, He hung his head in his hands when he realized that I'm not going to vote the "union line"

I think that after the ban ends it will take a few months for many people to realize that we haven't turned into Afganistan and it will quietly drop off the "radar"

At least I hope so

Why are the numbers jumping???
Aren't polls conducted at an accumulative scale???
I didn't think it could go 80-20, 50-50, then 60-40 when there's way more voters for one side than there are for the other...

Why not just say:
"In a poll we skewed to our favor, we found that the majority of our ignorant and uninformed readers decided that as nobody supports allowing you to own an assault weapon, you don't need one."

The 2a clearly states:
"... the right of the people to keep and bear ARMS shall not be infringed."

If they didn't want it to be read liberally it would have stated:

"Because standing armies are dangerous to liberty in times of peace, and due to the fact that the regular army is answerable to and takes it's commands from, the Federal government, each person, of able body and proper age for the requirements of militia service, has the right to keep and bear upon their person, concealed or otherwise, a weapon suitable to their own personal defense, and, should the need arise, to defend the land from usurpation and tyranny, both foreign, and domestic.

If only the sheeple would read the second as liberally as they do the first.

Would they allow a ban on any writing instrument but those that were available in 1776?

How about the fact that you are not allowed to worship any "religion" you choose, but that the 1a only refers to freedom from religious persecution?

Read it and weep, for those that wrote it surely are...

I just checked the Sun-Sentinel's poll archives to see if I could get the correct closing numbers.

They have the past polls listed going back to late April, but somehow, this poll has mysteriously disappeared...

I guess you just can't believe it, even if you do see it...
