How about a drive to enact a NATIONAL right-to-carry law ?? I'm feeling a little heady today.

I want to see the firearms manufacturer protection act get passed.

After that, I would like to see the 2nd Amendment applied to the states equally across the country by means of the 14th Amendment equal protection clause.

In other words, do away with the state bans for going too far beyond the scope of Federal law.

I like your suggestion, 22luvr: National Right to Carry - Police departments throughout would have to reduced their force to equal the reduction in crime.

I also agree with uglygun. We, in the occupied lands, outnumbered by sheeple, need help.

How about repealing laws forbidding imports as a free trade issue?
How about repealing the suppressor ban as a health and welfare issue?
How about repealing the Brady waiting period as a security issue?

It's an ongoing war: If you're not on the offensive, you're losing.

I think we should focus our efforts not only in the political arena but also with educating John Q. Public (from which our politicians derive their power). It is clear that the anti-gun foes are continuing to try to capitalize on the general public's gun-ignorance. Largely reinforced by images they see on TV, movies, video games, and other entertainment media outlets, the general public has been led to believe that any pistol/rifle with a pistol grip and large magazine hanging out of the bottom = machine gun. Combine the general public's ignorance with the negative stereotypes of non-sporting-gun-owners as being either right-wing-militia-nutcase or rednecks-named-bubba and its not surprising that it feels like we are fighting a losing battle most of the time and even when we score a win we have to continue looking over our shoulders for the next attack.

Anti’s won’t argue facts with us because they know they’d lose. But we’re losing the PR battle for public opinion. Gun-owners and their organizations need to embark on a POSITIVE public relations campaign that shows "normal" people enjoying the shooting sports and responsible ownership of firearms. I think we’re making some headway with the number of hunting and shooting shows on OLN, Outdoor Channel and I’ve even seen some on ESPN2. We need to aggressively market the shooting sports and responsible gun ownership to the younger generation... they are the future of American Politics and public opinion... they are the ones that will suffer the most as more gun control laws are passed in the future. As individuals we should be inviting everybody we know to the range whenever possible. Even if we don't convert them all to "gun-people", if we can make a positive impression with most of them and put a personal face on the issue, it might make them think twice about supporting gun control.

just my thoughts

The next step guys, is in November. Vote in a few more pro-gun votes in the Senate, and we've got the antis right where we want them. Then we can shove S 990 down their throats and then start working on removing the import ban.

I wouldn't mind a good fight to repeal the 1986 machine gun ban.

I think we should remain on the offensive. The ideas mentioned so far are wonderful. I think that we should all give Sarah Brady a great big "raspberry"! Maybe a "Simpsons" ah-haa will suffice!:D First we celebrate then we go back into the trenches!

I want to see Arnold voted out of office.
