Which of your guns gets the most attention...

September 14, 2004, 07:31 AM
..at the range. Which one garners the most ooohs and aaahs. Is there one that just leave people drooling like a 3 month old and begging to shoot?

Don't know about the drooling part but oddly my Yugo sks always gets a few lookers. At one of the ranges that I go to the um clients are mostly hunters that have dragged out that deer rifle that has sat unused in the closet since last November.

Guns that turn me into a pile of mush when I encounter them at the range are most anything class 3. Love shooting them. No matter how many times I shoot a sub gun always get the full auto grin. I just can't justify the cost of owning one.

While I prefer to shoot smaller calibers (9mm, .45acp, 7.63x39), the large bore hand cannons and rifles always facinate me.

M1A with camouflaged stock/handguard. Only thing more evil than an EBR is an ETSR (evil Tiger Striped Rifle).

September 14, 2004, 08:27 AM
My 20" AR15 with detachable carry handle and fixed stock. Its just the one I shoot the best with.

September 14, 2004, 08:59 AM
My January 1944 M-1 Garand. People love to hear that "ping!" of the empty en-bloc clip ejecting:D

September 14, 2004, 09:02 AM
Prob my Mossberg 590. Where i shoot at not many people have seen a combat shotgun.

September 14, 2004, 09:16 AM
I was experementing with my M1A one time trying to figure out if i could make it Automatic. I eventually figured it out and wowed allot of people. i replaced it with a new trigger group and destroyed the other but it is still nice to know i could do it if i needed to

September 14, 2004, 09:19 AM
Dont have any cool rifles yet but my stainless SA gi usually gets a bit of attemtion!

September 14, 2004, 09:20 AM
M1 Garand by far.

You might want to keep the highly illegal activities on the down low so to speak. I hear the BATF kinda frowns on illegal full auto conversions. Just a thought. I mean with the broad definition of "constructive intent" I don't even want to think about making a full auto.

Oddly enough, the Mosin M38. When I touch off a round, the thunderboom grabs EVERYONE'S attention. Though, on the other hand, everyone who sees my Witness with Hakan grips oohs and ahhs over the grips...

Without a doubt, the AK.

September 14, 2004, 09:33 AM
i would have to say that would be my 50AE desert eagles, 50AE AR from Tromix, or my FAL.

One day I shall have my BMG

September 14, 2004, 09:34 AM
Hay WEPS, now that i would pay to see in action. :what:

September 14, 2004, 09:39 AM
cslinger, you are absolutely right! that is why i destroyed it. still, my curiosity got the best of me and i had to try. on another note i found that you can do the same thing to an M1 Garand:evil:

So far, I guess it's been my HK USC. It does look kinda funky, so I suppose it's interesting to people who haven't seen one before. And even moreso if they don't know a whole lot about firearms.

September 14, 2004, 10:23 AM
It's my krylon'd Remington PSS in .308. "Hey look- it's a sniper rifle!"

September 14, 2004, 10:46 AM
It used to be my 1858 Remington New Model Army cap n' ball revolver. That was twenty years ago when they were not so common. People asked a lot of questions and got big grins when I offered them a chance to shoot it. Now lots of people have them and I aint so special any more even though I still have a lot of fun with it.:D

The SPAS shotguns. Definitely the SPAS.

Edited for incredibly stupid spelling error that I simply could not stand to look at any longer.

I'm gonna second the Yugo SKS. I like the attention I get when the rifle with a bayonet and grenade launcher comes out!

September 14, 2004, 12:20 PM
Another vote for the M1 Garand. Nothing grabs your attention like eight rounds of .30-06 going downrange in four seconds.

Probably the Remington 12 gague 870 Marine Magnum, cuz in
these parts a lot of persons have never seen one.

Best Wishes,

My CETME. I don't have a brake on it, so it isn't quite as loud an M38/44. But it gets a fair amount of attention.

September 14, 2004, 12:51 PM
People at the range ask why does that Colt 45 make a cracking noise when you fire it, its not a 45acp but a Series 70 GM 38 super. Also the they like my Remington 1903A3 for some reason.

September 14, 2004, 12:56 PM
Seems like my SAA 45 replica always draws people to look at it. I'll hear others say, "Oh look, an old cowboy gun."

September 14, 2004, 01:00 PM
My pistol-gripped tanker M1. Though the comments aren't so much "ooh and ahh" and "*** is that?" :)

September 14, 2004, 01:06 PM
The Camel Cannon of course!

Anyone within 20ft of the Hakim pays attention pronto! Then they want to try it too! :D

September 14, 2004, 01:36 PM
14" Desert Eagle....has the same effect as when Wyatt Earp pulled out his Buntline Special. Oooooh's & aaaaaah's....followed by "wish mine was that long"....guess size matters.

September 14, 2004, 02:36 PM
Another vote for the Yugo SKS...

Although my Krag and Grandad's old 1911 get a lot of looks as well.

September 14, 2004, 03:00 PM
Either the M1A (because it's got pretty wood, or the SVT-40, because it's unusual and loud.

September 14, 2004, 03:04 PM
So it's got a bayonet and a grenade sight... that's cool and all...
But I got a Romanian sar1 "Kalashniclone" with pistol grips front and rear, a Chinese 75 round drum magazine and an aimpoint sight on top...
My Russian "tommy" girl...

However, nothing get's more Ooh's and Aah's than the .444 Marlin that belongs to my brother-in-law...
It looks like any normal lever gun but everybody stops and stares when that dragon roars and that gigantic spent brass flips through the air...
His .500 S&W Magnum comes in a close third...

September 14, 2004, 03:44 PM
definitely the Blaser LRS. Damn thing looks like a ray gun.

September 14, 2004, 05:52 PM
50 AE Desert Eagle.

And since I'm such a nice guy I always let anyone who asks shoot it. I've also noticed that most of the people who try it always ask if they can keep one of the casings.

who me
September 14, 2004, 06:04 PM
My 3" Ruger SP101.......when I shoot full house .357 mag out of it.

September 14, 2004, 06:06 PM
My Saiga 12ga. in rapid fire (8 rounds downrange in about 1½ to 2 seconds). Eyebrows rise, mouths fall open, ears contract visibly... :D

Declaration Day
September 14, 2004, 06:12 PM
Here's another vote for the M1 Garand. I have two of them, one new and the other made in February 1944. If the sight of these rifles doesn't get everyone's attention, the trademark "ping" brings them over for a look. People really seem to get a kick out of seeing both of them side by side.

September 14, 2004, 07:46 PM
LOL the PING allways gets me.:p

September 14, 2004, 07:50 PM

September 14, 2004, 08:03 PM
Browning BBR in .300 Win Mag and my MAK-90.

Foreign Devil
September 14, 2004, 08:14 PM
The Uzi 9mm...

September 14, 2004, 08:16 PM
I only own one gun, but I did get an offer to buy it off me less than 10 seconds after it had been in my posession. Oh, wait, there are a couple that belong to a friend that have drawn some looks. First is a Smith and Wesson 329PC- at least, it got looks when it exploded. :D Second is his SxS .470NE (Not sure of the manufacturer) You think you know recoil...

September 14, 2004, 08:33 PM
Without one particle of doubt:

Ruger #1 Tropical in .416 Rigby - at least that's the case at the 25 yd indoor range.

September 14, 2004, 09:07 PM
I think its odd, but the one of mine that gets the most attention is an old 1939 mauser that I've sporterized to a scout rifle configuration. Once I let someone shoots it - others ljust seem to ine up for their turn. Got to admit that its the quickest rifle for target acquisition I've got. And really easy to hit with! With 8x57 milsup ammo still cheap, I let em shoot it alot. Have to clean it good that same day when corosive ammo is used, but I don't mind as I take the opportunity to work on the trigger pull each time its apart.

September 15, 2004, 02:24 AM
The one everyone wants to shoot is my Rossi Puma Lever Action in .357 Magnum. Once they work the action THEY ARE HOOKED!!
