I'm not complaining about the posters , just thought it might be a tech problem that needs attention. Ray

Fear not Ray - you are not alone! I managed 11 dupes on one thread ... strange happenings!:p

Edit .. and this small offering took near five minutes of sitting there before it ''took''!

I figured it out.;)

Its agent Schmucketelli's super computer program (forget the name of it) that hits on key words to record transmissions for their study...you know the one.

It keeps hitting on the term "Assault Weapon" which has been posted on this site about 4.75 billion times since the ban lifted on Sept. 13th. and its clogging it up. Sadly, it's affecting the site itself.:p :D

Is there a new "gun porn" thread up?

When THR takes an image to link to a post, it puts it in the database; the way it's designed, it puts a lock on the entire database table until the insert is complete, which can cause everything else to pile up in line for their turn.

In recent events, this has been the apparent cause.

When we update to vb3 it should be less of a big deal, because we can store attachments in the filesystem instead of the database. We're closer to that now (new server up and fine-tuned as of yesterday...) Give us a week or 2.

something is hinky with the newreply.php

new threads get posted ASAP

replys get shunted off to neverland and a second click or third click on the submit button eventually leads to multiple posts

my clock says 12:08 right now let me click "submit reply"

seems to work fine with DSL. Last night I was home on dial-up.

I’m having the same problem. The board seems to run fine until I submit a post then it slows to a crawl. Being impatient like I am I try and resubmit or something else and end up with multiple posts. Sorry.

Guys, stop hitting the submit button five times. Even if it doesn't get back to you right away, it heard you -- the first time! ;)

I was on DSL when it did it to me last night. I resubmitted it a couple times only and I'm pretty sure it resubmitted a couple extra times when I switched windows and surfed & came bact to that window.

Another forum I frequent deals with this by having a time limit on reposts - if you submit the exact same post more than once within 5 minutes, it doesn't post the resubmitted ones, only the original.

Turned e-mail settings back on - checking to see if the lag has gone away.

Nope - came right back.
