No problems with Kimbers

I took my three Kimbers to the range today. 5 inch Custom TLE II 4 inch Tac Pro II and Ultra carry II. Not a single FTF or FTE just a great bunch of 1911s shooting as they should.:) The reason I am posting this thread is because I keep reading in both Glock Talk and the 1911 Forum about all the peoples who are posting about their sad Kimber problems. Since I no longer can post in their forums I just thought I would set the record about my three Kimbers.

I have a few Kimbers myself and they are always 100% for me. I have heard the same comments about the negatives but I have had nothing but great shooting enjoyment! I trust one with my life everyday.

Only problem I have had with my Pro Carry was with the original mag.

Got some Wilson Combat mags and all well. No problems whatsoever.

Not all Kimbers have problems, it seems there are some with MIM parts that do not hold up well. This is more of a problem with the quality of the small parts that Kimber buys than with Kimber's quality. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of the small parts is unknown, so when things go wrong, Kimber gets all of the blame.

Kimber makes all of their small parts. They are the identical parts that are sold under the name Chip McCormack.

I have two problems while shooting my TLE. One is if I have a short OAL cartridge. This is NOT a Kimber problem. Any ammo in spec is fine. The other is if I limp-wrist--that is MY problem.

All my Kimbers run fine.

I am pretty sure Kimber sells the most guns, therefore you'll hear they have the most problems. Sure, some have problems, but I've seen more Glocks choke than Kimbers.

Kimber did from time to time have some problems with small parts, but like most 1911s the main problems came from people tinkering with them then blaming the pistol when it fails. How many times have you seen posts of people buying brand new pistols, immediately swapping out parts, then scratching their heads and cussing when it chokes?

The two I have work nicely.

Who would you recommend to do a reliability package and a steel feed ramp for a Kimber Series 1 Pro Carry?

After fixing the slide stop that kept hanging up while rounds were still in the mag, mine still malfunctions just enough to keep me from trusting it.

I have quite a few rounds through mine and it works fine. That said, all manufacturers make lemons. All of them. And they are not the type you can make lemonade out of.

Which is why when I find something that works well now I hold onto it.

My education has been expensive.:)

No problems with my Kimbers.

Pro CDP and Ultra CDP. They are two of my favorite single stacks. No chokes, hiccups, burps, misfeeds....and danged accurate too.

Although I must add....I have only had two 1911's that ever coused me any grief, one was mag spring trouble, the other was bad mag lips.

They're all 100% now. (Colt, Springield, Kimber, Para Ordnance)

When I gave my Kimber report about problems, it was based on testimony given by a Maricopa County Sheriff's deputy!! I figured he ought to know!!
If they really do work, then that's great!!
Hey, I was wrong about the S&W Sigma!!

My Kimber Custom II TLE-RL is the first 1911A1 that was 100% reliable.

My Kimber Custom Defender II has been 100% reliable. I CCW it every day.
I love the rants of the 1911 bashers. They are always good for a laugh.

I'm 50% on my four Kimbers. TLE II and PB Pro II have been 100% out of the box.

Ultra Carry need increase in extractor tension after a few hundred rounds, been fine since.

BP Ultra Ten II had mag releated problems. Gun was 100% as long as I loaded 6 or fewer rounds into the mags (I got an extra mag when I got the gun) whcih kind of defeats the purpose of buying a wide body gun! Stronger mag springs and much filing and polishing of the mag seam welds has made the function 100% -- shot my CHL renewal with it.

My Kimber had given me 6 years of reliable service. The malfunctions can be counted on the fingers of one hand and where due to ammo problems or mag problems, NOT gun problems.

My Kimber Pro Combat Series I works 100% only if I use Mec Gar mags. The Kimber will not work 100% with CMM, MetalForms, or Wilson Mags.

This one and it's 3 brothers are keepers. :)
Surprisingly the fixed sights are dead on at 50 yards.
