I have a Galco belt holster for my Soringfield XD357 (also XD9). I own 2 attractive, yet reasonably sturdy belts already, that i have been using with this holster, however, I understand that an online wilderness equipment retailer offers a no-frills "tactical" style belt that is highly recommended, and not unreasonably priced.

I understood the company was wilderness.com, but that website doesn't at all look like the one. Anyone know?

I am pretty sure that you are referring to the Wilderness Instructor Belt...Nothing wrong with it...the local mall ninja's seem to love them :D

Altough not a mall ninja I love the wilderness belts. It seems lately my constant battle with my weight has me between sizes (too big for a 40 too small for a 42). It does a good job of comfortably carrying all the crap I carry every day at work or at the squad.

The Instructor's Belt is most highly recommended, whether your beat is the foodcourt or the...wilderness. I own several. It is important to differentiate between the WIB and a generic rigger's belt, which will not have the requisite stiffness to carry a holster.

I recommend the 1.5 inch 3 stitch. The 1.75 inch widths in my experience can saw thru belt loops. The 5-stitch and the combat belt increase in stiffness. I didnt think it possible but I find them too stiff.

I sweat like a sweaty fat guy and can ruin a leather holster belt in one summer day. The WIB makes this a non-issue.

Several years ago I called the company directly to place an order. i wound up talking to a guy who claimed to be the president. He was super helpful, the service was great and the products are first rate.

One of the few products I recommend specifically and by company name.

If you are looking for a good range or outdoor carry belt and do not want the expense of a good leather then the Wilderness 5 stitch Instructor belt is a good choice.

When the quality of my belt for holstered carry first became an issue, I was wearing Cabela's Garrison Belt (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jhtml?id=0005181900079a&navAction=push&navCount=1&indexId=&podId=0005181&catalogCode=QR&parentId=&parentType=&rid=&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fcatalog%2Fitem-link.jhtml_A&_DAV=search&hasJS=true). On obtaining my CHL, I acquired a Ross Leather IWB holster and belt. The holster is fine, but I was not informed that Ross makes their belt stiffener an extra cost option. The unstiffened Ross belt I received is a fine belt but is not particularly superior to the Cabela’s belt which is available at a much lower cost. Check out the Ross belt (http://www.gunaccessories.com/RossLeather/dress.asp) with stiffener and the Cabela’s Garrison Belt.

There are two places that I'm interested in that have belts with really good reputations for about $50 each. I've never seen anyone write a comparison of the two so when I manage to get a job I plan on buying my brown belt from one and my black from the other and let everyone know how they compare. Anyway, those two places are www.raftersgunleather.com (their cowhide belt) and the gun belts from www.gunnersalley.com

I still won't be able to afford to buy one of REALLY expensive belts but I've heard really good things about both of the above mentioned belts. Don't hold your breath on that review though.

It is the Gunner's Alley model 11/2" It is a great belt.. Reasonably priced... quick service...It is as good as some big name belts for $40.00 more.
