So after 100 plus posts we finally have confirmed a date for SLO. :D
This is going to be a meet to chill with the guys so guns will be optional but please bring plenty of film :)
At this time ,the location will be in or near the National Forest surrounding SLO. I believe Combat-Wombat has the exact location.
Theme if we shoot, will be three gun competition(pistol, shotgun and rifle): man on man, with possible night ops (shooting in the dark). So please bring your Surefires and a couple of spare batteries. LED lights are nice also. Since this is going to be winter weather please dress accordingly. Skunk and I have power inverters in our cars so if you want to bring anything that plugs in you'll be taken cared of. (My inverted is 250 Watts max.)
Oh and if you dont like the camera wear lots of camo :D  Be ready to eat lots of red meat!!!!
Also edit to add: If you are a minor please do not ask if we are comfortable with you carrying a firearm without parental supervision. Common sense and the LAW mandates parental supervision. End of story.

Gotta order that Surefire forend now, and maybe scrounge up a battle-type rifle...maybe.

Note to all, we're thinkin' about rallying in town where there's cell coverage then caravanning to the campsite. If we go back to Santa Margarita lake, most of us have been there and should be able to find it in the dark.

Im heading up that way in two weeks (Oceano), are there any good ranges up that way?

checkout the Hogue Action Range in SLO. Its a good range. Rifle range has targets up to 300 yards...

Hey- albeit less tactical than roughing it in the woods, A repeat of last shoot is A-Ok, and actually much easier for me.

Hey, thanks for the Hogue Action Range tip, me and some buddys are gonna have some time to kill up there, what better way to do it?

Just me this time. Wendy will be staying at the Apple Farm Inn in San Luis Obispo so she can stay warm and shop at stupid Pier 1 Imports during the day.

Is the night-shoot still a go, or are we going to be bursting from input and output valves with meat, meat, peppers, meat, mushrooms, more meat, and if applicable, potatoes, and more meat?

Just a thought but what do you guys think about splitting a hotel room(S) in SLO?

September 22, 2004, 04:27 PM
In that case I'm pitching my tent on the balcony!
I rather camp at Santa Margarita then drive to town.
Unless it means we'll have more people joining the party if we do the ho-tell thing.

I wish Lightfighter would come correct with my 1300 tac sling. Is 3 months and counting unreasonable?
I think I'll work on some taglines for them:
"Lightfighter: When it absolutely, positively has to be backordered and placed in limbo forever."
"Lightfigher: Fast e-mail response. Limitless excuses."
"Lightfighter: 'It's the manufacturer's fault!'"
"Lightfighter: Great Prices. No Inventory."

What sort of sling did you order? I have a dismantled CQB solutions 3point that I've been unable/too lazy (mostly inept) to reassemble. If you can piece it together, you can have it.

A CQB Solutions 3-point. :D
Yes, they're now Specter Gear. Which may be why there's the big holdup with LF. I'll go right to the source this time. It'll only cost me a couple of extra bucks.

I ordered my Single point directly from Specter Gear nearly two weeks ago.

LOL, Curtis. I just learned about Lightfighter the hard way, too. I ordered 4 pairs of 5.11 pants and shorts. One pair of shorts came in 2 weeks. After waiting one and half friggin' months of asking if they had any idea when they'd get their damn shipment, I canceled the order a day ago. I'll get the other 3 pairs somewhere else.
Hey, Nelson- Which 226 are you bringing? The NH production one or your West German?
45R
September 23, 2004, 10:05 PM
Henry-
Depends on the mission requirements for the SLO meet. I will only bring one pistol. It will either be the 226 or 220ST unless I get the 92FS before the shoot.

No, Glocks are fine. Berettas are just way too big for the caliber, and un-ergonomical, and impractical. You could get 15 rounds of 9mm in a Glock for half the size.

I just learned about Lightfighter the hard way, too.
It's some Andrew Wyatt PsyOps is what it is. First it's "Lightfighter has the best prices." A month later it's "But you'll wait forever to get your order."
It's all love, AW. ;)
Maybe if I get lucky on eBay, I'll have a light for my SW1911 in time to operate. (I just narrowly missed a forend light for my Mossy that I don't really "need," but it woulda been a good deal, so...)

September 24, 2004, 03:48 AM
it's about knowing who to order from and when.
ordering from a place right outside of fort brag when there are two simultaneous wars going on is dumb.
also, LF gets no love from the manufacturers because the manufacturers are too busy selling direct to the military in 3000 unit batches.
45R
September 24, 2004, 11:42 AM

LOL!!! You mean you haven't learned from his Enfield Group Buy. The thing has taken over 3 years to do. (Of course this is no fault of his, so he says!!!) :neener: Just kidden BIG JUST KIDDING.
Anyways jokes aside!!
UPDATED!
Duke and I were thinking about resuming to the regular plan of meeting up at the National Forest near SLO. It'll be a THR all weekend BBQ, hiking and photography thing. No guns just hanging out with the crew. Skunk will get to test out his sleeping gear and I'll get to mess around with my 2 burner stove. :) This sound good to the rest of you all. The best of all, a new place to do night ops recon.
Let me know what you guys think.

Jeff put the gloves back on. He's not worth it.
1. You don't know were his hands have been.
2. If the Beretta is too big for Henry.......then I guess he has some "personal" problems if you will. :o
3. If you dont leave bruising ....its not child abuse. :) (JUST KIDDING!!!)

Yeah, camping is cool. Now I gotta buy something to live in--besides, of course, the "Rio camo" cabana. I've had my eye on one of those truck bed tents for a while, but it's not particularly versatile without the truck, I'd think.
Don't you worry: when the time comes, I'll be fully operational and ready to operate.
Oh, and AW... <amphibious salute> :D

COmbatwombat lies.
We all know that glocks are actually bigger than berettas and that the one true 9mm is the BHP.
Also, My new years resolution included a section about not leaving town unless there's shooting.

September 24, 2004, 07:11 PM
No, I meant a Glock 19, Andrew, which you know is smaller than a Beretta. They both can take 15 rounds of 9mm. If you're talking about the 17, fine, it's around the size of a Beretta but it holds 17 rounds.
Naw, Berettas are fine, just not my first preference. Don't hurt me, please!:uhoh:
Will Andrew stop his war against Henry, even though Henry has no idea what it's about? Find out, in the next episode of FlameWars, right here on THR.

Minors packing will not be tolerated because it is illegal. I don't even want to hear people talking about the possibility of this being a part of a THR family gathering.
