Had the chance to talk to HK people today..jokingly I saids "so you guys are opening up a plant in the US." To which the response was "yes".

Me.."hmm just in time for the assault weapons ban to expire, gonna produce some 91s and 93s to satisfy all the droolers over the past 10 years?"

Him at HK..."I can comment on that"

Aha! So its true! 91s and 93s again...pass it on..

Holy *****, I may have to start saving some money now. I'll take this with a grain of salt though, I'm sure they'll be pumping out their coolest toys if we can get the AWB to sunset, but that is a big "if". Everyone needs to remember how to vote and go do it, it is time for gun owners everywhere to take the extra hour that comes once a year and get their @$$&$ to the polls and help us keep our rights.

After HK establishes some gov't contracts, they're gonna go after civilian market. First w/ pistols (USPs, & P2000's and possibly one dedicated for US market only) and then a 50 state friendly sporting rifle similar to the M1A1.
How's that for rumourmongering?

I"d just be happy with production of SL-6s and SL-7s to comply with Kali law.

I'll tell you one thing.....they ain't building it in **********.:D
It would be great to buy a NIB HK 91 for around $1000.
But unless we get a regime change in ********** we won't see them.

I'm surprised you got a reply from H&K. I wrote to them as they request instead of e-mails -- which they don't give anyway and I'm still waiting for a reply. I have a Class B which means I can't get a "hi-cap" gun -- also from Massachusetts which doesn't help matters. I asked when they'll start putting their guns to the inspectors so we can finanlly see their firearms in gun shops -- no reply. Still waiting....

HK had honkin' big signs on their booth at SHOT mentioning:

A) That they were engaged in the site selection process for their new U.S. plant. (Which, BTW, is a big plus when it comes to winning government contracts.)

B) That they were "renewing their commitment to the American civilian market". This is a little funny, because "renewing" implies that they had one in the first place, but it is still very promising news.

How 'bout getting rid of the stupid law; then you can see all kinds of HK guns. ;) :D

You're going to find that a lot of specialty or niche manufacturers are weighing the importance of these small and artificially restricted markets, and abandoning MA altogether. :(

Tamara, wouldn't they just put it in Ol' Virginny with the rest of the operation? Ease logistics.

Cheaper land & labour in Alabama or over by FN and BubbaMakesWheels in South Cackalacky.

Land/taxes are more likely expensive, but labour is not cheap in Ol' Virginny? Equipment operators only make 19K a year there, allegedly.:D

Putting it in the Deep South, Alabamy or Mississip, would make good sense.

I'll test fire for minimum wage!

Tamara, the 'renewing' bidness is perhaps the new owners were unhappy with the way the old owners neglected the US civilian market, letting Glock, Beretta etc. fly ahead with handgun sales?

I've found that HK (much like SIGarms) is much more responsive if you legally change your last name to "Policedepartment".

"Hello? HK? This is Wildalaska Policedepartment. One of our custo... er, officers, has a broken part on his USP because the idio... er, officer was playing with the slide and trigger while the lock was engaged..." ;) :D
