I've been CCWing for awhile, but little did I know how good holsters could get for the full-size pistols I prefer. This BladeTech was worth every penny!! A Wilderness Instructor belt to replace my Fossil belt and a new mag carrier and I'm set. Also shown is my omnipresent Gerber multitool.

I use the same set up as you. This Blade Tech is going on almost ten years old. They make great stuff. Kydex for IWB is the only way to go. Thats my second Wilderness in the same time period and its about due for replacement. Its the most comfortable belt I've ever used.

As you'll soon be able to tell, I don't see a lot of concealed weapons here in IL... for those of you with shirts tucked in, what do you use as a cover garment? Without cover wouldn't that be considered open carry? Thanks!

I usually just wear an untucked oxford type shirt in the summer and a sweatshirt in the winter. I really dont have a dress code at work, so I can pretty much get away with anything. If I do have to get dressed up where I need to have a shirt tucked in without a jacket, I wear a Kramer Confidant undershirt holster. It will hide that Commander with a double reload under a dress shirt, but two SIG P230's are a lot more comfortable. :)

CCW in a dressy environment can be tricky. Some things that have worked on and off for me...

-Can you wear a blazer or jacket all day? I'm a big fan of the "slacks and blazer" look.

-Can you wear a baggy sweater-vest? That's hard to do. Most sweater-vests are too tight.

-Can you wear a "fleece vest" or a baggy sweater all day? May not work in some office.

Worst case, you have to fall back to a pocket pistol. My P-3AT and a spare mag in a good pocket hoster look and act like a wallet. Works in any pocket. If you can't carry anything bigger, that'll have to do.

Almost exclusively OWB 3 o'clock or just back a bit. I use mostly the first rig .... no pic of it in place right now ... but this is a Jim Burke belt slide .. excellent cant and this means grips are above rig and don't project to rear . Makes for excellent draw and holds tight to body nicely. Concealment with shirt, vest etc .. easy. I have a SOB rig recently aquired , for full size 1911 .. am going to try that sometime.

The second rig was recently made for me by K&D holsters - pretty much a copy of the other .. so I have a spare. In the pic it is still very new and stiff so belt looks a tad awkward - this will soften over time.

Sadly Jim died last year and the business has ceased.

Here's the Pancake Holster (made by Mark Waldon ... TFLer who apparently is no longer in the holster business) I converted to IWB.

Its made for a Steyr M but carries my S40 quite nicely.

mattz357, I wear a white t-shirt or wife beater under a baggy t-shirt to keep from sweating all over my gun, and it feels better to have a layer of cloth between the holster and my flab.

i took the other shirt off for the above pic

Matt,

I usually wear any old t-shirt as a cover garment. It conceals just fine. If that's too casual I try to wear an untucked button down shirt. I have worn the C-TAC tucked in a few times but I personally think that you have to blouse it just a tad too much so that it makes it look sloppy.

Full-Size Springfield in a Brommeland Gunleather Maxcon V with a Brommeland magpouch on a Rafter S belt.

I, too wear a t-shirt or wife-beater as an unda-shirt, then a cover of some sort. At work, it's an untucked golf shirt, but a semi-loose t-shirt works just as well. I have found some hawaiian-cut (squared-off tails) shirts in solid colors to be excellent summer covers, and some can even get you to a business-casual status.
