I apologize if this has been discussed. I have some Korean ammo and would like to know how long after I fire it should I clean it?

When I go to the range what should I bring with me. I dont plan on doing a strip down with it there, but would like to make sure I'm not going to have corrosion issues.

Clean it before you hit the sack. If it's corrosive, (KA headstamp) make sure you use something w/ ammonia in it and patch it daily for the next 3 days.

And also, in the case of corrosive KA, be sure to clean your gas cylinder. FYI, KA ammo has caused at least one KB in a Garand, destroying the rifle.

I have a pile of the stuff, but I will now only shoot it in my 03A3.

From what has been reported on www.battlerifles.com, it appears the Korean stuff already on clips (headstamp KA) is guaranteed corrosive, while the stuff in the box (headstamp PS) isn't "supposed" to be corrosive.

There have been a few reports of case head seperations (check the brass). And I forgot where I saw it but there was a tracking list of the lot numbers, and it reported that one of the PS lots turned out to be corrosive.

Best bet would be to clean as if it was all corrosive, that is what I will be doing, and I have the PS stuff from Midway USA.

Most seem for the price a good deal, but your mileage may vary. I only have 200 rounds of the PS stuff, and I probably won't buy anymore. Too many reports of case head seperation.

KA Headstamp is corrosive. PS headstamp is not.

1974 marked PS ammo has experienced case failures.

I've fired al ot of PS ammo, mostlly from late 1970s lots. Worked well, and is not corrosive.

With the PS stuff, I'd avoid the lot numbers in the 150's, especially lot #152. The rest of it seems okay, and it's non-corrosive and reloadable. I have a bunch of lot #172 and it's been great so far (approx 100 rounds worth). The KA stuff has had a couple of nasty reports, but the vast majority of things I've read report that it's good and accurate, albeit corrosive. I'd advise that if you get any KA, give the brass a good inspection before and after you shoot it.

That's how I heard it anyway...YMMV :D

I usually have a heck of a time trying to find my ammo after I shoot it, so I gave up trying to clean it.

Sorry, I couldn't resist! :p :D

What else to take to the range?

A first aid kit?

You are shooting Korean ammo! I would NEVER trust that stuff. Good luck.
