Do they exist yet?

SF told me within a month or two.

That was during the month of August.

It appears the X200D is getting closer to release.
A photo of the X200D appeared on the www.surefire.jp site a couple days ago.

I believe the design has not changed since I photographed one at the SHOT Show 2004:

I suggest you make friends with your SureFire Dealer to ensure he gets his order and you're at the top of his list!

It would be great if the "D" Switch plates were available by themselves. I guess this may happen in time.

what does the pressure switch do?

Skunkabilly
September 14, 2004, 03:11 AM
It activates the light, as opposed to having to switch it on by reaching out and hitting the rotating paddle switch thingy.

You see the "bump" towards the "end" of the band coming out the back of the X200?

Well that band is pretty stiff, and the idea is that when the X200D is installed on a handgun, the band is under the trigger guard so that your support hand can push up against the bump which is a momentary pressure switch and activate the light. It's more of a universal inline switch for a wider variety of handguns rather than a "Slimline" switch that wraps around the grip or an "InLine" "DG" switch that locates against the front of the grip - these two options are pretty much dedicated models to each handgun.

I will see if I can find a photo of the X200D attached to a handgun.

is there going to be much difference in price than the regular x200?

Al, is there anything that you don't know about SureFires?!?!

:p

One question: What SF head would you say is the closest size-wise to the head of the X200?

The KL1? KL4? Or the E2 series?

M-T minds are curious.. :o

There are a few things I don't know... Learning all the time.

The X200 has a very compact bezel
The KL4 (L4 flashlight) bezel is longer:
http://www.pk-engineering.com/Size15/images1/x200-04.jpg
but the same diameter.

Of all the SureFires the L1's bezels is about the most equal in terms of size... This photo shows the L1 compared to the L2 and the L4 (KL4):
http://www.pk-engineering.com/Size15/images1/al-Eclasscollection.jpg

Shelby Chan who photographs for SureFire (and Strider and others) has been given a one-off proto-type of the X200 bezel on an E2e. It combines the base part of the KL4 bezel and the front part of the X200 bezel:

So you see that the electronics required to drive the X200 bezel are located in the neck of the X200 body. It is pretty much impossible to remove the X200 bezel.

Why do you ask?

Thanks for the photos, Al.

Why do you ask?

Oh.. I was just bored and curious all at the same time.. That, and I didn't realize that you couldn't remove the X200 bezel. :o

Edit: Second photo from the bottom. What do you have in that McGizmo PR-T head? The 917 DB? Or a Bad Boy, perhaps?

2nd Edit: Uhmm.. I have a question about the quote,"proto-type of the X200 bezel on an E2e", does SF have any plans to produce something like that?

They have no plans to let anyone else have that light that Shelby has :(
I shared a hotelroom with him at the SHOT Show 2004 and I could have stolen it from him while he slept... I should have as well.

Yes, it's an L1-PR-T with 917. It's a sweet light to be sure. :D

Al, you may have another chance to steal it in Jan.

Hey Al, I show several Diff. models of the X200 in my dealer price book (TG, DG and SL). Is the X200D the same as the X200-TG (trigger guard switch).

I have only ever seen the X200D shown in the photo I took above.

TG for Tigger Guard would appear to be the one in my photo. It is the most universal of these three switch options. It would make sense to release it next.

DG for DEV Group would likely be the inline switch that locates against the front of the grip to be activated by the 2nd finger just like DG switches SureFire already offer for certain handgun models.

SL for SlimLine - I thought since these are rather model specific to each handgun that SureFire were going to offer these "later on" based on demand.

I will try to find out some more details.

Oh, welcome, Shelby!!!

So the TG switch would still require two hands on the gun to activate? If I had two hands on the gun I'd use my thumb to activate and have the option of constant-on. :(

I guess I want the DG switch then. :)

On 9/9 I was told the TG switch was 30 days out. Which is what I was told when I asked in March IIRC.

I have a D model and it has the tape switch as well as toggle. Admittingly, I am starting to get confused if they are A, B, C, TG, models.
