shot my 1st hi power service rifle match today at ft knox. what a great bunch of guys out there. went way out of their way to help me achieve a decent score [ can you beleive i didn't tote up the 4 individual score cards] but i shot somewhere around 500 w/ my danish var garand and korean ball. everybody assured me i did well for my 1st time. but man those guys can shoot their ar's. several 200's. i was the only guy w/ a garand everybody else had ar's. it's a relief to have this one under my belt as now i know the basics of the system. i'm hooked, gonna shoot a garand match on 10/11. life is good! rick

Awesome! Glad to hear you had fun. Keep at it and beware, it becomes addictive. Once you become addicted, you'll be reasoning how you need an AR. And maybe another one. Plus reloading gear. And maybe that Kowa scope... ;)

Garand matches are awesome. Fired one today, had a blast with an 03A3, although I did save 3 rounds rapid fire. Warning: Once you get accustomed to shooting rapid-fire with an AR, you never seem to have enough time with a bolt-gun.

Awesome to see that I'm not only newbie. :)

And you beat the pants off my first times score too. Next match here is full course and a 3x600 on 18-19 Sept, then there's a 100 yard reduced intro match on the 25th, I believe, then another 300 yard reduced match on 2 October.

Yeah, I'm hooked too. :D
