I noticed that with my styer M40 and HK usp40 after getting the standard cap mags for them they do somthing neat. both guns when you seat a loaded full cap mag in it with a firm tap the slide closes automaticaly chambering the first round. I am sure that the beretta M9 also does this too, does any other guns do this with proper mags? and I checked with 10 rounders and the trick doesnt work on them. any one know why the guns do this with standard mags and not the 10 rds?

My USP40 did it with the 10 round mag already. Maybe the added mass made it easier for you to do it now.
How do you like the Steyr? I handled one at the recent show and it felt "not too bad" but how is the support for it now?

I like the styer after putting a hogue slip on grip on it. it made the gun fit my hand better. the recoil is a little differnt than most 40s I have shot, less flip and more strait back. I dont have personal experance with styer support cause the gun hasent had any problems that would require it. I think the site for the us importer is www.styerusa.com. with the usp slamming the mag as hard as i thought I could with out breaking the mag still would not close the slide.

Yeah... I'd imagine it's the extra mass of the loaded magazine that bumps the slide stop up so the slide can go home... Or maybe a slightly less compliant top round... That is to say, if the top round of the full cap mag is tighter than the top round of the 10 round mag, there might be less compliance in the magazine so it might jar the slide stop.
The Steyrs are VERY comfortable guns in my hand. The grip seems smoother than many other guns but I've not shot any of them... But I'd personally put ergonomics almost on par with CZs and BHPs.
And to recoil, the bore axis is very low like it is on a Glock so assuming guns of equal weight, they should recoil less than other models.
Nice guns... economical... Just haven't had a need for one.

My Steyr M40 would do that with the 10 round mags occasionally (I found it most often happened with 180gr FMJ ... not sure if that had anything to do with it).
Hasn't done it in a long time though.

My glock 23 does it all the time no matter what size mags or ammo i'm useing.
