www.wibc.com has a poll on the home page.

The Running Tally

Yes. D.C.'s crime remains high. Repeal protects Second Amendment rights. 80.2%

No. Homicide rate is declining. Business people oppose repeal. And this is D.C.'s business. 19.8%

Anyone else find it repugnant that the capitol of arguably the most free nation in the world doesn't allow it's citizens to defend themselves with the most effective tool available?

You should have seen the local NBC news. This may not be 100% accurate, but as I recall the bullets (no pun intended):

* Residents will be allowed to walk the streets with loaded AK-47's
* No registration of guns (This is a bad thing?)
* Concealed carry would be legal
* Blah blah blah

I asume the VPC wrote the piece.

Del. Norton, the chief and da mayor all expressed oposition. The chief blamed 'gun violence' on the neighboring states where guns are obtained legally and 'find' their way into the hands of drug dealers and children. Of course, it's the gun's fault. Norton and the mayor had similar opinions, but I must have blocked them out.

At least they did have one resident who favored the repeal since he had his apartment broken into and was threatened at gunpoint. He thought it might be nice to be able to defend himself and his family and that owning a gun might be a deterrent to crime. What a novel idea!

If it actually becomes law, I might have to move to DC since the gun laws would be much less restrictive than Maryland's.
