Browning scopes

A friend of mine recently fell into a good deal on a used rifle. He may re-sell the rifle, but is likely to keep the Browning scope that was on it. He's looking for info about Browning scopes. This one is a 3-9X40. It doesn't seem to have a model name or number on it.
What can you tell me about these scopes? Quality? Who made them for Browning? Approximate value?
