Ok, I am looking into buying one.
It is from the Performence Center. Like new.
Any pros or cons?
Thanks,
Bob

Two years ago at the range I frequent was an ad for the S&W 6906 which came with the pre ban 12 round mag. It was a very good buy and it is a sweet gun. Never had a failure to fire or a stovepipe. You can trust your life on it. Some people are still bitter with Smith & Wesson, but it's new management and they make great guns.
P.S. They are made in the USA and the new owner is American.

This is basically a fine quality, compact 3rd gen. Smith. Light, reliable, and easily concealed.
The rear bottom edge of the grip is sharp and bothers some people's hands. Also the the original factory grips do not blend into the the frame very smoothly. As a result, I found some pain on the inside of my right (shooting hand) thumb. Cured this with some discreet filing of the grip panels' rear edges to improve the transition to the frame.
The deal sounds excellent. I'd say it would be a smart buy.

I've owned a 6906 since I traded my 469 some years back. I found it to be a totally reliable carry gun. The alloy frame and Stainless slide make a good combination that holds recoil to a min imum. I never remember having a FTF or a FTE. My only complaint about the gun is that it is in 9mm and I have never found that caliber to be very accurate. I also own a S&W 4013 tactical that appears to be on the same frame. ( Both pistols are almost identical as to their physical envelope. ) The 40 is much more accurate IMO and offers the same reliability. Either way you can't go wrong

My complaint w/ the S&W autos is in the grip...they're not the most ergonomic. But, you like how the grip feels in your hands, they're nice shooters (esp. the PC ones)!

What's the difference between a Performance Center 6906 and a police trade in 6906 that SOG sells for $300?

The first autoloader I bought (10 years ago) was a 6906. I shoot at the local police range and the cops here all carry Sig 226's. I took a lot of ribbing about my Smith so I sold it and bought a Sig. Can't fault the Sig but I still miss the 6906. Bought a 3913 but the grip was too narrow for me so I gave it to my son's wife. Still miss that little 6906!

I was wrong. It is a S&W 5906 "Shorty Nine" from the Performence Center.
It's a sweetie, and yes I did buy it. 3.5bbl., cut down grip, etc, etc.
