I'm from and frequently visit my family in Missouri

Its very frustrating and worrisome when
I'm forced to lock up my CCW once I hit Kansas and Missouri.

The law and case law says I can put a loaded handgun on my dashboard so it will not be concealed in any way but I was warned by several folks not to try it.

I looked at a demographic voters map by county and it showed
the CCW law was defeated by St Louis and Kansas City residents
exclusively.

I have a strong feeling that the ban on concealed handguns is
racially motivated on both sides.

After living in San Antonio for 20 years, going back to Kansas City is like going back 50 years in race relations and civil rights.

My opinion is neither one of the major ethnic group trusts the other with concealed weapons.

I guess the scholars were right when they said the roots of gun control were founded in racism.

Oh well off my soap box.

If you look at the statistics from the last time that the CCW went to the POPULAR vote, I believe that, without exception, the rural counties were FOR concealed carry and the urban counties, specifically KC and St. Louis (where more than half of the MO population resides) were against it. It was extremely close in the last vote. I wonder what would happen if it were put to a popular vote right now? Maybe stir up some alarmist stuff about terrorism and being prepared for anything and see if the vote would swing...

I'm from Missouri and grew up there but live in northern Arkansas right now after several years of living in and around Indianapolis. I fervently hope that Missouri gets concealed carry passed "just because".

The poll has mysteriously disappeared. I guess it didn't produce the desired leftist results.

It's in the 'View past polls' section. The anti's lost. 76% FOR CCW, 23% against. But Standing Wolf is right. Didn't get the results they wanted, so they shut it down. Hacks me off, I never got to vote! I was busy cranking out .45ACP test rounds on the loading bench.:banghead:

of course the truly funny part is that all the antis will be sitting around telling each other this was all the fault of 'freepers'. I'm not certain why, but that seems to be the refrain in some leftist circles of late. Not that I have anything against Free Republic, I just like the atmosphere here at THR better.

Oh well, at least if the reports from the dem nat. committee are right, Pres. Bush doesn't need to worry too much about the competition in 04.
