I intend to buy a .22LR pistol for plinking and occasional competitions, is the Walter P22 Target pistol a good choice?
I've heard that they have feeding problems in the past.
Are those problems solved by now?

With new mags, problems solved........at least with mine. It's a great little fun gun. Actually it's my wife's, but I might get my own.

So the failure is not due to the pistol itself but to the magazines.
Are after market mags OK or do I need to buy original mags?

I might have to go check, but I believe that mags with a serial number, then a "- A" after it are the new and working magazines.

I have been contemplating the same purchase. From what I've learned, all problems have been taken care of & these are fine shooters.

It's all about ammo. I've had very good success (as have others here and on waltherforums.com) with Remington Golden Bullet bulk packs. It's high velocity ammo and shoots really well. Very, very fun shooter.
