Yes indeedy.
The 96 action is stronger than we commonly give it credit for, but its gas handling is several steps behind the 98 action and many other subsequent designs. Ol' Dad is very lucky, methinks.

I couldn't open the pictures, but when I read "24.5 grains of Unique"...I coudl imagine.

The person who posted it gave the username and password to access the pictures on a following post.
I was actually shocked on how well the M96 held together and everyone walked away from the incident.
