Looking to buy an AR style rifle. I'm located in east central iowa. Anyone have any leads/experience? I haven't run across any in my travels. Not really interested in internet purchasing.

That's a shame. If you have a local FFL who will transfer guns for you, you can get things much, much cheaper. You also avoid paying sales tax (if your state has any sales tax) on your purchase.

concur. Internet shopping is nice. The main disadvantage is that you cannot see it first.

Let's evahbuddy jump on him....
One must do the requisite research to insure a clean transaction; know the product you're trying to buy. Follow the "rules of payment" to protect yourself (do some seller-background research here, and you won't get burned).
Internet's a great way to lower your prices. I couldn't afford these toys if I had to pay 'store' prices--and all the prices I quote included shipping costs. (There's room to haggle on the 'net--I always offer my bid as 'shipping and insurance included'. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.) Best of all, I've never dealt with anyone who hasn't had manners.
Wilson Combat Super Grade used, $1800
Leica Televid 77 w/ 20x60 lens $750
Nightforce NSX 5.5-22x56mm NP-R2 $915
Burris Black Diamond 6-24x50mm w/side focus $410
and the best for last, dollar-wise, a "two-way tie":
Ed Brown Kobra Carry "used", LNIB unfired, $1200
Nightforce NSX 5.5-22x56mm NP-R2 $720
the deals are out there, and if one has the patience, the selection is vast.
