A friend wants some steel shot. I went to Tabor's in San Bruno and all he has is lead. Went to the gunshop that was in South San Francisco and they're closed for good and there's a for lease sign. Anyplace in the SF Bay Area sell steel shot?

My question is WHY? It's pretty terrible stuff. For hunting, I'd spend more on some of the non-toxic heavier than steel shot. I was very disappointed with the performance of steel shot when my brother took me goose hunting.

He wants to make a rattle & lead is out. At last, there's a justification for the existence of steel shot - musical instruments. :p

If he just wants a small amount why not just buy a couple of boxes of shells & a razor blade?What,$8-$10?

Like 41mag said , you may have to just buy a box of shells and cut them open to retrieve the shot

HSMITH, if you have some (about the volume of a cup) I'd be willing to buy it.

Guys, I was just out preparing my boat and gear for the duck season, which starts tomorrow, and realized I have a box and a half of shells with corrosion that I won't be shooting. These are 3.5" mags, #2 and BBB shot, so there will be quite a bit of shot when the shells are cut open. A cup easily and probably more. The shot might have a little corrosion on it too, but it should clean up easily with a little WD-40.
I don't have any 'new' steel shot, but the shells I mention ^^^ are prime candidates for cutting down. If this sounds good to you guys let me know.
