So, we're terrorists now? (Kerry and AWB)

Here's an article about John Kerry harping on the AWB expiration, laying into Bush for it and saying, "Let me be very clear. I support the Second Amendment. I've been a hunter all my life. But I don't think we need to make the job of terrorists any easier." Kind of implies that anyone who buys a so-called "assault weapon" is a terrorist. At the very least, it's cheap fear-mongering.

Apologies if this is old news.

With Bush Choosing to Let Assault Weapons Ban Expire, Kerry Says We Need a New Direction on Crime Prevention (http://www.johnkerry.com/pressroom/releases/pr_2004_0913.html)Keep Guns Out of the Hands of Criminals and Terrorists. As an avid hunter, Kerry supports the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, but he also understands that hunters don’t need and don’t use AK-47s, but criminals and terrorists do. Kerry will reauthorize the assault weapons ban as well as support John McCain’s legislation to close the gun show loophole. Kerry will also enforce the gun laws on the books, as George Bush promised and failed to do, and also create new regional task forces of U.S. Attorneys to battle the interstate trafficking of guns.

Well, that's brilliant of Kerry; I as so disgusted with Bush over his embrace of campaign censorship that I'd given up on him, but if Kerry keeps this up, I may have to drag a barf bag into the voting booth, and give Bush my vote anyway. :barf:

MP5, I'm going to guess you are in your 20s, or that you might be someone older who didn't actually become politically aware until later in life.

I say this because if you recall the 1990s and the Clinton Administration at all, you would already know this.

In the 1990s during the Clinton Administration the word "terrorist" explicitly included any and all silly peasants foolish enough to believe that they had the right to own any sort of gun at all.........

Of course Kerry thinks the same way too.

This is a pure Clintonian Democrat talking point here.

What do you mean keeps its up? The man is a hypocrite gun grabbing POS, that spews very false information on firearms.

Even if he stops with the AWB talk by next week, doesn't change what Kerry stands for and what he will do if he gets into office.

One of my biggest problems with the WOT is that the words "Terror" and "Terrorist" have not been legally defined. Most folks assume that it refers to Islamofacists, and for now, it does.

What happens when Kerry, or Hillary, or whoever gets into office and decides that you guys who are hung up on the crazy 17th century ideal of "liberty" are a bunch of "terrorists" because you own EBRs and are full of political dissent? It may sound far fetched, but it may not be so far off.

I do recall the tragicomedy of the Clinton administration :) Anyway, the point of the thread was just to point this RKBA news item out to those who might have missed it.

The AWB has NOTHING to do with terrorism, just like the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting! Terrorism has become the scapegoat for infinging on Americans rights.
