THE CREMATION OF REASON
By Ken Gallacher
With Apologies to Robert Service

The Northern lights have seen queer sights
But the queerest they ever did see
Was that day at the Bay, with all the leftists and gays
When they rioted and looted for peace

Now San Francisco is a Mecca you know,
For anti-establishment freaks
There’s dead-heads galore, and supporters of Gore
And “One Planet, One People, Please”

So they came to Height-Ashbury, and they came to hate Bush
And Powell and Rumsfeld too
And they marched in a throng, and they sang a few songs
About anti-war gobbledygook

And then to make clear how much they love peace
They threw rocks and bottles at all the police
Broke into stores, smashed windows and doors
And stole VCR’s and TV’s

Ah, the Northern Lights have seen queer sights
But the queerest they ever did see
Was that day at the bay, with all the leftists and gays
When they rioted and looted for peace

This sums it up for me- wish I had written the poem.:scrutiny:

Robert Service would not accept the apologies.... :)

Aerial photography has led some to believe that instead of the vaunted 200k marchers there were only 60k during its peak. Most marchers were peaceful but there is that fringe anarchist group (about 2k) who use the anonymity of the crowd to riot. The police were commendably self restrained (I would have ordered a water cannon & soap suds).

Does the shoe fit, Malone?Since you asked...
...with all the leftists and gays
When they rioted and looted for peace
We'll ignore the bigotry for a second and just refer to 4v50 Gary's comment. You must be confused with the superbowl.
Now San Francisco is a Mecca you know,
For anti-establishment freaks
There’s dead-heads galore, and supporters of Gore
And “One Planet, One People, Please” All sounds good to me.
So they came to Height-Ashbury, and they came to hate Bush
And Powell and Rumsfeld too It wasn't anywhere near Haight-Ashbury. And I can hate those b*tt-plugs anywhere.
And then to make clear how much they love peace
They threw rocks and bottles at all the police
Broke into stores, smashed windows and doors
And stole VCR’s and TV’s Meter is off... rhyme is wrong... oh, yeah, and it never happened.

Any more questions?

Pull yourselves together.

This is rapidly getting un-civil on a number of levels... let's at least watch our language.
