Do any of you members live in the southern California area? If so I would appreciate any info on upcoming gun shows in the area. It would also be helpful if you know of any reputable gun retailer in the area. Ive been dealing with Turners and they seem uninterested in helping new gun owners. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thank you.

As for dealers, there are way too many for "Southern California" to be enough for anyone to give advice. At least give us a county...

Other than the two shotguns I purchased at Big 5 in Lake Forest (and a Glock from LAPRAAC), all my firearms purchases have been from Turner's in Fountain Valley. They've always been very helpful; the downside is that they're very helpful to the guy who was in line before you, too, so sometimes there's a little bit of a wait. But I can't say I have any complaints. (I was never a fan of B&B, Gold Coast was too expensive, and Arrowhead didn't last very long.)

Yeah, the wait at Turners is killer, but thats not what left a bad taste in my mouth. It was the fact that the employees at the Turners in Torrance seem frustrated to answer your questions. In my opinion a firearm purchase is a big purchase. I want to check things out and ask questions about the weapon i am about to drop 600 dollars on. I dunno, maybe just a few bad apples spoiled the bunch for me!

It's not just the Turners in Torrance, I have routinely walked out of the Turners in Reseda. One time was to the tune of FO right in the face of one of the employees!

Like Bob posted, there's a gun show in Ventura next month and one in Costa Mesa also. Most of the dealers there are pretty friendly and will help you out.
