Role Playing Guns

In the bookstore this evening, I saw a manual for using firearms in role-playing games. (stuff like how many points to take off of a character's life if he's shot with a certain weapon - not live action, folks) Anyway, I was looking through it, and it stated that the M-240 and M-249 were American-made versions of the FN guns (Mag 58 and Minimi). I had thought these guns were made by FN in Belgium.

What's the story?

FN has a U.S. plant where they make all (I believe) of the guns for the military.

My two cents as american made is a pet peeve subject of mine. I believe all govt. purchases (federal, military, state, local) should require made in america as a requirement. Too many jobs and too much money goes overseas these days. If we concentrate on keeping with american made many jobs would be saved and the deficit would quit climbing like it is. Make america rich and come out ahead, not other countries. I am not so nieve to believe this is 100% possible but it could be improved.

Uh, OK Jim.

Andy Wyatt, I don't know what you talkin' about, son. I should have put a disclaimer on my original post that said, "I'M NOT AN RPG NERD." OK, I did play AD&D a few times. Really cool game format.

Any country is better off if they can produce all of their military ordinance in country.
As violatile as the world climate is nowadays it would be foolhardy to depend on another country to prodice vital components of our defense system.

The last thing we need is some fanatical terrorist group sabatoging or blackmailing a manufacturer located in another country.

FN having a plant on our soil ensures that we are able to produce what we need, when we need it.
