Anyone ever try bench rest primers?

I decided that I am gonna try them. They most likely won't show any difference, since I probably can't shoot well enough to know the difference. But the word is that they are blended with more consistency than regular primers, so there is at least some potential. Anyhow, does anyone have experience with them. Are they interchangable with loading data for loads with regular primers? Common sense tells me that I should cut my load back and work up again since I am changing a component, but I would still like to hear your experiences.

I find that the CCI benchrest primers give me a teeny bit more accuracy than standard rifle primers. I use them exclusively for .223 loads. I did notice a more consistent velocity with these vs standard CCI, Winchester. However the velocity was consistent with Federal primers. I like 'em for the little 'BR' stamp. Not sure, but I think they are a bit softer also.

my 25-06 shows a preference for the br-2's. the rest of my rifles either don't care, or have a slight preference for federals.

the br primers tend to be hotter than the standard primers. not quite as hot as a magnum primer, but pretty close.

when you switch to these primers, probably want to drop .5 - 1 grain of powder and come back up if you are running on the edge of maximum for your rifle. i've found peak accuracy to be within +/- 1 grain of whatever was most accurate before the switch.

I used to use them in my 6mm PPC rifles, didn't see any measureable difference in group size with them.

i've used CCI's BR primers as well with my .308 match loads, and they produce more consistent groups and slightly better accuracy than other primers that i've used.

I use nothing other than Remington 7 1/2 small rifle bench rest primers in all sdmall rifle loads. They are the only small rifle primers that meet MilSpec
