2nd Amendment Magnet Ribbons, Pre-Order Now

September 30, 2004, 12:30 AM
THR members, we are ready to begin accepting orders for our 2nd Amendment Magnet Ribbons (see this thread (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=102848)).

After compiling the votes we have decided to start with 250 each of designs 1 & 2 that GOT designed for us. This will be silver ribbon with dark silver edge and black (or blue?) print.

*** Late flash - several people, including our designer GOT, have suggested BLUE print instead of BLACK print. I like this idea, so as you order please include a vote on whether you want them printed BLUE or BLACK. We will only order them one way, majority vote wins on this one. ***

Due to the costs involved, we are not going to place the order for three weeks. During this time we will accept 'definite orders' at a reduced price. After we place the order the price will go up. Payment is not due until product is ready to ship.

The pricing structure is:

Until order date of October 22nd, 2004 - $2.40 each ribbon magnet plus shipping of $1.00 per 10 (or fewer)

After order date each magnet will be $5.00 plus $2.00 shipping per 10.

The problem is that it is going to cost $1,773.00 to order and distribute 500 of these ribbon magnets, and so far only 125 have been spoken for. We are not able to afford to risk this much money without some assurance the expenditure can be recouped. If this offends anyone, feel free to suggest an alternative method of financing this venture.

If anyone can get bulk orders from gun shops, etc., then we will be happy to discount for larger quantities even after the order date.

You may e-mail David Row (THR member dav) at davrow@san.rr.com (mailto:davrow@san.rr.com) to place a definite order, or you may list it here. I will tally the results and present them in this thread.

You can also check our 2nd Amendment Ribbons website at davrow.us (http://davrow.us) where we will offer on-line ordering in the near future.

I'm in for 10 of #2.

September 30, 2004, 01:15 AM
10 of #1, Blue text.

September 30, 2004, 01:21 AM
10 of #1
10 of #2

Both blue.

Just so I understand this... Its advantageous to place the order BEFORE October 22 as its only $2.40/magnet. In other words I pay $50 ($48 plus $2 for shipping for 20 magnets). If I order after October 22, I'll have to pay $102 ($50 plus $2 shipping). Is this right?

I'm going to visit some local gun shops and see if I can get more orders so my total may increase.

September 30, 2004, 09:37 AM
I'll take 10 - of #2 BLUE

Pete (The Oldfella)

September 30, 2004, 09:56 AM
I'm in for 10 of #2 in blue.

September 30, 2004, 10:18 AM
I'm still in for 10, just let me know where to send the money.

BTW, I vote for the BLUE text.

September 30, 2004, 11:19 AM
I'll take 5 of design #1.
I prefer BLACK lettering... :D

September 30, 2004, 12:24 PM
Confirm my order for 4 in BLUE

September 30, 2004, 12:41 PM
Put me down for 10 #2 Design with Blue lettering.

How do we submit payment?

Cool Hand Luke 22:36
September 30, 2004, 01:19 PM
Put me down for five (5):

2 of No. 2 in Blue

3 of No. 1 in Blue

September 30, 2004, 01:43 PM
2, design #1

2, design #2

I prefer the black lettering.

September 30, 2004, 03:07 PM
I kinda feel cheap only getting two after the previous posters quantities.

Still take two either style, either color text. Matters not.

September 30, 2004, 03:15 PM
10 of #2...prefer BLACK but can live with BLUE :-)

September 30, 2004, 03:17 PM
GOT, yes you understand correctly, but again if the orders are large enough after the 22nd then the price can be discounted.

Everybody, your request on this thread reserves the quantity you ask for at the lower price. We haven't setup to receive payments yet, so we'll let you know closer to the actual order date where to do that.

BLUE is winning so far. Hope mattz357 doesn't get to upset with me... he wants BLACK. heh heh :uhoh:

September 30, 2004, 03:28 PM
Nah, Mattz never gets mad ;)

I'll take 10 of #1, blue please.

September 30, 2004, 03:49 PM
I'll take 10 of #2.

I like the blue text best.

September 30, 2004, 05:45 PM
I like the black better, but I don't dislike the blue. I'm in for 5 of number one for right now, probably more later.

September 30, 2004, 05:50 PM
Is this for the original "Patriot Blue" or the navy blue in GOT's design? The patriot blue does stand out pretty well now that I look at it again.

Third post down http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=101959&perpage=&pagenumber=3

September 30, 2004, 06:28 PM
Navy blue. :D

September 30, 2004, 07:05 PM
I'll take five of each, but... uh....

Do you take visa? :D

And I think that blue looks great.

I'm in Korea and don't think I can get money orders over here.

September 30, 2004, 07:49 PM
GOT, can we see them in "patriot blue" for a reference? Thanks!

September 30, 2004, 08:15 PM
Here is "Patriot Blue": IMHO the printed version of this patriot blue won't look as majestic as the navy blue. The NAVY BLUE is going to look nice and dark from far way and then when you get close the navy blue color will become apparent and will look quite nice I think (and the silvery look of the ribbon is more enhanced with the darker navy blue). But like you say, what majority wants :)

September 30, 2004, 08:25 PM
I won't be disappointed with any of the three colors. With any luck, we'll have them in time for Christmas, one of these would make a great addition to the 686 I got for my dad.

September 30, 2004, 08:27 PM
Hard to explain - I like them both... the Patriot Blue is "softer", nice; but the Navy Blue has a more "serious" tone to it... do I make any sense?

September 30, 2004, 08:32 PM
Makes sense to me. Like the difference between a light blue day suit compared to a dark blue business suit. The guy wearing a dark blue suit always seems to have more authority and presence.

September 30, 2004, 08:40 PM
5 each, navy blue... ROCK!

September 30, 2004, 11:49 PM
Allow me to clarify my last post.

Navy Blue please!

either that or black.

October 1, 2004, 09:08 AM
Put me down for 4 of style #2..

October 1, 2004, 09:45 AM
Put me down for, four # 2, Navy blue.

October 1, 2004, 11:18 AM
Put me down for 10 of the #2 design. I would like them in blue!
Thanks, Mike Arnold

October 1, 2004, 11:38 AM
I don't really care which color we go with, but i suppose the blue will match my car.

I'm still in for 4 of design number 1.

October 1, 2004, 12:19 PM
GOT, the images in BLUE are a single .gif on solid background. Can you supply me with those as separate gif's with transparent background for posting on the ordering website (http://davrow.us), please? Pretty please?

October 1, 2004, 02:07 PM
10 of #1, Navy blue, definite.

Email also sent.

Thanks for doing all the work.

October 1, 2004, 03:51 PM
5 of each Navy blue.

Should be interesting on my vehicle since I have a silver van, the ribbon may not show up to well.:D

October 1, 2004, 06:50 PM
I'll take 10 of #2 regardless of color. :p

October 1, 2004, 08:33 PM
Dav, hows this work (I sized them to the size you have on your site)?

The transparency should work. Sometimes if you simply copy the image, you will lose the transparency (the alpha channel... or something like that). In that case save the image and THEN open up in whatever app you're using.

October 1, 2004, 08:36 PM
Oh and Dav, you might want to mention that the "ribbon shape" is a design by MagnetAmerica.com. I'm only using MagnetAmerica.com's ribbon design becuase its for their ribbon-magnets anyway.

If people want a "copyright" free image then I could whip one up for whatever use they want.

October 1, 2004, 08:48 PM
GOT, those new pictures worked perfectly. Thank you.

I'll add a mention of MagnetAmerica to the site, too.

October 1, 2004, 10:36 PM
5 number 1 in blue for me. Thanks.

October 1, 2004, 10:42 PM
I take one of the number 2's.

Mr. Kook
October 1, 2004, 11:19 PM
I'll buy five of whatever is finally decided upon. Just let me know a final price and the preferred payment method.

October 2, 2004, 12:09 AM
I'm in for 5 of Design 2 in blue.

October 2, 2004, 05:17 AM
Put me down for 10 of #2 in the blue color, and where and when to send money. Nice job.

October 2, 2004, 04:50 PM
You have me down for three.
What the heck, give me 10.
I am with the majority: whatever design or color.

October 2, 2004, 06:25 PM
i would like to get 5 of #1 and 5 of #2 in black lettering.

October 2, 2004, 06:59 PM
5 of the winning design.

I prefer #2 and Blue, but I will commit to whatever wins.

October 2, 2004, 10:38 PM
I'm in for 5 # 2 blue.
Where/how do you want money??

contact me at: swampertwo2@yahoo.com

October 3, 2004, 01:08 AM

I'm in for 10 number two's. Let me know if you need help.

October 3, 2004, 08:45 AM
dav, NOT including those you listed in your original thread, or those that said "I'll take x amount of whichever," we have 164 orders for #2 and 69 for #1 at this point. Overwhelmingly, the preference is blue. Given those numbers, I'd like to propose that all of us #1 voters consider the fact that if we could accept #2 instead, we could order 500 of #2 and 0 of #1, making the price cheaper for everyone. Food for thought.

October 3, 2004, 09:08 AM
I second that - most every one says they'll take blue or which ever is agreed upon... lets go with Mattz suggestion and be done with it.

Pete (The Oldfella

October 3, 2004, 09:29 AM
I'm in for 10. Either #1 or #2, black or blue. I need extra for when some low life steals or destroys it. It's gonna happen, I guarentee it.:cuss:

October 3, 2004, 09:50 AM
TennTucker, I thought someone would steal the pink ribbon I got for my wife too, but it has remained on her trunk lid for several months. What mildly concerns me is our midwest winter weather. Salt, ice and water may not be friendly either to keeping it on or keeping it nice.

October 3, 2004, 10:27 AM
I'd like to propose that all of us #1 voters consider the fact that if we could accept #2 instead, we could order 500 of #2 and 0 of #1, making the price cheaper for everyone.

Sounds good to me too. Is everyone else going to be happy with that?

I'll still take a total of 20.

October 3, 2004, 01:58 PM
I'll pre-order 5 of the #2 design. Flexible, if you end up with too many #1's left I'd be happy with those as well.

October 3, 2004, 03:25 PM
Count me in.

5 for design #1 in blue.

Will you email when they are ready? I don't get to the boards as much as I would like to. My email "apriorius at hotmail.com"

EDIT: Actually, I'll take 5 of whatever the final design is...I prefer #1 though.

October 3, 2004, 07:51 PM
Put me down for 6 of the #2 in blue.

October 3, 2004, 09:58 PM
I'll take (50) of them in which ever one wins. Will this be a long term printing thing or a one time only afair. I may need many many more of these if it is long term.

October 3, 2004, 10:06 PM
NoHarm, as of right now it is scheduled as a one time buy. The minimum order is 250, which is the most prohibitive factor. Do you have a gun shop or do you plan on selling them at gun shows? I hope that they somehow "make it big." I don't think many forum members are from central IL, but if I ever see someone with one of these on their car I'll honk and wave like crazy. dav, it looks like we may sell out of these earlier than we thought!

October 3, 2004, 10:23 PM
I hope we get enough requests that we can have both design #1 and #2 printed inexpensively. I like them both.

I bet if these ribbons are popular enough that MagnetAmerica.com will sell them themselves as well. They already sell most of the other ribbon designs individually.

October 3, 2004, 10:46 PM
order 500 of each #1 and #2.... I bet they will sell quickly. We can ask folks on other gun boards to see if we can move them.

October 3, 2004, 11:00 PM
I posted a link to the original thread on Glocktalk, S&W Forum, and SIGforum and didn't get much support. Several of these sites have links to the order page and still not much support. I think relying on other forums would be a bad idea, but someone like NoHarmNoFAL may help out quite a bit.

October 3, 2004, 11:12 PM
I posted a link on several other forums as well. A couple of people have responded positively. I'm working on getting some local shops to put in a request, as I would like to order more. If we wind up with a surplus I will take a bunch of them. One of my brothers is pro-gun/2nd Amendment and I bet he could move several of them too (lives in Arizona).

Someone sugested to me that I should tell the NRA about the ribbons (I have no idea how to do that). What about GOA and SAF? Do we want to tell those orgs about this?

October 3, 2004, 11:21 PM
I can't speak for dav, but I think telling other organizations is a great idea! They are likely to order large quantities, so that should make shipping easier on dav, and they will also hopefully get the magnets to reach farther and to more people.

October 4, 2004, 12:10 AM
OK, I just emailed several gun-rights and 2nd-amendment rights sites. Lets see what happens (is this a grass roots adventure?).

Hey Dav, you might want to update the ribbon images on your site (at http://davrow.us/ ). I sent out a link to your site and this thread with all the emails.

October 4, 2004, 12:55 AM
I linked to this from CZ forum and probably a lot of others linked from other forums.

October 4, 2004, 12:55 AM
Upping my order to 10 of #2 in navy blue, works for me. I will be placing an order shortly.

October 4, 2004, 08:01 AM
Just so we have an image of the ribbons on this page...

The NAVY BLUE text versions of designs #1 and #2:

October 4, 2004, 10:31 AM
I don't have a shop but I peddle my brass at gun shows and I can see this being a huge seller. I was just wanting a smaller amount for starters. I have been looking for something like this for a while.

Black Snowman
October 4, 2004, 10:47 AM
If we go with #2 that's fine, I'll still be in for 10.

October 4, 2004, 07:39 PM
I am in the original list for "a few"

What I will commit to is 1 of the #1 styles and 2 of the #2 styles.

I do like the way the blue looks, so that gets my vote.

When/where do I send the money?

October 5, 2004, 07:36 PM
As you can see, I am a newbie on this forum. Saw it posted on an outdoors best shooting forum. I would be interested in 5 of each style for a total of 10, or if only one style is printed, 10 of that style, all in blue.

Thanks, Frank

October 5, 2004, 07:39 PM
avmech, you just made my day. I think it's AWESOME that someone registered just to buy these magnets. AWESOME!

October 5, 2004, 07:52 PM
That is what got me over here!! I have been, however, a "gun nut" for most of my 48 years.....the first couple really don't count.....

October 5, 2004, 08:01 PM
Welcome to THR, AVMech - you're gonna like these ribbons, right guys? :)

October 5, 2004, 08:28 PM
Welcome Avmech!

Matt...do you have an update for everybody on the status? I try to check up on this tread as much as I can but I have this nagging feeling that when you guys get ready it'll be the week I'm out of town!! :)

October 5, 2004, 09:06 PM
Hey Avmech welcome! There are couple of other guys here from over there and who have put in a request for the ribbon.

you're gonna like these ribbons, right guys?

Thats right :D A few people I work with want some of the ribbons too.

October 5, 2004, 09:23 PM
Cacique, actually dav is the man now. He's got the ordering and payment, which is the biggest part. The website is looking very good and we're only days away from actually placing the order, so we're moving right along.

October 5, 2004, 09:29 PM
I’ve submitted the design files to MagnetAmerica.com's graphic people. They are currently working on getting the 2ND AMENDMENT ribbon all set up in-house. Soon it goes to their printer.

The website is looking very good...

Yep. Dav, your 2nd amendment page is looking good!

October 6, 2004, 12:42 AM
I'm in for 10 of # 2, in Blue please, Nice design!

October 6, 2004, 02:09 AM
I'm in for 40 of design #2, blue text please.

October 6, 2004, 01:35 PM
Dav...I'll take 10 of #2 in blue please.....Originally requested 2 but...I am thinking once my buddies etc see them they'll go fast. thanks to all involved in putting this together too.....mack

October 6, 2004, 06:57 PM
I spent some time talking with the graphic people at MagnetAmerica.com today. Things are going good. I think they are in South Carolina (at least the custom graphic people)... it was their accent that gave them away:p

We will have a proof sometime soon.

October 6, 2004, 10:34 PM
I will take 2 of #1 and 1 of #2; my preference is black text, but blue is fine.

October 6, 2004, 10:50 PM
I just emailed Dav to order 10 ... how are the numbers looking?

October 7, 2004, 03:57 PM
Just to keep everyone posted (and since SkyDaver asked...)

Currently we have 59 people ordering, 221 of design #1 & 272 of design #2 for a total of 493 ribbons!

Obviously, I need to increase our order before we've even received any. The price will be coming down from the $2.40 previously posted, but we won't know the new price until I've had a chance to talk to our printers.

Thanks to all for pre-ordering so we could make a valid estimate of demand. More news soon.

Another bit of info... The MagnetAmerica.com people are going to see if a metallic silver ink will look good on the ribbon. They are going to print some up (when they get to that point) and see how it looks and then run with it if it looks cool. I'm thinking it will look neat.

October 7, 2004, 10:02 PM
Count me in for one of each....

October 8, 2004, 09:43 AM

I'll take ten of either design #1 or design #2. Let me know when and where to send payment. Thanks!

October 9, 2004, 01:19 PM
It appears that there may be a slight problem with the light gray background (don't know for sure during the weekend). However in light of that, to increase the contrast of the text-to-background-color there needs to be a white border placed around the text. This actually increases readability above and beyond the light gray versions.

Below is more refined version of what the final product will look like (based upon a proof from MagnetAmerica.com and including the white border). For scale reference, this image is 50% the size of what the actual ribbon will be.

If people don't like the white border then we can insist on that the lighter gray coloring. Its just according to the proof from MagnetAmerica they made the gray coloring a lot darker than I did (just trying to prepare for the case that we may have to use a darker color for the ribbon).

What do you all think?

October 9, 2004, 01:26 PM
For reference here are the lighter ribbon colored versions. I like both styles.

October 9, 2004, 02:16 PM
Heck, I like the darker version... looks more like my stainless steel revolvers - Go get'em guys.

October 9, 2004, 02:50 PM
Put me down for 5 jerryd!

October 9, 2004, 10:48 PM
I like the darker gray better!!!!!!

October 10, 2004, 05:32 AM
I like the darker version as well.

October 10, 2004, 09:38 AM
I like the darker as well.

You said they images you posted were 50% of actual size, so these are going to be the little ribbons then right? Approximately3 to 4 inches tall?

October 10, 2004, 10:12 AM
Put me down for 10 of the #2 design.

I like the dark gray better.

I'm going to be gone for a couple weeks so If you start the orders in that time I'm going to be gone. But when I get back I'll pay up. I promise.:)

October 10, 2004, 02:18 PM
I think that the dark looks really good. Dav, are we increasing the order quantity for either/both ribbon yet?

October 10, 2004, 02:52 PM
Matt - Dav - GOT Over 500 are already spoken for... if you order 1,000 of the #2 dark, they will all be gone within a month after you receive them.

October 10, 2004, 06:44 PM
This great! If we order 500 the price drops to $1.90/magnet, and if we order 1000 the price is $1.50/magnet, right?

Cacique500 the actual size will be approximately 8 x 3.9 inches. They are the same size as all those popular yellow "Support Our Troops" magnet ribbons (MagnetAmerica.com prints those to). I guess the size gets all messed up depending on what kind, size and settings of the computer monitor one has.

Just so everyone knows, the darker gray color is from MagnetAmerica's proof. We specified a lighter gray (for better contrast and readability). So until we talk to them tomorrow we won't know why they made it so dark. It could be that they made a mistake. It could be that the metallic color I talked to them about, figures out to be that dark when they try to represent it on a light-emitting medium (a computer monitor). I don't know yet.

The problem arises when we have dark text AND a dark background. Either the text must be dark and the background light OR the text light and the background dark. If they are too close in value of light -vs- dark, then the readability will be hindered and we don't want that for an item that will go on a car. It would be fine for a poster where people will stand in front of for several seconds. But for a moving medium (your car) the contrast must be emphasized for quick recognition.

I'm submitting a "change diagram" on the proof for MagnetAmerica.com to correct several minor details. Then we will get another proof (dav gets the proof since the project is in his name), correct or accept it and then they print.

October 10, 2004, 08:05 PM
I have a slightly different take, or opinion on the purpose of the ribbon; it is to be recognized as a cause...its readability is secondary. Most ribbons out there are recognized/identified by their color, not by what they say on them. No matter the color, it is most difficult to read anything that sized on the fly. The message on the ribbon, more often than not, is read as we walk by while the car is parked or stopped, or when the car in front of us is waiting at a stop light/sign. After a while, our ribbon will be recognized by its color, because they have read its message before, when standing still. Do I make any sense?

October 10, 2004, 09:02 PM
Yes, makes sense to me, and good point:cool: I was getting to where I couldn't see the forest through the trees, heh.

The other day I thought I saw a gray ribbon on some black Chevy truck (and just about panicked, thinking the color was already used). So I made my way though traffic to catch up with that truck. When I got close enought to figure out what it was I saw that it was a POW/MIA black ribbon... whew. Great to see it though.

October 10, 2004, 09:23 PM
While the color will eventually symbolize our cause, it will take time for the correlation to occur. I would guess that over a million of those yellow ribbons are out there, in addition to the fact that yellow is already known to symbolize military support, and since we don't have those numbers we need visibility/readability or the correlation will never develop. With any luck, and if we do our part, silver will be as familiar yellow some day.

October 10, 2004, 09:32 PM
One thing for sure, all your efforts and hard work - Matt, Dav, GOT, will not go unnoticed; soon these ribbons will be seen by a whole bunch of people... and will not take long before their symbol becomes part of the gunners' landscape. Thanks, guys.

Checking back in . . .

After some time (and experimentation, see below) version #1 is gowing on me. Put me down for 5, now, maybe more later. I'd like to show them at some gun shops to see if they have any interest in quanities, but want to be able to show them the real thing.

I still like the "Restore 2nd Amendment Rights" or "Second Amendment Rights" better. Over the weekend, I made one that looked OK (but low resolution) on my computer. I found that you can buy 8.5 x 11 sheets of magnet/paper that you can run through your printer and then cut to shape. $12 for 4 sheets. You can print 3 ribbons per sheet. I had to try it out. Well, it looked OK, but was kind of bland and fuzzy. I stuck it on my car next to a yellow "Support Our Troops" ribbon and drove around (including in some light rain). The experiment was not to judge reaction (there was none) but to see how it looked (bright blue on gray), etc.

Bottom line: Leave it to the professionals. Might last better if over-laminated to protect printer ink. Magnet sheet is thinner but OK for indoor use. This method might work if you really, really wanted only a few of a unique design.

Big thanks to GOT, Mattz357, oldfella, and others for making this happen.

I'll order two of design #2 in Navy Blue (Go Army!)

October 12, 2004, 06:19 PM
I talked again with MagnetAmerica.com's graphic people today. I expressed my concerne for the darker color of ribbon. They are going to talk about it internaly tomorrow.

They are now going over the "change list" and the "artist proof" I sent them yesterday. We will be getting another proof from them in a day or so.

October 12, 2004, 10:15 PM
I'll take 2 of each.

October 13, 2004, 11:27 PM
mattz357 has been doing some recruiting so here I am! (by the way Matt it's me Troy) Put me down for 10 #2. Oh yea, this newbie likes the darker color too!!:D

October 13, 2004, 11:45 PM
That's the way Troy! Thanks man!

October 14, 2004, 09:14 AM
Way to go, Troy!

October 14, 2004, 05:59 PM
I'll take five #1 in BLUE .

Stay Safe,

James S.

October 15, 2004, 08:19 PM
I'll take 5 of #2

October 15, 2004, 11:32 PM
I talked again with MagnetAmerica.com's graphic people today. They say they will have another proof for us on Monday (the proof representing the changes that we requested be made to their first proof).

October 16, 2004, 01:58 PM
I'll take 5 of the #1 design... either color is OK though I guess I'd prefer black text.

Edit to add - At $2.xx, I'll take 5 of whatever design, whichever color... If they get down to $1.xx a copy, I'll take 10... Again, totally open to design...

Havng actually read the thread now, I'm totally open to whichever design keeps cost down allowing for widest distribution... And actually, I'd prefer it to just say '...shall not be infringed' so as long as that is on the design, I'm happy...

October 16, 2004, 06:12 PM
I would also take 5 of the design that gets the best acceptance. My vote is for #2 in a gray ribbon and royal blue text. But, I will not be disappointed with any decision made. The message is the main thing.

October 19, 2004, 02:32 AM
I would like 5 of design #2

October 19, 2004, 06:36 AM
GOT, did MA send you the proof yesterday? How does it look?

October 19, 2004, 08:28 AM
Hey Mattz357, yes, they sent a proof. However they added a color (for a total of 3... we want a 2 color job. Some miscommunication happened.). So I emailed them some more instructions late last night and then they emailed me back early this morning and I just now replied back to them with some clarifications. They are great to work with, however there is some miscommunication as we both try to figure out what each other is wanting.

It should all be cleared up today. They have the design down-pat, its just a slight color issue now. SO, we should have another proof today sometime, I hope :)

October 19, 2004, 10:54 AM
I'd like to throw my name in the ring for an order of 5, whichever design and color gets the nod at the end. (I'll also be out of town Friday - Thursday, so let me know when I need to get the funds to whomever)

October 19, 2004, 08:56 PM
OK, once again I talked with the MagnetAmerica.com graphic people and straightened out the color confusion... whew! I think we are ready to go!!!

Below is the proof I'm sending to MagnetAmerica.com. Its based on their latest proof, and has the color ordeal all down pat. I'll post their proof, which will look the same, when they send it to me (I haven't post their previous proof because of problems, but now we're all on the same page... I hope... hah!).

FYI: The gray color will be a silver metallic ink. It will not look as dark as it does in this image, because the lighting will make it look significantly brighter/lighter. I made a visit to a local Kinkos and checked out a physical example of the exact silver color (PMS silver 877 in case anyone wants to know), and its a neat looking color that varies with the lighting.

October 19, 2004, 09:17 PM
We're looking good - can't hardly wait

October 21, 2004, 09:10 AM
Received MagnetAmerica's proof yesterday... but it somehow ended up with blue borders around the ribbon instead of he silver ones  We are now waiting for another proof from them:)

October 21, 2004, 05:38 PM
GOT, what is the small blue print at the edges of the last pics you posted? Dav, what is our order quantity up to?

October 21, 2004, 06:21 PM
mattz357: Currently have just over 600 pre-ordered.

Looks like THR price is going to be $1.90 each. (no confirmation from MagnetAmerica on price yet)

October 21, 2004, 06:42 PM
Dav, what quantity of each ribbon did you place the order for? Since they are $1.90 now, I'll up my order quantity.

October 21, 2004, 07:00 PM
YA I'll probably order more than the 4 I wanted at that price.

October 21, 2004, 07:47 PM
Hmmm. I'm wondering what happens if these magnets get real popular. I'd like to take them by a couple three gun shops and see if there is any interest in selling them at the counter. Is it going to be possible to get a reorder at the same price if they go over real well?

October 21, 2004, 07:50 PM
OK, finally got things all straightened out and here is MagnetAmerica.com's proof that Dav OKed.
Mattz357, the text should be readable on this proof. On the right leg is MagnetAmerica copywrite. On the left leg is the mention "Text layout design by GotGraphic.com", thats me.
(If this image is too big I'll resize it)

October 22, 2004, 12:13 AM
Yes to those who ask if a re-order is possible. I've discussed this with MagnetAmerica. They wouldn't give an up-front discount on the possibility of a re-order, but they will take into account the size of this initial order when (if) we do order more.

And if it gets real popular, we can drive the price still lower.

We only have 695 pre-ordered, so there are still plenty for distribution if you find anyone wanting a fairly large order.

It's gonna be hard to wait for delivery now. ;)

October 22, 2004, 12:19 AM
Dav, is demand high enough that we're ordering 500 of each design? Thanks!

October 22, 2004, 01:00 AM
Hey Dav, has MagnetAmerica said when these might get printed?

October 22, 2004, 01:54 AM
I sent you an e-mail indicating that I would like 3 of design #1.

October 22, 2004, 06:28 AM

Is your website going to be up and functioning for the ordering or have you already pre-ordered?

(and I'd like to add another 5 to my order...total of 15) :)

Thanks for all your work on these!

October 22, 2004, 08:35 AM
Thanks Cacique. Actually Dav has a site where he's going to sell them. See here: http://davrow.us/

I'll put up a page as well, but Dav is the one handling the orders and will have the motherload of them.

October 22, 2004, 08:42 AM
Im interested in 15 of these, preferably design #2 in blue.

October 22, 2004, 08:44 AM
Mattz357 wrote
Dav, is demand high enough that we're ordering 500 of each design? Thanks!

If the demand is not high enough right now, it will be by the time it gets to the printing press - I'd say, Go for it!

October 22, 2004, 11:15 AM
GOT If I already committed to 10 of #2 in this thread do I still need to place an order at www.davrow.com? I don't want to place an order there and make it look like I ordered 20 betweem THR and dav's site.

October 22, 2004, 08:27 PM

As GOT indicated, I am the one who will be handling distribution.

I am maintaining a list of everyone who has expressed an interest, whether here, via e-mail, PM or on my website davrow.us (http://davrow.us).

You can change your order here, or by e-mailing me (davrow (davrow@san.rr.com)).

We have almost 700 pre-orders, so we have a few hundred extra at this point.

Estimated delivery date is November 19th.

I am not accepting payment, yet. I'll send e-mail to everyone to let them know when it is time for that.

Thanks everyone, this is a fun and educational experience.

October 22, 2004, 11:24 PM
Hey Wolfy, what Dav says. In fact if people goto my site I'll have a link to Dav's site... for sanities sake :) and so there are no duplications of orders/requests.

October 22, 2004, 11:39 PM
I don't have a site, but I'm glad they do. This is awesome! November 19th is a lot earlier than I thought we would get them.

October 23, 2004, 02:04 AM
I added a link to your site on my sig line for another gun forum that I go to. Hope thats ok!!:D

October 23, 2004, 12:05 PM
lucky8926 wrote:

Since we have an actual order placed, it is time to get the word out. I'm going to do a little more work on the website to try to make it friendlier (designed at 1024 x 768, should have made it fit smaller screens).

And if any one wants to order from you, feel free to take orders. You can pass the orders along to me, or if you want to mark-up the price and sell them yourself that is fine, too.

I'm holding the price as low as I can for THR and other gun board folks, but even I will be selling at full retail in my wife's eBay store.

October 23, 2004, 01:17 PM
Good for you, Dav - Lets beat as many bushes as we can; lets hit the ground running with this project... I'll do my part.

Pete (The Oldfella)

October 29, 2004, 01:40 AM
I have sent an e-mail to everyone who pre-ordered showing how to make payment and how much they have currently ordered.

There were several for whom I could not find an e-mail address. I will try to PM them, but I'm going to list them here, too, just in case.

Sisco - Denmark116 - Mr. Kook - Evil_Ed - Roon - SB88LX - Daemon688 - MaterDei - Cool Hand Luke - Sistema1927 - Smoke - stealthmode - BevrFevr - beardking - ID_shooting - bill123 - aguyindallas

Also, e-mail bounced for swamptertwo, mtarnold5 and elkhunter

The ribbons are still not expected until November 19th. Just making sure everyone has the information they need.

October 29, 2004, 01:51 AM
Great, thanks Dav!

October 29, 2004, 06:43 AM
Great work, Dav!!!

October 29, 2004, 08:24 AM
If you sent a email to me take notice, my computer doesn't let attachlment come thru. Please send a personal message if possible.

October 29, 2004, 08:39 AM
Good show, fellas

Dav - I've changed my quantity to 20, my personal check is in the mail.

Pete (The Oldfella)

October 29, 2004, 10:55 AM
Paypal sent :)

October 29, 2004, 11:21 AM
2 PMs sent. Still in for 5.

October 29, 2004, 07:01 PM
Good job, thanks Dav. I can't wait to hand some of these out.

October 30, 2004, 01:35 PM
Please send me the link to pay with Paypal.

Your attachment came out funny as I have a Mac.

October 30, 2004, 05:10 PM
TennTucker, go to Dav's site here: www.davrow.us (http://www.davrow.us/). There is a pay via PayPal button there.

October 30, 2004, 06:40 PM
Thanks. Ordered 10 and paid for.

November 1, 2004, 10:36 AM

I got your PM through the Forum, unfortunately your e-mail address keeps getting returned as undeliverable.

I'd still like 5 of the Ribbons.

I'll try your web page.

November 2, 2004, 02:28 PM
Processed my payment via Pay Pal today, ordered 10 of #1.

November 3, 2004, 12:56 AM
Cool Hand Luke, I have your order in for 3 of #1, 2 of #2. Sorry my e-mail is giving your problems.

Everyone who has made payment, thank you! This is going to make it much easier to have everything ready to roll when the magnets arrive.

No new word there yet, though. Still hoping for the 19th.

November 3, 2004, 07:19 AM
Dav, is it to late to order some of these?

November 3, 2004, 08:53 AM
Hey all that will/are paying with Pay Pal. Remember, DAV is selling these things for about nothing. Also, remember that Pay Pal charges the receiver a fee for accepting credit cards when you pay him with Pay Pal.

It might be nice to send an extra buck or so to cover the fees that DAV will incur as the seller here. If he loses money on these, we surely wont have another chance to order them again at these low prices.

Just my .02

Birddog13 wrote:
Dav, is it to late to order some of these? It is not too late, Birddog13. I have hundreds of extra available. (you can order here (http://davrow.us))

aguyindallas, thanks for the thought (and putting your money where your mouth is). I had no idea how much credit card charges were going to be on PayPal. 44 cents on $4.80 (almost 10%) to $1.18 on $30.

On the other hand, what all of you who have pre-paid are including in your payment is faith in me that I will deliver. That's worth more to me than a few percent.

Besides, once I have the product in-hand, I will be raising prices on future sales. So that should help recoup some of these expenses.

So, Birddog13, price remains at $1.90 until product arrives around Nov. 19th.

Thanks everyone. :)

November 3, 2004, 11:58 PM

I went ahead day before yesterday and ordered them off your webpage via paypal.

If you mean that you ordered 5 more for me in addition to the ones that I ordered via pay pal then my apologies for the mix up.

I'll go ahead and take (and pay you) for the extra five also if you don't think any one else wants them.

I have sent you an e-mail through the forum also.

November 4, 2004, 04:22 AM

I just sent you some money to help cover some payapl transaction fee's. It is not for ribbons. I have did that in a seperate transaction.

Thanks for everything.

November 5, 2004, 12:43 AM
I'm glad this came to fruition and I just ordered a couple.

I had a thought (as if this wasn't complicated enough), how about some 1/2 or 1/3 size for ammo cans, file cabinets, lockers, & such?

The big ones are great for a vehicle, but smaller ones (about the size of a playing card) would be a bit more versatile. Maybe for the second batch or something.

Have you given any thought of doing decals too? They should be cheaper and might be better for some applications.

November 5, 2004, 05:26 PM

The same company we are dealing with for this order MagnetAmerica (http://www.magnetamerica.com) also does smaller magnet ribbons and "static clings" (decals without adhesive).

If quality is up to expectations and demand for these ribbons continues to be strong, then future orders will include those options.

November 5, 2004, 05:31 PM
"Static Clings" for inside of car window... sounds like a great addition to this project fellas - I'm in for a few.

Pete (The Oldfella)

November 5, 2004, 05:32 PM
10 of Number 1 in navy blue if possible, but if there is an overriding demand for a different design or color combination, I'm still in..... there are a lot of pages to this thread.... can you re-post how, where, what to get these?

November 5, 2004, 05:41 PM
You can get the ribbons at Dav's site (http://www.davrow.us/).

Here are the ribbon designs that are currently in production:

Any updates???

November 12, 2004, 11:31 PM
Nothing to report yet, Ironbarr.

I'll start trying to contact our supplier next week. They aren't actually due in yet, but they might know something. :)

November 12, 2004, 11:56 PM
Roger that, Dave - be careful out there.

November 14, 2004, 11:14 PM
Dav, just to let you know, I finally put my official paypal order for 5 in this evening. Been meaning to get to that but have been out of town a lot lately.

November 18, 2004, 12:20 AM
They're here! :) And they are beautiful. Well, that might be going a little far, but ain't nobody gonna be disappointed.

I have a little over 50 paid for orders that will start going out tomorrow. It's all going to be USPS 1st Class, so they 'should' arrive pretty rapidly. Took 10 days for UPS to ground ship here from the printer. :(

It's about time for all you holdouts to place your orders. Price stays the same until this Sunday, when I up it by 25 cents each. I'm losing money on postage right now, need to even things up a little.

I won't be asking for orders in this thread any more, I'll start another in the 'for sale' areas. I'd be real grateful if you start spreading the word about these being available. :D

Thanks for your support everybody. It has taken awhile, but they're here! And they'll be where ever you are, soon. ;)

Gimme, gimme, gimme. ;)

November 18, 2004, 10:08 AM
The check is in the mail! :D :D :D

November 18, 2004, 01:25 PM
If you placed a multiple ribbon order, and haven't already done so, why not drop a Lincoln in the mail to Dave Row?

Mine will go out the day after the ribbons reach my mailbox

November 18, 2004, 02:32 PM
All orders received by Wednesday 11/17 have been shipped!

I didn't realize I was feeling so tense about having received money from so many of you without being able to ship anything... but it sure feels good to have it in the Post Office's hands instead of mine!

The larger orders, being too heavy, went Priority Mail. They shouldn't require signatures, but they may not be delivered with your normal mail.

PLEASE let me know right away if there are any problems with your deliveries, wrong amount, design or whatever. :)

November 18, 2004, 02:43 PM
Dave, I assume you got my order this morning...

BTW: Did you get any interest from VCDL?

November 18, 2004, 05:56 PM
Dav, sorry for being a procrastinator, but my paypal is sent now too. Did you end up losing your shirt on shipping? Thanks again for all the work!!!

November 19, 2004, 03:35 PM
Can you change it so that you can take paypal from unconfirmed address... I am having trouble "confirming" mine...

November 19, 2004, 09:57 PM
Thanks. I keep getting "this person does not accept <payment> from un confirmed (mailing) addresses". I am a "verified PP user but I guess my mailing address is not confirmed

November 19, 2004, 10:59 PM
cola8d8, I found the setting on PayPal and changed it. It should accept you now.

Thank you.

Dave-got my ribbons out of the mailbox about 10 minutes ago,and they look great. There are ribbons on all the vehicles in my family.Thank you for your efforts, and for such prompt shipment. No wonder this place is called The High Road.Rich

November 20, 2004, 06:21 PM
Damn I was reading this thread and realized I didn't check the mail today!!

Got the ribbons today Dave, thanks a million...they're awesome. I'm going to shoot you another $5 for shipping cause I think it was more than we discussed.

Anyway, I know we all appreciate your hard work on these...thanks again!

November 20, 2004, 06:31 PM
Michigan and Virginia?....why didn't i get mine? :cuss:

OK, i'm over it, can wait another couple days :)

November 20, 2004, 07:17 PM
They're here! And they are beautiful. Well, that might be going a little far, but ain't nobody gonna be disappointed.

Awesome! Can't wait to see them! Glad everybody is liking them!

November 20, 2004, 08:01 PM
Alright, there should be a rule that the first person with the magnets and a digital camera has to post pictures... close up pictures. I can't wait to get mine!

November 20, 2004, 08:40 PM
The race is on! Which will get here first, my ribbons (which I hope for on Monday) or my digital camera (which probably won't get shipped until Monday)

But I'll post when both are here.

November 20, 2004, 09:22 PM
Matt, I tried pictures and scanning. Neither worked for me, they came out looking more like a graphic than our graphics examples. ;-)

I do hope someone else has more luck photographing them than I did.

Ringer - sorry 'bout that. The bigger orders weighed to much for 1st Class Postage, so I sent them Priority Mail. Cacique's was one of those large orders.

(on the other hand, Rich K's was not one of those, so I guess I don't know why they got 'em first. )

November 20, 2004, 09:26 PM
Nothing to be sorry about! They will be here soon enough.

November 21, 2004, 12:06 AM
Dav, did you get enough in for all of the people that have ordered and paypaled? just wondering if I'll have a neat new present in the mail next week. :D

November 21, 2004, 12:47 AM
AWWW Man no magnets in my mailbox either :( I'm going to be out of town monday too so I will have to wait until Tuesday  Oh well I'm going to see some Monday Night Football live and in person!! GO CHIEFS!!!!! And when I get back I will have something to look foreward to when I get home! :D

November 21, 2004, 02:32 PM
Ha :neener: - I received my package yesterday (Saturday). I placed two (2) ribbons between my back and rear windows; the back of my trunk is mostly taken up with plastic & lights. My car is silver, but you can still discern the ribbon. Good show, guys; Thanks, Dav. Y'all take care, you hear?

Pete (The Oldfella)

November 21, 2004, 02:58 PM
Looking forward to getting mine.

November 21, 2004, 04:07 PM
You have PM

November 21, 2004, 11:46 PM
I need some brainstorming help.

I went to a range clean-up on Saturday. Naturally I gave several of these ribbons to some of the other volunteers.

But how, or what, can I include with the ribbon when giving it to someone that would let them know how to obtain more?

My most recent thought is a small label to stick on the back of each one with my website URL.

Any other ideas out there? Thanks.

November 21, 2004, 11:54 PM
The sticker thing sounds like a good idea.

November 21, 2004, 11:59 PM
Also, since a few people have asked, I bought *a lot* of these ribbons to get the price down to what we got.

There are plenty for all the orders placed so far, and still plenty after that for everyone you can talk into getting some. Thanks.

November 22, 2004, 08:04 AM
But how, or what, can I include with the ribbon when giving it to someone that would let them know how to obtain more? I will always have a link to your site from mine ( www.GotGraphic.com which is on the ribbon... I think it is anyways). That should help.

I've already received a couple of emails regarding the ribbon... one of the people that emailed me thinks I designed ALL of MagnetAmerica.com's ribbons (they thanked me for the yellow "support our troups" ribbon)... :D

November 22, 2004, 10:32 AM
Sticker: "To Order RKBA Ribbons go to www.davrow,us" :D

November 22, 2004, 08:08 PM
Mine came today, and I have pics!
Put one on my truck, one on the wife's car and one on the beer fridge. Fourth one will go on my locker at work.

November 22, 2004, 08:42 PM
Dis here iz Pancho...

Sorry, I just had to do that - old age, you know :) :)

Anyway - you beat me to it - the photo.

Seems I used a flash too up close and got a bad shot. Tried to work it out but no joy.

Maybe I'll try again manana (oops) sans flash.

Looks good.

November 22, 2004, 08:53 PM
And how soon will the first RKBA magnetic be stolen?

1 day?
1 week?
1 month?

November 22, 2004, 08:55 PM
Got mine today too.

Thumbs up, they look great!

November 22, 2004, 09:06 PM
And how soon will the first RKBA magnetic be stolen?

Well...funny you should ask. Mine wasn't exactly 'stolen' but when I arrived at a customer site today it lasted about 5 minutes...he saw it on the back of the car and 'wanted' it :D Fortunately, I anticipated this and ordered MANY extras!!

November 22, 2004, 09:30 PM
That was fast... how about the second? :)

November 22, 2004, 09:46 PM
Got mine tonight

Me Like!!

November 22, 2004, 10:36 PM
Didn't put another one on yet - going back to the same place tomorrow! ;)

November 22, 2004, 10:54 PM
Sweet :D . Car and truck are adorned. The rest are going to work with me tomorrow. I'll stop by my fav gun shop and give a couple of the guys there one. Wouldn't be surprised if they want a bunch to sell at the shop.

November 22, 2004, 11:03 PM
I got mine this afternoon when I checked the mail. One will go on my Rodeo, another will go on my wife's Honda, the other 3 are for friends. Here is a pic of my 5 on my fridge for now.

November 22, 2004, 11:15 PM
Mine arrived today. Very nice!

One on my F150, one on my Samurai, one on the refrigerator, one on a filing cabinet at work, and another for a shooting buddy.

Interesting photo Beardking. It looks like the ribbon will reflect a lot of light. Thats going to be cool at night time and under headlight illumination.

I received mine today!!! They are spectacular!

Thanks, Mike Arnold

GOT, yeah, they do seem to reflect fairly well considering that was taken in my kitchen without a flash (the flash kept killing the photo). I think they'll do great on the vehicles. Of course, it would do better for me if my Rodeo wasn't white and my wife's Honda wasn't silver. :D

I think, had 'em shipped to workplace, and they may have arrived Sat.

VERY nice. Gonna put one on my daily driver, see how long it lasts here (I ordered a bunch for this, and to give away a few to friends).

I'm glad you are all enjoying your ribbons!

I bought some clear vinyl labels (Avery 8667) to put on the back of the magnets with my URL. A little larger than I wanted, but I think this will do fine. I'll feel lots better about giving them away knowing people will know how to find more.

Beardking had a good idea, for me to post a snippet of code that attaches to the ribbon icon/avatar so people could easily set up a link to my website. I'll post that shortly.

Glad to have been of use, doesn't happen that much with me. Of course then again, if you saw my blog, you might not want to be associated with me. HAH :what:

That looks SWEET! I hope mine come tomorrow.

Anyone willing to post a link to the 2nd Amendment Ribbons ordering website is encouraged to do so. Just add the code here to your webpage:
<a href="http://davrow.us">
<img src="http://davrow.us/rkba.gif" width="66" height="100" alt="2A Ribbons"></a>

You have my permission to link to my graphic on my website, but you really should download the attached graphic and put it on your website and link to that, instead. If you link to my site and it is having problems, then response on your site will be affected. If you link to your own copy of the graphic then your site cannot be impacted by mine.

Thank you!

Dav, Thanks for the source code there. Unfortunately, I'll have to link directly to your site for the image because I'm using a free blog account and I don't have any actual place to store the image.

Received my magnet ribbons yesterday, they look awesome! Thank you very much for coordinating this and doing all the annoying leg work.

Mine arrived today...spent the afternoon handing them out around base. Thanks!

Mine arrived today, and one is on my car.

I'll be driving to the gun shop tomorrow or this weekend to show it off :D

Digi cam should be here tomorrow, according to FedEx tracking, plus my son arrives tomorrow with his digicam, so I should be able to post a picture before this weekend

Apropos of very little, he has a Pentax Optio S, and we're getting an Optio s5i.

The Optio S fits in an Altoids tin, and the s5i fits in with a little bit of bending of the tin. Makes a neat camera case.

Mine were waiting in my mailbox for me today!! One on my jeep, one on girlfriends car and one on my friends truck. I know of 3 other people that I work with that want one too. I'm sure I won't have a problem "getting rid of" the others and will probablly be back to order more!! :D

This has been a wonderful thread, but since these ribbons are now for sale, it is probably time to stop my posting in the General Discussion forum.

The new 'Ribbons for Sale' thread is here: 2nd Amendment Ribbons (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=112943)

Thank you all for your orders and for your support of the 2nd Amendment!

Stealthmode (and everyone else), yes, both designs of the magnet ribbons are still available.

E-Mail, PM me, or go to my website at 2nd Amendment Magnet Ribbons (http://davrow.us).

I don't make changes to the website very often, but it was fully functional last time I checked.

Dave great thanks.

Are there any other ideas in the works I am always wanting to buy new pro 2A items like your magents. T-shirts and hats I like to give away as gifts also.

November 28, 2005, 06:00 PM

These magnet ribbons were a THR project - conceived and designed by THR members. I just did the ordering and distributing.

Too much money involved for me to expand into new ventures. Since I'm not in business and only distribute these basically to THR folks, I haven't quite recouped my investment, yet.

So, no other 2A items from me. Sorry.
