Ok so before the AWB expired we were not able to buy weapons with bayo lugs on them right?

Incorrect. You could have bought a rifle with a bayonet lug on it, as long as that gun was in it's configuration prior to the AWB (if it was domestic).

There was no restriction on selling/buying a firearms with a bayonet lug.
