How do you remove the bolt from a Remington 788. Evidently it is different from most bolt actions. Most either have a button to push or you can pull the trigger while removing the bolt. No button and trigger pull doesn't seem to work.

Remove the magazine, make sure the rifle is not loaded, pull the bolt to the rear, and push the safety forward, towards the muzzle. That will depress the bolt stop, and allow removal of the bolt.

Hold the safety forward as you pull back on the bolt.
