Have been reading 'Breakout' recently about the Chosin
Resevoir campain in the Korean war. The author makes many
references to the Chinese carrying "burb guns". I know these
were come type of Sub-machine guns, but don't know the model.
Anyone here have some information on them?

I was first going to say the PPsH but after a search found this. It looks to be a Chinese copy of the PPsH.

If you have ever heard one fire, you wouldn't need to ask. The cyclic rate of fire is astonishing, and the guns can be terrifying in trench warfare. Sounds like one long r-i-i-i-p.
The first time I heard one (Korea, 1952), the hair stood up on the back of my head . . . and stayed there.
The gun isn't very large, came equipped with a drum magazine, has little value as a long range weapon, but can be almost as effective as a shotgun in a trench fight.

Steve M: I have read the history of that campaign. It is an awsome feat! Guess you could say we 'lost' or 'got driven out' but it was a most heroic event. Fighting the elements, huge numbers of enemy with not enough cold weather gear, too few men, too little food and supplies, guns that froze up and on and on and on. Still, the USMC et al KICKED BUTT!
Makes you proud of every last one of them both living and dead! Such a price-liberty!!!
